  • In this really quick episode I cover how to improve GPU texture streaming performance by allocating more VRAM, basically how to use the full RAM of your graphics card for Texture Streaming in Unreal Engine 5.

The problem with UE5; I had two GTX1080Ti on my PC, then bought RTX4090. Now, UE5 ALWAYS (!) chose slower GTX1080Ti over RTX4090. Why? And, there is no any preference to change that. In Blender, for example, I have choice to use only RTX4090... but not in UE5. Is there any hope? Any help?

Not only UE5 will use your GTX1080Ti. PC builder here, your computer will always use the lower tier Graphic card as the main, the one with the lower VRAM, or else it will crash because your lower card can't keep up with the higher card. Best you can do is taking out your 1080Ti, use only the RTX4090.

In UE 5.1 that settings does flatout not work, no matter if i set it to 10% or 100% the engine always fills up the entire vram and ultimately ends up crashing and i'm not even using particularly high resolution textures, most textures are 2k only big assets or closeup shots get 4k textures. So yeah, the engine is just broken to the point its borderline unuseable with a 3080. Not using any raytracing or stuff like that.

Yes it's the same setting as the console command, but set for the project as a whole. I don't think there's a way to set this globally, but at least you do this once (for each project) and won't have to use the console command each time you boot up.

you can. Go tho the place where you installed Unreal engine. select your version for example 5.1
      >Engine >Config and somewhere far below you'll find "BaseScalability" which you can open with the editor. In there, somewhere in the middle of the document, you'll find "(TextureQuality@0-cine)" and there you can change the texture streaming pool size for each quality.

Hey Abrar, it's probably heat related. Some guidance here: www.reddit.com/r/unrealengine/comments/uad1be/unreal_engine_5_makes_my_pc_shut_down/
      www.reddit.com/r/unrealengine/comments/bmwhvk/engine_shuts_down_my_computer/
Is your specific issue: "GPU Crashed or d3d device removed"? If so, I recommend Googling the phrase: "gpu crashed or d3d device removed Unreal" And you'll get some good suggestions. Hope this helps get your started.

B550 F have not very powerfull VRM design, so it may be not enough to power processor at 100% load. Try to run UE5 limiting number of CPU cores used, if this will stop reboots - that's the case.

UE5 has the worst perfomance in an UE version in history... UE4.26 with LOD's has probably 3 times better FPS than UE5 and UE5.1 with nanite and lumen, and way less crashes and bugs, even UE5.1 sequencer is completly broken, causing lots of non expected issues in game (not in the cinematic viewport), there is even one bug that causes sequences not to be able to be recorded as a movie from the engine or UE5.1 might record from wrong camera's... from my end, UE5.1 is not production ready AT ALL... FPS is bad.... really bad, I have a RTX 3070 and I have never being able to get great performance on an secene, 60 FPS tops unclamping framerate, while UE4.26 might give me 200 FPS easy... and some consoles actually requeire 90 FPS for a game to be approved, so as for today, UE5.1 is usefull for cinematics, usless for videogame development 100%. Even in this video, FPS is bad.. no solutions for now, but I haven't tested UE5.2, so not sure if they have fixed a few of this issues.

@@rockeyplayz8477 100 FPS on an empty scene or basic stuff is terrible... once you populate the scene, FPS might drop to 70 or less, wich is the worst scenario... If you would like to release your game for PC, most clients will get between 45 to 60 FPS while console might luckily get 40FPS, just to give you an idea of how bad 100FPS in UE5 is... Nintendo Switch requires a minimun of 60 FPS, If you can't reach it, you can not release your game.

@@rockeyplayz8477 Basically... we (industry) are not using UE5, only UE4.26 (not even UE4.27 because it already introduced UE5 issues).... so, If you need UE5 optimization won't be enough, you depend on Epic to fix the engine in the future and they have being doing it very slowly, my recommendation, work with UE4.26, and when the engine (UE5) becomes more stable and have better FPS, then you update, from the industry point of view, UE5 new features (except lumen) are useless... including nanite, specially for console.
