    I never thought of putting a facing on a quilt! This opens a whole new dimension in quilt-making! Great!

      I use Fiskars pinking shears and I love them! I also use the pinking blade in my Olfa rotary cutter and that works well, too.

    Recently watched this facing technique on back of Grandmother's Garden - hand pieced. The back inside was a straight seam. The entire facing was the width of one half of the hexagon; corners were faced with an entire hexagon; was quite beautiful!

    You just showed me how I will finish one of my current quilts in progress. It is a bed sized quilt so I will use strips. Thank you!

    I love everything you do, but I'm not especially fond of that wide facing. I may try it with a more narrow facing. Thanks!!

    So you do a big quilt like that or squares and put them together? If you made a big one seems like a waste of fabric. Thanks for doing the video.

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  5 років тому

      Hi Donna, generally quilts with facings are smaller, art quilts but it could be done on a big quilt. Instead of one large piece of fabric you would use strips of fabrics. I'll try to do a video on it :)

    Is this okay to use on a quilt that going to be used and washed, or mainly for art quilts? Love it, very nice technique.

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  6 років тому +3

      Hi Carol - it generally is used on more art quilt type but i can think of no reason why it's couldn't be on a bed quilt - I could think that after you have stitched it to the back, if you do a line of top stitching through all the layers a 1/4-1/2" in from the edge it would be as strong as any binding :)

    If you are making a wall hanging, how would you add a sleeve to hang it?? Or is there another way to hang it?

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  5 років тому

      Hi Elizabeth - it all depends for me personally. If it for me I often times will just poke a pin through the quilt into the drywall - probably not the most professional thing but it works for small wall hanging. if it will be shown i do always put a sleeve on it. you can make them a little smaller, it just depends on what you plan to put through the sleeve.
