You do an excellent job selling the game's movement in a super easy to watch way! Always loved the leniency that King of Cards gave - King Knight always feels super overpowered due to the sheer amount of options vestments provide - and you do a fantastic job translating that into how to highlight his movement best. Really well done! ... but I like card games tho...
This game is majorly under appreciated. You have so many options to get through the game, and none of the upgrades are required, and the constant involvement in micromanaging the mechanics of just moving optimally. Although I still like Spectre of Torment more, King of Cards is the better speed game.
Great video! It encapsulates everything that makes this such a fun and accessible speedgame. Makes me want to pick it up again. I fear for any new runners who go in blind to the nightmare that is Boss RNG though...
I’ve always been interested in what techniques speedrunners use to save time in their games, but this is the only video that makes those techniques seem as hype as they are!!
It's funny... Playing King Knight with Lightweight Plate is probably my favorite way to play in the entire Treasure Torve collection. I feel like this lightning quick badass who can blitz through the game world and beat anything into submission. Truly ironic considering what a selfish loser King Knight is as a person.
Wonderful selection of AA music. Didn't even know/remember King of Cards was playable until today, but you almost convinced me to play Shovel Knight (gaming backlog too big).
Hi, so I may be a year late to this video, but I do have a question: How in the same sweet hell do you only have 135 subscribers?! (136 now :D) This video is so well made! You covered practically everything anyone would need to start up their own runs and everything was organized in a neat, well edited, professional manner! You deserve more attention, this kinda stuff is imaculet!
I found this amazing video because I forgot how to do the roll after shoulder bash. I loved Spectre Knight's campaign, I played it on the 3DS, but for King of Cards I'm playing it on Citra on Android, as my 3DS is not working correctly, and it has been quite fun to play.
I've attempted this Speedrun before seeing this video, so here's what I did: No relics, no Armor, no upgrades, no Joustus, no Glitches, no Bi- I went for upper level route on Pridemoor Keep, Lowe Route on the Grotto, and Upper route on the Cliffs, of course taking secret exits and such I didn't record any of it, it was mostly a goof I did with my girl on a Google Meet session, I was mostly rolling and bashing everywhere, many laughs and many files copied. I wasn't even able to defeat Specter Knight quick enough to avoid his transformation Nevertheless, I got a great, sweet time of 43 minutes and 43 seconds, a bit less of a half of what the "Hurry Up!" achievement requires (which was the main goal of that 1-viewer stream I'm mostly a causal player, but I meant business when I was playing that run. Even better, this file was copied and soon pasted to get the "Fearless Champ" achievement on that one, but we'll get to that on another day. For now, I'm glad with the time I got, and I'm currently trying to see what my best time on Specter of Torment can be
I downloaded Treasure Trove a couple weeks ago, and I've beaten all the other modes several times, but I tried KoC once and got turned off by the Joustus, not even realizing that that was totally optional until watching this video.
King knight is probably my favorite out of all 4 campaigns (I also really like showdown) I've never really gotten into speed running, but now I'm definitely considering this game.
Wonderful work here, but I have a few questions. 1. There's a surprisingly small amount of bubblefrog use in this video, why is that? 2. What's speed running like for new game plus? You're limited to *4 max hp* through the entire game, a different way of casting magic (using gold) and I think faster movement, but I might be wrong on that last one.
1. The any% route only picks up the turn coat and charge bash since you barely go out of your way for them. Picking up the bubble frog would make you reroute the stages away from the fastest choices, it's not available for as long as the turn coat, and if I remember correctly, using it halts your horizontal movement and forces you into its animation for a while, which is really bad for speed. 2. New game plus is an incredible category that lets you spam effectively infinite sub weapons since you're only limited by the maxed out gold pool. Most experienced runners don't get hit much anyways, so the health constraint isn't a huge issue for those that attempt the category. I really recommend checking out the world record by Norkas here: ua-cam.com/video/otgChf380ds/v-deo.html
just because game doesnt have complex dash doesnt matter it has bad platforming. Hollow knight white palace and path of pain was quite fun and i enjoy them. Alsl shovel knight doesnt have dash at all and his platforming is fun too (at least i had but i am casual)
This guy really unironically says that shovel knight has more fluid control than hollow knight? Lol. For casual players, the shovel knight characters move like a truck while hollow knight is tight snappy and hyper responsive. Wrong game to hate on man. :P
@@Dieselnaut16 I just dislike how shovel knight has momentum, if you stop moving you can't immediately turn around and you still slide forwards a bit. There's an armor that exaggerates this mechanic and is really unsatisfying to play with. Hollow Knight also has faster animation cancels, you can correct your movement better, whereas you can easily plummet to your doom if you mistime a plague knight charge bomb. (The enormous knockback when hit doesn't help) It was wrong for me to call out the "fluid" movement as this is unrelated to my point, but for a game with platforming elements, in my opinion the tight and responsive controls of hollow knight will feel superior for the average player. I wouldn't hate on the hollow knight controls when comparing the 2 games and their platforming aspects.
I remember Hollow Knight being more boring and in that way unsatisfying though, especially noticable when backtracking through areas. On the other hand, everyone except Shovel Knight himself (who's just basic) was a blast to play in Treasure Trove. And Shovel Knight's weightiness also is subjective, I thought the way Hollow Knight almost snaps when he pogo bounces made me feel less "sure and stable" than when playing SK.
My favorite game of the past couple years! King of Cards really encompasses the best of what Shovel Knight has to offer. So, so good!

1:35 if you actually speedrun with a wiimote, I have so much respect for you.
Also, code SK&ULT! gives you godmode, Super speed, super high jumps, and you start with all the accessories and stuff
Great video! It encapsulates everything that makes this such a fun and accessible speedgame. Makes me want to pick it up again.

The base movement in this campaign is enough to keep it as my favourite. Fun and simple but satisfying to master
YES I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SOOOOO LONG
This is a top-tier hidden gem of UA-cam, I hope the algorithm blesses you in the future!
Just started speedruning King of Cards and its so much fun
I’ve always been interested in what techniques speedrunners use to save time in their games, but this is the only video that makes those techniques seem as hype as they are!!
Have you seen the channel lowest percent? They have great videos like this

Before watching this video, I was loving Shovel Kinght
Now, I love it even more
7:45 “king knight NO!”
Wonderful selection of AA music. Didn't even know/remember King of Cards was playable until today, but you almost convinced me to play Shovel Knight (gaming backlog too big).
great content man!
Time to get a 3ds capture card and try to get those feats I still have left, then I’ll ball!
Saw the link on Reddit. Really nice video man! Shovel knight rules!

saw you on reddit! great content!!
this is the definition of underrated
Good music choices, don't think I've ever seen a video using TGAA bgm
This is my favorite game in Treasure Trove by a country mile.
I found this amazing video because I forgot how to do the roll after shoulder bash.

Was already planning to replay Shovel Knight and now i'm fully motivated... i'll just beat the Kirby games i need to beat

Wow i never realised turn coat was so good

16:42 you are Messenger shopkeeper
Nice reference
@@vmrrobotic7069 thanks
Damn, such a good video!
Plague knight or Scepter knight are def my favorites
Speed unparalleled.
Looks like someone likes The Great Ace Attorney.
I am just trying to get the under 1:30 achievement so the fact that the highest speedruns are 1/3 of that gives me hope that i can do it.
Ima join the discord, I’m genuinely interested in speedrunning this game and would like to learn more about it
What a great game!
ive always had a hard time trying to speedrun. i find it hard to ignore large parts of games just to go faster.
I would have gone and played some Shovel Knight after watching your video. Then remembered I have more than 600 hours played already. LUL

really cool video. you should have used the actual soundtrack of the game though
just because game doesnt have complex dash doesnt matter it has bad platforming. Hollow knight white palace and path of pain was quite fun and i enjoy them. Alsl shovel knight doesnt have dash at all and his platforming is fun too (at least i had but i am casual)
Dang you deserve way more subs than you have
I don't know how to explain to you that I find the card game part of this card game fun and want to consume it
Now if only I wasn’t absolute sh*t at the endgame levels.
Wtf 439 subs? This content is way too high quality for numbers like that, and probably even less when this was uploaded!
Speedran for the achievement
Why is king knight pink and spectre purple though?
Different armours
@@epilepticsquid8856They are not armour. They are skins via cheat codes
cool
uhhh I already have the game
Dash slash 20 hours in and you are complaining? Hahahahahahahaha!
Ha
the fire tv version sucked because you always have a 99% chance that your game will crash
I suck at speed running.
I'm sorry but the sped up Ace Attorney music absolutely kills my ability to listen to this video 😢

Hollow Knight is my favourite game of all time and I can safely say that King of Cards 100% has better and more fluid movement
