@@blunewhouse7528 Thanks for sharing this amazing history lesson about Stevie Ray, just wow! I LOVE his playing-singing and SO wish he’d been on my radar back then as he played Tulsa, OK many times. @Talkin Bout Nawlins yep. Similar to another musical tragedy when Waylon Jennings flipped a coin with Buddy Holly on that fateful February night. So sad.

There's only the indulgency of gratification. Other than that, there is nothing to today's music. And its our fault for not teaching our young about what IS a GREAT MUSICIAN!!! I think that often, when Stevie would of heard drummers that could keep up with the notes he plays on double kick, it would of opened up whole new levels.

Still remember where I was when I heard of his death. I cried silently, took off my hard hat, and without another word, I left the job in Detroit I was working at as a contractor, and went home for the day to mourn. Terrible tragedy, unbelievable performer!
I was in Mpls on my roller skates in my apt after coming back from the Lake, my friend from Oklahoma was on the answering machine with the news. That night I went to the Minnesota State Fair and saw Jeff Healy and Bonnie Raitt.

Saw him the night before he died. I too was at work hanging 40 stories up on a scaffold. Had to get off at break time and go home. Was devastated. His soul was what put him above the rest in any genre. Over 30yrs and I still get choked up.
Remember Same Place I Was At When Heard !!! Summer Of 89 Was At Alpine For The Dead For 3 Dayz, & Skipped A Day & Saw The Who !!! All 4 Show"s During Late Afternoon I Would Stair At That Man Made Ski Slope 1/4 Mile Behind The Stage, & Could Not Believe Early 90 I Heard The New"s !!!! Not A Good Day !!!... B. Safe....Peace
What a rip off when he died .Finally got off the drugs and was smoking audiences . Most incredible guitarist I ever saw live in concert . Still blows me away like it was yesterday . Would have still been blowing us all away 20+ years later . No one like him before or since . RIP SRV loved you then and now .
About SRV. Saw him early in his career, about 200 showed up in a place that would seat 2000. After a couple of songs, he looked out at us, sat on the edge of the stage, and said, "There aren't many of us, but there's enough." He then sat there for the next 20 minutes and blew the top of my head off. Needless to say, will forever be a fan. Amazing talent - certainly would gave stayed a alternative to the sad current pop strain.
He knew the one true lesson about live music. What the audience feels and how the performer feels back. I remember playing to 4 people. .... They drove 80 miles in bad weather to hear us.... Stevie obviously knew that it ain't the number of people... it's their love of the music done with your personal signature on it. Great song - great bass great drum kick and pretty fair guitar dood.
@@terrylodercreative Thanks. Notification of your reply brought me back here on a particularly scattered morning, and it was just what I needed. Good to get re-grounded once in a while.
@@dalebuckley8593 Glad you felt something positive at the right time. Often, it's the music, sometimes it's the way we express what it's like to share it with the world.
Before the concert began, there were several southern state flags (rebel flag)among the audience.Stevie went on the tendon, and refused to play, until all the rebel flags w......as gone. I'm from... texsas, but I'm not a rasist, he said and left tendon. 5 minutes later was all rebel flags away, and Stevie kick started the best concert I have ever experienced Vis mere Vis mere
Everytime i watch Stevie, it still feels like as though i will soon be able to see him live. You touched many peoples lives Stevie. God rest your soul. Love you SRV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard Double Trouble with Joe Bonamassa in Colorado. They killed it, for real. SRV knew what he had. That kick - that bass - and Reese Wynans on the keyboards was just a monster BuhhLoooooze foundation. You couldn't help but feel SRV's fingers in the pie. Unforgettable.
“South Side Chicago will think of him often, talking bout Willy The Wimp & his Cadillac Coffin” 1 of my personal top 10 favorite classic rock songs! Just a great beat, melody, lyrics & story all wrapped into 1
I feel privileged that I got to see him do this song in concert. he was a level above anyone else. he would whip the crowd into a frenzy, mellow us out and send us home. I believe he was honestly concerned for our safety and sent us on our way not screaming and crazy but relaxed. he had that much control over the crowed. I saw him five times and they were the five best shows of my life. no one else is/ was even close.
I saw him 3 times- 2 on Beal Street pop-in plays( dive bars) and once at mud island. I was 19 years old! His talent was way ahead of his time! Damn, wish I would have had a smartphone in 88-89.
Totaly agree. Possibly ,if not the greatest, the most enthusiastic player you could hope to see. This is heart and soul playing. 'Tune low, Play hard and floor it'
I still play some SRV privately to my own recorded backing tracks. I always feel good about it. Then I play his version and shake my head. I belong in the basement. ha What makes it worse is I'm more the vocalist but I play the guitar myself. A bit like a puppy barkin at a pit bull.
Stevie, I can't believe how many more of your albums are released For instance, Your "Mary had a little lamb" was released after you died & I was born. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! I even know one more thing, How much you enjoyed playing with Tommy & Chris before you & Double Trouble added Reese. But then again I even know how much you enjoyed playing for the people that attended your shows, SRV, There's one person I know that saw you & Double Trouble In concert when he was 18. & that was my dad! RIP Stevie.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is alway's HOT! In every way possible! Ladies you know what I mean!!!!! This particular version of "Willie the Wimp," is his best ever, that I have found on u-tube. Not a single person, can be anymore passionate as he was on stage. He gave every single lick, on his instrument, with all that was in him! 👍❤️😎🙏
Yes he was heart stop skip beat so beautiful he made me feel his heart and soul I couldn’t see or hear him after he died brought so much pain he’s the only one who truly touched my heart ❤️
I sure DO know - EXACTLY what you mean! 🤩 I’m a southern lady with a slight drawl accent and Stevie’s voice - drives me mad -😍 he’s so dang sexy!!! And the way he strums those strings…
What is your favourite song or video mine is all of them but I don’t know why life without you hits so hard his raspy quiet voice on that is so sexy and change it
Almost superhuman chops on the guitar, an uncanny ability to write songs, and that voice - he was talented beyond description. Sometimes I ask God if we can have him back if we agree to give up Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and all the Kardashian's...
this is what i love about stevie.... every song is played like its the final song ever. i just saw kenny wayne last week in morristown nj. and it was missing this kind of passion.
Especially back in those days, pre- NATO. Wouldn't put it past SRV to joke that the Russians will probably bomb us before we hit the stage. It's too safe now, or is it
Kenny has a singer most times. He feels it in his guitar, that's clear. But someone else does the vocals. Some tracks are beautiful and strong. (Blue on Black....) SRV was a single conduit; the guitar AND the vocal. It's a tidal wave of expression that sweeps you up and carry you along. Sitll, some people aren't so hot on him. It's OK though, isn't it?
How awesome to see an outrageously talented guy own his problems, grab his demons & conquer them. This was a great loss. It must be really nice to have people that actually support you & stay by your side instead of abandoning them & betraying them----and then spreading horrible rumors about you. Time brings out the truth though---maybe not today or tomorrow or next week, but in time, everything comes out.
Stevie Ray Vaughan the legend of blue's and Rock n roll..guitar legend and great vocalist..great band..what a performance and concerts were phenominal..never be another SRV..U are missed SRV
He was totally humble about who he was and laid a lot of what he could do on a foundation of the Blues giants, Hendrix and all the players that make Blues a powerful fraternity. Some people aren't crazy about the Blues. But it's OK. We're fine.
I'm sure SRV would say: "Cool, Blues Man. Just have at it." Be you. That's how the Blues rolls. Our influences bring us Joy we express in vocals and instruments. RIght?
My drummer partied with SRV in the 80's, and even got to jam during his sound check....SRV is my main influence,, and I am so jealous that he got to meet him in a way.
One thing that really blows me away about SRV, is not only is he one of the greatest guitar players, theres only a handful of virtuosos that can do that
if I was a guess joining on stage as another guitar player I would be scared shitless to jump on the stage with Stevie .....He just has the most intense bone shaking tone and playability
It doesn't matter who was better. Jimi or Stevie. The spirit of Hendrix (one of Stevie's idols) was improv, taking it to that next step. SRV wasn't afraid to try new things. And he always pushed the envelope. A trait that he surely learned from listening greats such as Jimi, and Clapton, and Buddy Guy. So I submit that it doesn't matter who was the best. They both bring something different to the table. If you ask me... Stevie just picked up where Jimi left off. RIP both greats
Stevie live sounded better than a lot of people could do in the studio. An unbelievable talent.
I seen him live outdoors in st.paul.tripping on LSD..EXCELLENT

Fine red suit had the whole town talking
Willie the Wimp and his Cadillac coffin
Yeah, Willie the Wimp and his Cadillac coffin
In his Cadillac to Heaven he was waving the banner

Hello and Good bye to Stevie! RIP Stevie. We all lost a great one.
What a rip off when he died .Finally got off the drugs and was smoking audiences . Most incredible guitarist I ever saw live in concert . Still blows me away like it was yesterday . Would have still been blowing us all away 20+ years later . No one like him before or since . RIP SRV loved you then and now .
That tone at 3:55 is larger than life. I’ve listened to a lot of music and guitarists and never heard anything like that!
He was the most incredible guitar slinger there ever was.
Thick strings, tons of gain and Stevies insane attack 💪
Yep! He was divinely blessed with very strong hands & fingers, especially considering his smaller stature. Perfectly formed…to grip and strum…❤🎉
He will always be our young Stevie❤❤
I highly recommend Stevie's "Soundcheck" vid if you haven't already experienced it. In-fu*king-credible. 🤗💙💛✊🤙
Before the concert began, there were several southern state flags (rebel flag)among the audience.Stevie went on the tendon, and refused to play, until all the rebel flags w......as gone.
I'm from... texsas, but I'm not a rasist, he said and left tendon. 5 minutes later was all rebel flags away, and Stevie kick started the best concert I have ever experienced

No body ever came or ever will come close to SRV.
I agree!!
S Pag You are a wise women.
false Hendrix is god without him Stevie would have no blueprint to build on
It still doesn't negate the fact that Stevie surpassed him. P.S. Hendrix had blueprints to work from also and he's not a god.
eh.... stevie rules, but thinking in those terms is not really helpful.. so many amazing guitarists / musicians...
Everytime i watch Stevie, it still feels like as though i will soon be able to see him live. You touched many peoples lives Stevie. God rest your soul. Love you SRV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best guitarist for my money.
Congratulations Stevie & Double Trouble on making the Rock & Roll hall of Fame...
Thanks for writing your music.

Hey , It's called keeping Stevie alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 18, 2015
I heard Double Trouble with Joe Bonamassa in Colorado. They killed it, for real. SRV knew what he had. That kick - that bass - and Reese Wynans on the keyboards was just a monster BuhhLoooooze foundation. You couldn't help but feel SRV's fingers in the pie. Unforgettable.
@@terrylodercreative Yea, Chris Layton is with Kenny Wayne Shepard too. I saw KWS!
Let's face it , that was as easy to figure out as anything !!
I have always wondered where this show took place ?? ❤️
Totaly agree. Possibly ,if not the greatest, the most enthusiastic player you could hope to see. This is heart and soul playing. 'Tune low, Play hard and floor it'
No one can sing this like Stevie!!!
I still play some SRV privately to my own recorded backing tracks. I always feel good about it. Then I play his version and shake my head. I belong in the basement. ha What makes it worse is I'm more the vocalist but I play the guitar myself. A bit like a puppy barkin at a pit bull.
He was so excellent. A true case of a broken mold. Never be another like him.
Stevie,
I can't believe how many more of your albums are released For instance, Your "Mary had a little lamb" was released after you died & I was born.
RIP Stevie.
RIP stevie
Stevie Ray Vaughan is alway's HOT! In every way possible! Ladies you know what I mean!!!!! This particular version of "Willie the Wimp," is his best ever, that I have found on u-tube. Not a single person, can be anymore passionate as he was on stage. He gave every single lick, on his instrument, with all that was in him! 👍❤️😎🙏
Know exactly what you mean
Yes he was heart stop skip beat so beautiful he made me feel his heart and soul I couldn’t see or hear him after he died brought so much pain he’s the only one who truly touched my heart ❤️
@@evilokram1 Yes....I feel the same way.
He can have all parppers too
Betcha Stevie would say there's room for both. We all like what we like. Simple deal really, right?
this is what i love about stevie.... every song is played like its the final song ever.
i just saw kenny wayne last week in morristown nj. and it was missing this kind of passion.
I haven't seen Kenny since before he married Mel Gibson's daughter. Sad to hear he lost the passion. Heh? Heh?
Jeffrey Raney Hah! I see what you did there!
Stevie was definitely the master of guitar. Drummer was grreat
Scot Summerfield Chris Leyton
Chris is now the drummer for Kenny Wayne Shepard
Stevie Ray Vaughan the legend of blue's and Rock n roll..guitar legend and great vocalist..great band..what a performance and concerts were phenominal..never be another SRV..U are missed SRV
He was totally humble about who he was and laid a lot of what he could do on a foundation of the Blues giants, Hendrix and all the players that make Blues a powerful fraternity. Some people aren't crazy about the Blues. But it's OK. We're fine.
Amazing playing! And he looks so happy!! Not many people in the world are this happy at work! :-)
Man I have been at it over 20 years, still don't get close to this man on guitar.
I'm sure SRV would say: "Cool, Blues Man. Just have at it." Be you. That's how the Blues rolls. Our influences bring us Joy we express in vocals and instruments. RIght?
We will miss him forever no one will ever replace him
Best version of this song I have heard or seen!!!! Killer Solo!!!!!
I have GREAT taste in music....The man, NO myth, And ALL legend...SRV..
SRV is da man! His music will keep him alive for ever!
This beautiful, cool, talented , joyful, warm hearted, soulful man! Soo missed....................
Who says ya can't take it with ya when you go.... Not Willie..
Saw Stevie and Jeff Beck together on the same billing in B'ham AL. at the Boutwell Aud.
edwin bruner You’re very lucky 😃
I saw that same tour in Austin, Texas. Mind blowing shit!
Wow.
Life without you , Stevie Ray vaughan
When I'm ever feeling down Stevie helps me through the day :)
My drummer partied with SRV in the 80's, and even got to jam during his sound check....SRV is my main influence,, and I am so jealous that he got to meet him in a way.
I come back to this clip regularly, it's a great source of inspiration.
One thing that really blows me away about SRV, is not only is he one of the greatest guitar players, theres only a handful of virtuosos that can do that
I Love SRV ...I Like The Vid .
if I was a guess joining on stage as another guitar player I would be scared shitless to jump on the stage with Stevie .....He just has the most intense bone shaking tone and playability
Well you can only bet Eric Clapton bent over and kissed his lucky ass that he didn't get on that helicopter.
