Hi Nicola I am an Italian subscriber and I was wondering if it is possible for a tourist to mudlark in the uk, I know you've recently had some regulation change regarding mudlarking but I cannot find a very solid answer
@@MrSwosh89 Hi you need to get a Foreshore Permit from The Port of London Authority. The permit is for 3 years. This current cycle started in January 2019 and ends in December 2021. It costs £80. You can also apply for a day permit which costs £35. However you need to pre-order at least 6 weeks in advance just to be safe. Here is the link: www.pla.co.uk/Environment/Thames-foreshore-access-including-metal-detecting-searching-and-digging. Happy Larking!
I was talking to my parents about how i'd been watching your mudlarking finds. Especially the clay pipes . Only to find out that my late granddad was, for a short time, a member of the Royal Antediluvian Order Of Buffaloes. I would never have known that had i not stumbled across your channel. So thank you for the entertainment and the little piece of history linked to my own .
I think that the copper nail was used to fasten copper sheeting onto the hulls of wooden ships. The copper prevented barnacles from growing on the hull, and discouraged worms. It might be very old.
Greetings from Naples Florida. I don’t know how your channel popped up on my wall but I am very happy that it did. Today was the first day that I watched any of your videos and I was pleasantly surprised. I WANT MORE!!! Here in the USA, we really don’t find treasures like what you find because we are a young country, I’m certain I will be watching your videos as quickly as you load them. Thanks so much for sharing your hobby with us and God bless you. 😎👍🇺🇸 🇬🇧
@@CB-xr1eg : Same here, she stepped over a green bottle in the waves this morning but maybe it was modern. And I'm sure I saw a pipe whilst Nicola was investigating her Piggotts button.
The Bon Jovi cruise has passed. Angelo & Collateral are doing their thing, and Nic is back on the Thames in her pink boots uncovering some lovely finds. All is right with the world! Thanks, Nic!

Hi Nicola! Your movies should be sold at the pharmacy as a painkiller. After a hard week he came to a fixed time. Thanks and I look forward to new discoveries.
I appreciate you for doing the right thing, e.g. seeking out the owner of the sign. In another video, you were searching for the owner of a ring you had found on a sidewalk. Thanks for living by the golden rule. It's very good to see.
I'm glad you are back!!! I'll bet you had fun on that cruise ship and touring with your son! That first cartridge you found looked like .45 ACP, the Tommy guns that Churchill bought early in the war used that cartridge, although it could've been .455 Webley Automatic. Awesome video! And yes sometime please do a short Button Bonanza segment with all your buttons.
@@elifoust7664 And some of those were in .455 Webley Auto! I wish I could have a look at that round she picked up! I wish Nic would tell us what head stampings say on cartridges.
As a result of watching Nicola I went mudlarking when I was in London this year. Right under the Millenium Bridge, so rocky, but fascinating and rewarding. Have a go.
@@CB-xr1eg Yep. Pipes. None as good as Nicola's recent finds and none complete, but heck - from the 1700s. And some old pottery shards. They'll mount as very sweet earrings. The area was solid with broken bricks, couldn't believe there'd be anything there.
I think that solid round brass item is a detonator that screws into a large shell. I’m guessing it has a thread and the two notches either side of the primer in the centre would be for the spanner similar to an angle grinder tool. Cheers 🍻 John from Australia 🇦🇺

The shell fuse is the part that screws into the bottom of the shell and contains the primer. Many times they were packed separately. Has the makers mark, mfg date of 1937, and the code / part number. Maybe from an anti aircraft shell. The pistol cartridge is nice, I believe from the webley .455 service pistol. And, by the way, I love all the pipe finds.
