As some American courts have ruled, intelligence is NOT, repeat, NOT a requirement to becoming a member of law enforcement. And, as Mr. Steve Lehto has recently pointed out on his channel, some schools in Louisiana are selling HS diplomas for less than $500 , which provides a ready source of 'education' for potential recruits seeking to become members of the 'brotherhood of the badge".

I went to court for stunting in a Dauphin, MB courtroom. The cops "witness" was a Winnipegosis town drunk who was being released from an overnight stay in the drunk tank when he saw me on an atv (driving on two tires, not a wheelie alternating left side then right side with donuts in between.) and went back to the station to report me. When the officer first approached me and asked me my name I told him "Ben", he then asked me "Is that you're full name then". To which I replied "If I told a five year old my name was Ben they would know thats not my full name". He then asked me if I had my licence on me to which I informed him I was going to be going through mud and water and didn't want to loose or damage my wallet in those conditions. He then had an emergency call on his radio and told me he would come by my house later to talk to me. Later when he came to my house and asked me if I wanted a ticket for not having my license on me (off road) I told him "I would rather get a fine for assaulting an officer" he then asked me If i was threatening him and I said "no I would just rather that ticket at the moment". They tried the whole stunting gig but I self represented and the judge told the crown prosecutor to shut up at one point as the idiot had no idea what he was talking about and his witness (town drunk) showed up completely pickled and couldnt even rember the day in question and thought he was summoned for something he had done. In the end the judge agreed that I was driving the atv as intended (it was a non work solid axle recreation/play model) in a recreation area that was safe to do so and the charge was dismissed. However the loud mouth before me who told the judge that he was the only one not being paid to be there and it was his responsibility to fight any fine even if he had done something, did get his fine quadrupled for wasting the court and everyone's time.

@@timkellyD2R Most states have a similar named law but it's limited to performing actual stunts or driving on a road for a bet or wager. Basically it would be limited to street racers, or as a side charge on the more serious dangerous driving crime if the dangerous driving was for performance rather than trying to get away. It's vastly more easy for an officer to get a ticket upheld for any number of nonsense like speeding, crossing a traffic line, not signaling, plate lights, tint, blocking traffic, following too close, not signaling early enough (sometime as much as 250 feet is the state law). While stunting in the US tends to be limited to being able to prove money was bet on a race.
In Canada due to the open wording of the text of the law (ignoring all the case law), it's common for police to throw in a stunting charge to get back at people they don't like or offended them during a traffic stop.

I was on the sidewalk in front of my house waiting for him to come back, and when I saw his car approach I immediately gave him the finger, just as many friends do. He pulled over and parked the car, handed me a slurpee and we were laughing, but a cop had seen me give him the finger and chose to hassle me about it. He literally told me I could be fined for "stunting". All these years later I finally find out the truth. Thanks Ian!

This a perfect example of police using the legal process as the punishment, especially for 'contempt of cop' issues. Police that do this are just demonstrating corruption that likely pervades theirdaily behaviour on and off the job. These are disgusting people.

You have to sue the police in the higher court (Court of King's Bench) which will be costly. Who wants to pay $1000's for a lawyer to fight a $500 ticket?
The Alberta small claims court lacks the authority to hear civil claims against peace officers; s 9.6 (2)(d) the Provincial Court Act, RSA 2000, c P- 31. It is not that the badge wearing tyrants don't "understand your rights", it IS that they have been 'trained' to view our rights as an impediment to them, that prevents them (law enforcement) from doing their job.
And, assuming, that Canadian law enforcement has accepted "training assistance" from the FBI, there is no reason to believe that the Federal Bureau of Incompetence, has made a point of emphasizing the hatred that law enforcement has for INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM, and therefore, the necessity of continuing the expansion of law enforcement's long desired establishment of a all-controlling police state.
The passage of the American "Patriot Act" gave ALL levels of law enforcement a giant boost in this quest, and with the FBI and Homeland Security defining Christians, veterans, gun owners, and those who oppose stricter government interference with our daily life, as "domestic terrorists", it has been made clear that law enforcement has declared war on LIBERTY.

“Capital must protect itself in every possible manner by combination and legislation. Debts must be collected, bonds and mortgages must be foreclosed as rapidly as possible.
When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government, applied by a central power of wealth under control of leading financiers.
This truth is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of Capital to govern the world. By dividing the voters through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance.
Thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves what has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished.”

Any petty thing that bothers an officer or MP but is not specifically proscribed will draw that charge.

Hands went up, he chose a subject, and asked what the speed limit was at an intersection several kilometres away. The student did not know, Really? It's the law. Or at least it's "a" law so...

Law enforcement agencies actively avoid hiring people who are fully informed on your legal rights, because people who're informed usually have strong opinions on where they think the law is wrong, meaning if they're hired as law enforcement, they're more likely to selectively enforce based on those strong opinions rather than just doing what they're told.

I live in Alberta. During lockdowns I googled the emails of the head of RCMP in Canada. I used strong language and was visited three times at home and once at work. At no point did I break the law. I know RCMP or police need to follow the laws but seeing a couple people outside with no one else around outside in winter on ice playing hockey get arrested...WTF. I kept sending emails never threatening or acting a fool but pulling up news stories asking "WTF are you **** idiots doing" I'm old enough to know RCMP/police in Canada are better than in most places but when they happily arrest 2-5 people outside in the middle of nowhere in winter because they shouldn't be on a skating rink...My respect for police & RCMP is coming back but gone are the days when I had complete respect for what they do. It's insane what people will do if you give them money. It's mutated. It's worse. Less choose to take it. But here we are still living. Where are the lockdowns? Where are police knocking down doors?...Ian has a chill channel with a mix of people on all sides who live in peace. Props to those who donated on the recent stream. I have been out of law enforcement now for over 20 years. That said, when I was a cop, I served from the rank of patrolman to Chief of Police when I medically retired. Thing is, cops are taught not the law, but how to enforce the law. Sure when the legislature finishes for their in session, the State would send out a representative to inform us of all the changes in the law, bur at no time during our police training at the academy were we taught how the law itself worked. Sure we were taught general code stuff about traffic enforcement, accident investigation, criminal investigation but that was the basics. I had quite an awakening when I went to college after an accident took me off the line, there I studied to be a legal assistant, that was, in short a cram course in what lawyers do and how to research the law then prepare documents that are used in court. I found myself wishing I had that education before taking to the street in my squad car, things would have been so much easier and understandable. I can see that there is no way that we can send every officer to an additional 2 years to study the law, but I do believe that some of the courses we took should be taught to police officer candidates who also attended the college where I graduated with my degree as a Legal Assistant.
