Ex-therapist Jodi Hildebrandt is expected in court next week after her former business partner, Ruby Franke, agreed to plead guilty to four counts of second-degree aggravated child abuse. Franke admitted she and another adult restrained Franke’s two youngest children with handcuffs, denied them access to food and water, and made them stand outside in the hot sun for hours. As part of her plea agreement, Franke is required to testify against Hildebrandt. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber checks in with KUTV2News reporter Brian Schnee to discuss what we can expect during Hildebrandt’s hearing.

Jody is such a danger to society in my opinion I really think she needs to be locked up and kept away from other prisoners. She's the Hannibal Lecter of mental health. I hope others come forward. It's a matter of time before she causes a child's death, if she hasn't already. And what about that partner they were trafficking ruby's children to for house cleaning in exchange for some food! Franke couldn't cope with parenting 6 children. She wanted total control of her children and their total compliance with her authority. Sick.
She didn’t trust her natural parenting inclinations and was looking for outside validation.
She doesn't like children, let alone love. Why have six children if you can't love them? She used them as her slaves. I don't think she will do well in a real prison. She can't control the women there, and I don't think she knows how to make friends in any environment. Once she's committed, we won't know how she is doing. I'm going to be curious. I hope to God there's some kind of court order that forbids contact of any kind with the children.

I think she plead guilty to avoid going to trial because it's hard to hear what she did to her children when it's read aloud. Imagine how much worse it would be hearing about the torture from the children themselves. Ruby knows the court of public opinion is against her right now, if she traumatized the children further by forcing them to testify she'd definitely get life in prison.

Punishing him for "sneaking" more water! Of all the things to punish a child for, they punished him for drinking more water after working out in the desert heat with sunburns so bad that the skin was sloughing. Unthinkable! I know I shouldn't think this way, but I hope the other inmates hear the details and deliver some prison justice.

I am guessing that the children told the police all of the things things that Ruby has been charged with? How else would they know what those kids have gone through. They are so brave if they were able to tell investigators about the torture they have been through. I can't comprehend how much this had to have messed with their minds, and I'm hoping they will be able to overcome all of this and become healthy happy human beings.
It's quite possible Ruby told them everything she's been doing. The police have very skilled interrogators that use techniques designed to make criminals want to confess all the details of their crimes. I doubt Ruby is mentally resilient enough to have withstood these techniques.
They'll be evidence from the doctor's reports. And Ruby would have been told to explain exactly what she did in order to get the plea deal.
As a fair skinned redhead, I’ve suffered from severe sunburn from my own stupidity. It’s very painful. The fact that Ruby knowingly subjected her small children to this torture over and over is beyond my comprehension. Despicable.

Am I the only one who was bothered when Ruby pled guilty, that she kept taking deep breathes & closing her eyes being a little too dramatic?? Admitting guilt to possibly lessen a prison sentence and actually feeling guilt are 2 completely different things.
It's my assumption that people take a plea deal not to do the right thing & admit guilt & accept the punishment, but rather to implicate someone else in order for a lessening of charges or lighter sentence. Ruby is still looking out for #1

There is no deal other than the state dropped 2/6 charges. Ruby is throwing herself on the mercy of the court for sentencing and will help the prosection of Jodi - who is a very dangerous person

He's only getting away with this because he wasn't there when things blew up. He definitely is also guilty and shouldn't have custody of those children.

This is so much worse than I imagined, even after hearing what Jodi’s niece Jesse described as their experience of torture by her aunt, Jodi Hildebrandt. Maybe I was thinking that Ruby Franke could not possibly have fallen into such extreme cruelty within just a few years of Hildebrandt’s influence.
Jodi apparently blames her own family for the reason her marriage didn't work and her relationship with her own children, so she thinks by manipulating other people, she doesn't have to accept responsibility for her own actions. She has an evil brutal mind. Ruby had to already have abusive tendencies to fall for Jodis crap. In my opinion

They are both unhinged. She pleads guilty, which to her is only a tactic, there's not a shred of remorse. She's fully blaming Jodi, someone who taught her how to shift blame. It's going to be a battle of the wits in court. And I bet Jodi will plead not guilty.

It is easier to blame someone else than take responsibility for her horrible behaviours. She was abusive to her children long before Jody. These children will suffer for the rest of their lives, especially the two younger ones, thus she needs to remain in prison the rest of her life!! I pray for her poor parents who I saw in the courtroom! It is so devastating for the family!

My guess would be Ruby was trying to get closer to a Fundamental Mormon life and part of that is splitting up the family and brainwashing. If Kevin wasn't ready for polygamy - Kevin wouldn't be charged because Kevin was gone out of the isolation and brainwashing phase that Jodi was imposing. St. George is a Polygamy capital, there's no coincidence that Jodi lived there.

Thank goodness the neighbours knew about Jodi and did the right thing, contacting police and giving that brave boy a safe haven, giving him food and a drink while he waited for police to arrive. I doubt he would have locked the boy in his house than allow him to go with jodi. I've listened to that phone call so many times but when he becomes overcome with emotion, tears provoke my eyes.

Agreed. Dr. G on UA-cam did some behavioural analysis, and it’s really a lot to do with her fear of consequences, and brief moments of fight-instinct with her glares at the prosecutors but it quickly dissipates.
She’s not repentant in my opinion too. I would even offer that she still thinks RF is possessed.
She needs a minimum of 10 years in prison..if her son wouldn't have escape and got help , in time he and his little sister could have ended up dead!!
