      It’s an evolving process, I learn something new every time I make a run of these.

    Some people would say you need to "put the plane in tension" when lapping the sole. But for a small plane like that it probably doesn't matter?
    Anyway, it's gorgeous!

    • @davidpeters8813
      @davidpeters8813 4 місяці тому

      It doesn't matter for a full size plane either. 🙂

    • @SvenOlavSolvold
      @SvenOlavSolvold 2 місяці тому

      There are several factors in play that could affect this. And all of the scenarios where having a blade mounted is a very smart thing to when lapping the sole, involves a frog.
      This plane has a frog as a part of its body, so it should not affect the lapping process at all.

    Very nice. I would totally buy one. Have you considered Japanning the body instead of painting it?

    • @DaveCorinth
      @DaveCorinth  4 місяці тому

      I haven’t tested japanning on brass yet, but I considered doing just that.

      Soon….I’m making 20 at the moment. Once I have those made I’ll post them for sale. I’m going to make a Store with the tools I make and restore available here on UA-cam.

    If you like sap wood, then use Sap-elle. 😂 Do you plan on making a cast iron #1 replica or the never manufactured non-existent bedrock 601?

    • @DaveCorinth
      @DaveCorinth  4 місяці тому

      Superior Toolworks makes a Bedrock 601. But I am making a no 1 sized low angle like the 164.
