The P2Max was one of the very few options for my fat bike. The extra big battery is a bonus for me in that my winter races are very cold. Last year during my A-race (Alaska Frosty Bottom) the temperature reached -15F/-26C when my Wahoo Bolt computer died (even with an aux battery pack supplying power), but my P2Max kept pumping out data right to the end. I agree the rubber battery cover is a weak bit. It feels like it could come off easily, but in three years of use, it has never come loose or fallen off.

The NG Eco is a great power meter, I had one for over 2 years on my Sram Force 22 bike, ran perfectly, simple to use, no calibration, just get on your bike and ride! Battery lasts 250-300hours as advertised. The install on the Sram was great as only the stock spider needed swapping out.
After getting a new bike with Ultegra Di2 I went for Favero Assiomas as I didn't want to swap BBs on a brand new bike, ran both power meters for a few rides and never saw more then 1-2W difference. Sold the Eco to a friend and have been running the Assiomas happily for the last few months. Thanks to Shane and Ray for their reviews and recomendations :)

I am a Shimano Ultegra 6800 user who has have recently bought this ngeco power meter and rotor aldhu 24 crank combination. This review of Shanes was a big factor in my decision.
I am extremely happy with the accuracy and quality of the product. I have specific fit issues which prevent me using Faveros. I still wanted a power meter that allowed me to keep using my current Shimano bottom bracket and current Shimano chainrings. Also, it had to be ACCURATE.
Prior to the power2max I been using a 4iiii left-crank-leg PM with a poor quality strain gauge that broke after 18 months (as did several of my friends), then a Pioneer left-crank-leg power PM which either under or over measured power, thus inaccurate. Both were measured against a Tacx Neo first generation.
I'm happy to say that the Power2max is accurate. It perfectly and repeatedly matches the Neo in both power and cadence. Its very easy to install and simple to use. I'm also happy that if I ever upgrade to 12 speed Shimano, I can continue to use this same power meter, as it fits all 11 and 12 speed Shimano chainrings. Somehow Shimano can't even offer this level of compatibility with their own cranks.
A tip for anyone considering this product and wanting to save money. There is a lower cost crank arm option called "Rotor Vegast 24" which is only 60 grams heavier. Power2max also rebrand Vegast 24 arms with their own logo and sell as a combination with the ngeco spider.

Only complaint is the pricing: the Rival-version is 490€ but for some reason the MTB/RF -version is 630€. Add L/R-feature to that + P&P + a new 104BCD-chainring, you are nearing to 800€... not cheap I would say.
Got the spare battery cover at the same time also. Because it is flimsy at the best. Haven't had any problems with my gravel but this can cahnge now with the fat bike, which will be ridden more in the woods.

I have some experience with the Power2Max customer service, both via Germany and the Australian distributor.
I had some issues with the batteries in my Road and MTB units shortly after receiving them. I contacted Germany via the troubleshooting feature in the APP and they had a response back confirming the batteries were faulty in less than 24Hrs on both occasions. The Australian distributor offered to replace the batteries free of charge. I haven't had any issues since, I assume the units were shipped with a faulty batch of batteries.

I have one of these on my Caad12. Power data was also a paid upgrade...that is, out of the box you only got cadence.
In terms of the accuracy, theoretically they are all 1%, every NG gets tested for accuracy whereas every 1 in 10 NG eco is tested and the other 9 are calibrated from that. Paying for the added accuracy I think is a bit of a cash grab.
The app for firmware updates and purchasing is absolutely horrible, one of the worst apps I've used.
In saying all of this, I am happy with it. Once I got over the initial shock of paying extra dollars to get the power data and the fact that I rarely need to use the app, it is solid. Have it connected to a Garmin Edge 530 and Zwift and have never had an issue with it.

I'll be the fly in the ointment when it comes to aftermarket support from the Australian distributor and P2M HQ - VCAT (local consumer affairs board) was required for a resolution. Messy, I felt like a Karen and really not at the level of support previously experienced - although I should add with a different Aussie distributor. At one stage I had three of these units across my bikes and one on my partners bike. Recommended them to many and resulted in many more of their units on friends bikes. Accurate (my testing echoed all that Lama has found) and (for the most part) just 'worked'. All bar one have been terrific and easily survived overseas trips, racing through Belgium and many indoor training sessions. Funnily it was my newest unit that developed a problem and created the aforementioned situation wherein the unit was returned.
Of course this could happen with any brand and overall it's certainly still fair to say P2M make a great product. I would not have purchased as many as I had if they didn't. It is why I'm reticent to share this. Only my aftersales experience was so poor it bears worth mentioning. Especially as it was both the local distributor and P2M in Germany.
Hopefully though most people have the experience I have with my older units, being that they just work. No muss, no fuss (so you'll never need aftermarket support).

Thanx for the overdue review ;-)
One question about the install: In your time lapse video it seems like you did not have to re-adjust the front derailleure at all- so chainline came out exactly as with the stock shimano cranks?
I have an NGeco and while it works 100% great and reliable, the Rotor cranks not so much: Even without any spacers on the NDS the chainline is still a bit wider than 43.5mm and also the crank arms are not 100% centered. Also not a fan of the preload ring on the Rotors: really hard to adjust... because there is no knurling/grip on the opposing side of the pinch screw, the only place to grip the ring is on the pinch screw part, which compresses the ring while turning. Rotors 30mm Ring seems like a more sensible design, but it's probably incompatible. If someone knows a viable replacement part for the preload ring- I'm interested ;-)

I've have a p2m ng eco +-2% from 3 years ago, ordered a new one with +-1% 4S version. Tacx neo @200W , NG eco old 202.66 , NG eco new calibrated 202.73 on steady state 4 mins intervals. Practically the two p2m were within the ballpark of 0.5W of each other and they were 1-1.5% (that 0.5% was mostly my pedalling inefficiency) with the neo 2T. No professional lab env, just changing bikes mid ride, doing the same intervals, calibrating at the same time of each ride.

The chainline for the GRX compatible cranks is incorrect. They are not 2.5mm outboard like the stock GRX Cranks. This caused rubbing on the big ring while in the little ring and the 11/12 cogs. Support stated that I would just have to deal with it as is. I am going through the return process, as they are unwilling to help. Pretty disappointed, as the power comparisons that I ran were less than 2% when compared to a set of Assioma Duos.
