The suicide topic was on point. I think the priest could have stated it delicately but honestly. My husband committed suicide 30 years ago and left 3 children. I won't go into the circumstances. I still have mass said and still pray for his soul and have finally forgiven him. However, I don't kid myself to be confident that he made it. I will also continue prayers and hope that he can still make it to heaven. I believe prayers are never wasted.

My son (13) was doing some programming thing on scratch on the computer, in his own world, but each and every sneeze he responded to. By about the 25th, his voice was a bit more annoyed/ tired, but he kept on..

2:36:00 Biggest piece of advice I have is be available and approachable. What I mean is don't misinterpret the man needing to make the first move as meaning that you can't ever initiate conversation. You even see this on Catholic "dating" sites where women won't send the first message (the equivalent of saying "Hi" in the vestibule after Mass) because it's not "traditional." Also, don't run to your car right after Mass and expect a guy you've had you eye on to ever make a move. Hang out in the vestibule/parking lot/etc. stop in to the coffee hour.

As far as a conservative Catholic woman letting a man know that she likes him… find out what one of his favorite foods is and bring it to him, desserts are easy to transport so maybe cookies or brownies at first. To be clear, this will work with just about ANY man, not just a conservative Catholic. While it’s not exactly subtle, there’s also absolutely nothing that’s inappropriate or sexually suggestive about it.

On the issue of Libertarianism and Catholicism, I used to be a die-hard Libertarian and I'd still call myself libertarian, but not A Libertarian. My big post-libertarian moment was realising that while the market provides, and supply meets demand in a free market, this says nothing about what the demand is for. Free markets aren't a moral good, they're morally neutral. In terms of efficiency, unregulated markets are inassailable. But they provide negative products as well as positive ones: pornography and medicine, drugs and food.
A free market is the most efficient way to run an economy, but a healthy society needs someone to use force to protect it from subversion and corruption.

As Christians, we are called to rejoice but also, we know we are on a battlefield day in and day out while we are here. Therefore, our love for Christ expresses itself through respect, reverence and honour. Just as people would their king. He is our King of Kings and we are called to fight for His kingdom. This looks different each day. It looks like spiritual discipline, it looks like healing our own hearts through and with Christ, so we can be strong, it looks like showing up in our vocations and our relationships. To base our relationship with Him on good feelings is dangerous and automatically fatal. He is our refuge, in which He restores our hope and joy, He blesses us with these deep, sincere emotions, but it doesn’t always look like we imagine it in our finite, fleshly minds. It also is a process in getting to those moments because He is continually strengthening and refining us, which, is very challenging.

Potatoes 🥔 are from South America lol 😂. Yes, I get the joke and the stereotype. Just saying for those who don’t know.
Funny to think that an Irishman did not know what a potato was before the 1500s. Or an Italian what a Tomato 🍅 ( from Mexico) was before 1500.

In your face George! New to PWA and I have to admit I love this channel! The guests and the discussions, it's awesome! I actually finished this over about 4 days. I got through the remaining 2 hours whilst I put my vanity dresser together today. Lol. It was interesting to hear Seamus mention the part about not being so outwardly expressive about his faith at times. I often struggle with that too and I would think "Am I a bad Catholic?" for not being so that way about my faith but it does put me at ease to know that I'm not the only one who deals with those feelings. So thank you.

I’ve got to pints with aquinas via a small clip from the last time Michael knowles was on. I then wanted to watch the entire episode and I was sold. Now i listen them mostly on spotify while at work (in their entirety) and sometimes I’ll watch via UA-cam, then I watch the entire thing, although mostly not in one go.

Rumble is a joke and I am assuming Seamus saying they don't have a plethora of bugs was also.
I've been watching him, crowder, and rekeita on there for a couple months now and have yet to make it through one entire video without it pausing to load every 2 seconds or just stopping and restarting or just stop working all together.

When I hear men talking about "domination in the marriage", or "women have to submit to their husbands", but don't add that the man has to submit to his wife, it sounds like they are searching for a doormat. I always like how Matt Frad talks about marriage and how to be in a marriage, his words are full of wisdom.

Man has to submit to his wife? I remember no such bible verse.

@@namapalsu2364 I quoted Matt on this, he told that a bunch of times in few of the podcasts, idk if he is quoting the bible, or its his opinion, but I agree with it 100%, a women is not a doormat, she is her equel parter, (not talking equel as I spend with my kid 2 h, now you should do the same, or I wash half of the dishes and now you do the other half, no), the same way in an argument, if we are talking that doesn't mean that the man is always right. I think both the wife and the husband has to put effort in the marriage to make it work, that is what submit to each other means. One side submissions for me sounds like the man does what ever, he is always right etc and the women is a doormat.

@@tiesiai_per_aplinkui Submit is such that when there's a clash, the one who ought to submit, must yield. Any other definition would be a perversion of the original meaning (like gay "marriage").
It sucks. Heck, even the husband must also submit to his authorities (plural, cause their many. Priests, bishops, police, boss etc) per what's written in the bible. So, it sucks, sucks, sucks. But what are you gonna do? It's the word of eternal life (John 6:68).

@@namapalsu2364 basically the whole thing of ephesia s 5:22-33, so the line of the submission of the wife isn't the whole picture, which most chirstian men quote.

    • @namapalsu2364
      @namapalsu2364 Рік тому

@@tiesiai_per_aplinkui Of course it's not the whole picture. But it is one of the picture. So it can not be erase. Even by bringing up Eph 5:25-29 won't make Eph 5:22-24 disappear.
Both are also stand for themselves, such that two wrongs don't make a right. Meaning, if the wife does not submit, doesn't make Eph 5:25-29 ceases from binding. And if the husband does not love his wife etc, that also doesn't make Eph 5:22-24 ceases to be binding.
Suck to modern ears. But that's just the way it is. And it's cooler to go against the established mindset.
