I grew up in Maryland in the 70's and 80's. So I've been to a lot of those places. Harpers Ferry being one of them. In fact, in about 1979 or 1980, I went with the Boy Scouts and went white water rafting down that river at 7:45, it was a blast. As a 10 or 11 year old, it was 'high adventure'! lol. That bridge repair, looking like it was repaired with plywood was probably just a plywood form for concrete behind it. Once the concrete is set, the plywood would be removed. If you ever come back to the U.S. and are on the east coast, let me suggest Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown. On a note about West Virginia, it was actually formed as a state, unconstitutionally (illegally), during the Civil War. All of West Virginia used to be part of Virginia, but West Virginia was torn away from Virginia and formed as a Union State (around 1863 if I recall correctly). It will never be reunited with Virginia to make a single state again, but it is an interesting footnote in history. What is 50 states, should (constitutionally), be 49.
WV is truly God's country. I stayed there about 6 months hiking the mountains in the middle of winter in 1999-2000. Not the best time to hike mountains lol, but even then i really appreciated the true natural beauty and AWE of the state.
I’m really enjoying these American videos, Marie. You make America look so good! And I love your sense of joy and wonder at everything, especially animals. 👍
I retired about 15 minutes from Harpers Ferry. This is a great area. Beautiful rivers full of smallmouth bass and other gamefish. Great restaurants, microbreweries and wineries all through the area and, finally, history everywhere you turn from the revolutionary war thru the civil war. Harpers Ferry is where John Brown lit the fuse.
It is too bad that you cannot see every state in America. Each state has its own beauty and uniqueness. I have lived in Connecticut, California, Arizona, Mississippi, and now, Virginia.
I love how I'm learning about the region where I live (and new places to explore) from a French tourist! The thoughtfulness of your videos and your sunny outlook is truly FrenchTastic. Thanks for your videos!
Deer are the most dangerous animals in the US for human injuries or death. I have hit a full buck at 60 mph at dawn. I was very lucky, the deer was not. Animals are frequently moving at dawn and dusk when it is hard to see them.
Harpers Ferry, about an hours drive for me, been through there many times. You were on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia, but the bridge you crossed in Harpers Ferry was also the AT. There are many vloggers just like you that hike the entire AT and vlog about it every day for many months, some heading north, some heading south. Should be easy to find on the internet if you are interested.
Road trips are popular in America and a rite of passage for most young adults. Off the road (sometimes barely) but off radar are amazing and/or bizarre things. See: (on YT) Lucas, Ks, Cahokia Mounds, Exodusters, The Steamboat Arabia (KC, Mo), Pullman Car Museum (near Chicago) Mastodon State Park (Imperial, Mo), The Blue Whale (Route 66), Soulsby Shell Service Station-Mt. Olive, IL, New Ulm, Mn German Festival, Mesa Verde's Cliff Dwellings, Custer State Park (Custer, South Dakota), Tractor Pulls, U.S. Air Force Academy (open to public, Colorado Springs, Co), Quilt Exhibition Museum in a rest area, (Exit #7, I-24) Paducah, Ky, Metropolis, IL. (home of Superman sort of), The former largest McDonalds over highway (Oklahoma, I-44), The natural hot springs bath houses of 1920s gangsters (Hot Springs, Ark.), Devil's Tower, Union Pacific's Bailey Yards (trainyards Nebraska), Black Canyon of the Gunnison (Colorado), The Million Dollar Highway (Colorado) or Rocky Mountain Park's Trail Ridge Road, The elks that plague Estes Park, Co., drive to the top of Pike's Peak (14,454 ft. Colorado Springs, Co), The Silverton Durango Railroad, the mansions of Lookout Drive (Peoria IL and old vaudeville), The Great Scenic River Road (Mississippi River), anyways no matter which direction with some research all along the way is littered with unique or interesting things, sometimes outrageous and hilarious. See YT video CBS Sunday Morning, "Reunion of Presidential Relatives," Marshfield, Mo. You did an amazing job with your choices and time frame for a first visit.
What a nice video! I love the Appalachian Trail, but haven’t been able to get back there for many years. You showed you are a true animal lover by your appreciative reaction to the Black Rat Snake( by the way, even though that was an adult, they get much larger).sadly , some people would not have had that reaction. I’m glad you got to see a very historic and at the same time very beautiful part of this country. Im so glad you’re having such a great time. Very happy for you! Thank you for making my Sunday much brighter!!!😎👍👍👍
This brought back some great memories. I got to visit Harper's Ferry on my first trip to the USA in February 2007. I managed to take some great photos, including one of a group of about nine eagles circling above the town and also of the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah. A very cold but memorable day.
Where are you from? Yes, Virginia is still rather north, and stays colder than places like Georgia or South Carolina. I am glad you enjoyed your time here and do hope you make it back!
I hiked the entire Appalachian trail 2015. It was absolutely amazing. 2.1k miles and took about 4/5 months. Harpers ferry was one of my favorite towns on the trail. I hope you enjoyed our beautiful country 👋🏻
Wow! S - A - L - U - T - E !! The A.T. was my dream, back when walking 12-15 miles in a day was no big deal! Now? Doing 1/10 of that has me wishing for a codeine tablet!
Very impressive! For Europeans, the 2,178 miles of the Appalachian Trail is enough to walk from Paris to Moscow with enough left over to come back as far as Stockholm. And that's the narrow direction of the US.
My dad and I took a Bicentennial trip in 1976, and Harper's Ferry was one of our stops. It became my favorite stop from the whole trip. I've always wanted to go back, but never have.
I am lucky to live about 45 minutes from Harper's Ferry - you had such a beautiful day to be there! Also, that Bass Pro Shop is about 20 minutes from me - we're going to that mall tonight....
Oh my dear Marie you are still eating burgers and fries in all of your videos. The French people watching are going to think that we eat burgers everyday. lol.. I always suspend my normal diet when I go on vacation. And I can just imagine that you have been completely overwhelmed by all of the choices. Even when I visit my family in California its like so many new options there that we don't have in my new home state of Washington. So prepare yourself in advance if you are going to California or Las Vegas. Too many places to eat..♥
Welcome back to my home state of West Virginia. I hope you enjoy it. Loads of history in that little town and area. The trail is amazing and long.... If you ever get back to W.V. you need to go to Cass Scenic Railroad. It was a part of a logging operation. They logged that mountain from the late 1800's until the 1960's. It is so impressive! You would love it... Thanks for coming... And take care of yourself.
Another great video Marie ! You truly look right at home on the Appalachian Trail ! It’s really great that you got to experience this side of the US before Baltimore and NYC ! As for the hamburger 🍔: tu as évité un cauchemar récurrent au moins en utilisant pas la fourchette redoutée ! 😉🤯👍🥰 ( at least you avoided a recurrent nightmare by not using the dreaded fork ! 😉🤯👍🥰)
I am really enjoying your videos of your trip to America. I am also glad that you got to see this part of the country. It is beautiful. You probably know by now but the AT is 3,430 km long. Hiked it many times.
Do you know what the most deadly animal is in the US? It's deer. Collisions with cars kill so many people. I was brought up in north central Pennsylvania. Once I began driving, I was told if a deer crosses in front of you, slow way down, and watch where it came from for the next deer to jump in front of you. People tend to "Oh look. A deer.", and watch the deer that ran across, and they never see the next one.
I love Harper's Ferry! My mother's ancestors are from there and she grew up there. My grandfather was the mayor for quite a few years but I haven't been back since he died in 1981.
bass pro always is fun as you see so much different stuff in one place. in orlando you see tons of saltwater fishing stuff and no snow stuff because it doesn't snow at all here. hunting is legal but often bows are used as they are less damaging and it feels nicer. i constantly watch the huge fish tank in mine. that trail is ridiculous as it takes like four months to do and people have done it just walking it. it can get challenging too if you aren't prepared. and also the food isn't that greasy just you aren't really used to it. italian food has a lot of hidden fat in dishes. you honestly see different things where you are in the statesso you can really understand. you see conch in florida but no where else, hogfish is big but not elsewhere, key limes you see only here as they can't be transported very far. you kinda get the idea. always ask for a good local place so you can try good local food.
I’m so happy you got to see a piece of the Appalachian Trail. I am attempting it next year North bound or NOBO From Springer Mountain Georgia to Mt Katahdin Maine approximately 2180 miles . I wish you would have see an AT hiker , it would have been a cool interview. Love you video’s.
Marie so glad you enjoyed almost everything.... seeing not so lucky animals on the Roads is heart breaking but hey that's how the Circle of Life Rolls (joke not intended)
Totally awesome video Marie. I’ve never been to Harpers Ferry, but think I’ll be going next year after seeing this. What beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing your trip and experience with us. 🙂
My goodness, Marie, that was such a relaxing and enjoyable day we got to spend with you, as you explored so many things!! I loved you sharing what was happening during your stay before you got into your day's experiences 😊. I love your Adidas jacket and your beautiful new tennis shoes you got too. (P.S. I tend to have some skin problems when I travel, maybe due to stress or different conditions - I don't know?). It was nice to know you were not sick like you thought you might get with different foods ("paying attention to what you eat" - "No I'm NOT lol" 😉😂), and that you were able to sleep well. It is cool that you were able to stay with friends and not only observe, but actually live their American lives with them 🤗(now shower in am and not pm!) Your pretty morning country road and the lovely river mixed well with your beautiful weather too - YAY! That was one loooooong train Marie - on my!! Harper's Ferry National Historical Park is amazing. They raise some of their support from parking fees 🤣! The town was pretty, in the hills, and had many old structures still standing. The new purple bag from your newly met supporter was lovely. You got some interesting scenery, like the Fancy Goods Store and Bookshop, Shenandoah Street 1880 in Jefferson County, The 1857 Hall's Islands, those Butter Beans, the fabulous 1864 Milling Machine (that was the year I think I was born) 🤣😂!! There were so many firsts and largest, like the American Railroad, the largest federal troop surrender, and the integrated schools . . . so cool!! I lovef seeing the beautiful old buildings and furniture, and also the interesting medical remedies like Olive Tar 😀. The "Dry Goods Store" reminded me of my hometown El Paso Popular Dry Goods Store when I was a kid. So many nice displays everywhere too (Civil War, that 1872 railroad track, and the painting of George Washington! There were old archaeological finds in the building we saw. That was a very appetizing Bakery, including Maple Apple Pie and Banana Nutbread. "Education is important but COFFEE is importanter" 😂😂(also "Espresso Yourself" lol). What a HUGE burger, I would have had to resort to the knife as well, but it sure did look good, along with the Mayonnaise for the fries 😋😋. That skeleton fence was unique, and they had so many Halloween things, like a gravestone "Here Lies Good Old Fred. A Great Big Rock Fell on His Head" 😁. The town was so lovely Marie (the B & B was cool), with the stone buildings, the bridges, the peaceful river , and that tunnel into the mountain. I agree, patching the bridge with that wood was a little strange. But what an amazing hike on the longest footpath in the world, the Appalachain Trail (2189.9 miles = 3524.3 kilometers, from Maine all the way south to Georgia 😮😮😊), with the cute tree-climbing black snake, all those animal paw and hoof prints (loved "Watch My Back") !! 🤗 That wreck and the deer was hard for you to see - so sad, but those happen so often in the wilderness roads. The path was not crowded AT ALL, lovely! I am like you, loving observing life like you were enjoying so much 💓. Wow, that massive Chesapeake Bass Pro Shop was loaded with everything, and so many animals (deer, bighorn sheep, bears, mooses, fish, buffalo) and tracks on the flooring, with all kinds of outdoor gear! I can't wait to see what the Very Special Place is, but in the meantime, I so greatly enjoyed your marvelous, relaxing, outdoor and indoor exploration of probably America's oldest national park ❣❣ Thank you so much Marie, as always!!! I hope you are taking good care and having good times and feeling better with each day 💕🙏🥰‼ ua-cam.com/users/sgaming/emoji/7ff574f2/emoji_u203c.png
So cool that you got to Harper's Ferry! Those 'living museum towns' are cool! I've been to a few, and it's always a treat for me (being a bit of a 'history buff')! I guess you didn't get to Gettysburg, PA, unfortunately. I've been there a couple times ... it's fascinating! The 'High-Water Mark' of the Confederacy. The tours there are fascinating! Were you on a tour in Harper's Ferry? I think I'll try to visit there next June; I'm sure I'll enjoy it like you did! I always wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail, back when I didn't have medical problems! Did you end up seeing any animals? The way to do it is to just find a good place to sit ... and (quietly!) wait. It might take 15 or 20 minutes, but I can assure you ... the animals will show up! If you sit very still and quiet, they might even come up to you! Doing it that way, I've had deer come within 10-ft. (3-m.) of me! At that distance, when they're up-wind of you, you can actually smell their scent! *So very awesome!* Looking forward to seeing your visit to Niagara Falls - my 'neck of the woods', so to speak! In fact, I was there only about 2 months ago. I'm pretty sure you're going to love it! BTW, were there problems with your U.S.A. Episodes #4 & #6? They never showed up on my list.😭 I hope I can find/get them! P.S. - the acne thing? Keep some 'alcohol prep pads' with you, and wipe your face every few hours. It'll dry your skin a bit, but that helps get rid of the acne, after a couple days. Back home, you'll be back to not-so-greasy foods, so ... oh, right ... you're already back home.(🙄What a dummy!)
Mustangs - zero, motorcycles - one, Snake - one. Great vid, Marie. Your videography is very good. One of these days, you will get a drone and really up the content ❤👍🎬
Bonjour sweet Marie, please come back to the states so you can see more of our beautiful country, and make more great videos. I think I've become addicted to them😄 Harper's Ferry has so much history. John Brown's raid, and other events, led up the Civil War. The raid was put down by US forces commanded by Robert E. Lee, who would later switch sides and become the leader of the Confederate army.
@Phillip Banes Here's a thought; why don't you lighten up? You obviously knew what I meant. Of all the things to nit pick about.....good grief, get a life.
@Phillip Banes I'm not upset, but obviously you are to go on and on about such a trivial, stupid matter. I actually find it amusing that you've taken issue with this. Are you really that easily offended by nothing? Give me your address; I'll send you a backbone. (Don't get upset, it's just a joke) The UK is never referred to as "the kingdoms", but the US is commonly called "the states". There is nothing to correct you nitwit, it's just a different way to refer to the US, that is commonly known. How old are you? Have you never heard the US referred to as "the states"? Why don't you just enjoy the video, instead of blathering on about nothing?
Great video as always Marie. (Except for the snake) lol! You love mountains, so I knew you would love West Virginia. If you all ever make it to Bedford County Pennsylvania within the next year or so, before I move to Bordeaux, France with my fiance, look me up. You have my contact information. May God and His love and peace be with you all, Marie. Bill
I feel compelled to point out that most people who hit deer and raccoons aren't being careless. The darned things run out in front of the car, giving no time for the drivers to stop. I've hit 3 raccoons in 25 years. The last one made it to the side of the road, looked at my lights and ran back in front of the car. Most times, you just can't miss them. 🦝
I grew up near Harper’s Ferry; happy to see it get some love! Maryland Heights is one of my favorite hikes. To see animals you have to be out early. Fun too watch this.
I love Harpers ferry. I grew up in Charles Town just outside of it and we would regularly visit. During the summers we would play in the rivers surrounding town. I've been there for a few weddings.
It's refreshing to experience these things through the eyes of someone who appreciates them. I've been in places like Bass Pro Shops and Harper's Ferry dozens of times, but it is easy to take things for granted. Thank you for the fresh perspective.
I enjoy your videos and was amused at your reactions. Your avatar at the beginning of your videos is very cute. Some people would have been alarmed at a snake climbing a tree but you showed interest by watching it. I look forward to your next video.
What is kinda amazing about America is that our states are about the same size as each country in Europe. So it is like the main land of America is 48 states which be like Europe being 48 countries just don't need a passport to travel to all of the states.
I am loving your videos so far. I cannot wait for your next One. If you went to Baltimore I hope you liked seafood as they are known for that. Especially crabs.
I used to watch your music review channel and then you disappeared from my feed. It's wonderful to see you back again, Marie! I hope you get to see enough of America to discover that 99% of its people are actually very nice.

Ca va, Marie! I can't wait to see your visit to Niagara Falls. I grew up about 20 minutes from the Falls and have been there countless times, so I sort of take it for granted. But I love to watch others experience it for the first time!
You learned a lot about Harper’s Ferry. When I go I just go river tubing and drink. Lol. But I’ve hiked that same part of the Appalachian Trail and visited Bass Pro Shops many times.
I'm very surprised they let miss Marie hang out of the airplane like that in the beginning of the videos. Wow I wonder if miss Marie went to every state during her visit? That would take forever. Lol
@@FrenchTasticExplorations If wild animals were smarter they would be called careless, but maybe humans could invent technology to alert humans of possible impacts from wild animals, while not making the situation worse . My great-grandfather was part of that massive capture of Union forces in Harpers Ferry in 1862. At that time, they were still paroling captured POWs, so he was able to go home and, after the required time, he re-enlisted in another regiment and served out the rest of the war. I know what Ohio regt. he was in and roughly where they were (along the Shenandoah River). His unit may have been shelled by the Confederates from Loudoun Heights, where you were hiking. I live in Maryland, so I hike and backpack in that area all the time (I have hiked through Harpers Ferry probably a collective 20 times at this point). A couple of friends of mine hiked the entire Appalachian Trail this past summer, from Georgia to Maine. You are, indeed, seeing how we live in this part of the country
Marie, I really enjoyed this video and am glad you had such a time along with great weather to enjoy the Appalachian Mountains and to also make a new friend while out enjoying nature..:) When I first saw the title of your post I was thinking, "Darn, I wish I had known you were coming to Harpers Ferry" I would have enjoyed coming there to say hello in person..:( Sadly, my "Harpers Ferry" is a similar type town, but many miles east of where you were on the Mississippi River between Iowa and Wisconsin... Take care and keep traveling...:)

Wow, you sure packed a lot of adventures into the time you spent here! This is another great video, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter!
Oh cool~! Medieval Times. What a fun place. :)
You're really getting the true United States experience! That's so very awesome.
Another great video Marie. I am a lifelong fisherman and Bass Pro Shops are one of my favorite places. Can't wait to see your next video.
Marie, your English has gotten so much better than when you first started on UA-cam.
Thanks!
Thank you!! 😊
No matter where you are in the world, how can you not love the color Green.
The weather makes all the difference to enhance the enjoyment of those historic places
Racoons are mostly nocturnal, unless you go out late at night looking for them, you're not likely to see a live one
I miss that weather already. It's below 0 degrees and snowing where I am now. 🥶❄️
It's fun to see all of this through your eyes. You make a great tour guide.
Last place I lived had the Appalachian Trail right behind it. The small part that I went on is extremely peaceful. Just watch out for the bears. Lol
I work at a Bass Pro Shops for one of my jobs…the one you visited is much more aesthetically involved than the one I work in😂
God thats so surreal to me... I like like 45 mins from Harpers Ferry and have been there about a dozen times
Showers in the morning get me up and going. I don’t drink coffee so I gotta shock my system somehow
Ah yes..the Appalachian Trail...so beautiful. Glad you didn't meet any wasps or bears. We do have a lovely country 😊
I had of course, heard of Harper's Ferry in American history, but I had no idea it was so beautiful and interesting!
I am really enjoying your videos of your trip to America. I am also glad that you got to see this part of the country. It is beautiful. You probably know by now but the AT is 3,430 km long. Hiked it many times.
lol!! the Lunch burger part cracked me up haha)) nice editing)
I know someone that has hiked the entire length of the Appalachian Trail starting in Georgia and it took her 6-7 months.
Thanks again.
Sweatshirt, baseball cap, backpack, and white sneakers! You blend in perfectly. Enjoy your trip!
Simply amazing.
I hope you come back soon here Marie.. There is still so much for you to see. Your always welcome here girl. Your a wonderful girl.😉
I hope you are taking good care and having good times and feeling better with each day 💕🙏🥰‼

☺☺ Nice video Marie as always!
*So very awesome!*
Looking forward to seeing your visit to Niagara Falls - my 'neck of the woods', so to speak!
Very good job. Some of those trains crossing the country can be very, very long.
The Appalachian trail is 3,540 km long. Very beautiful. Thanks!
Bonjour sweet Marie, please come back to the states so you can see more of our beautiful country, and make more great videos. I think I've become addicted to them😄
Harper's Ferry has so much history.
(Don't get upset, it's just a joke)
The UK is never referred to as "the kingdoms", but the US is commonly called "the states".
Bill
I love that you went to actual America not just NYC, LA, Chicago or Miami.
Very nice video - I live in Maryland and you make me want to visit Harper’s Ferry
Love your trip videos. Looking forward to your Niagara Falls vid, that's my area, I'm in Buffalo, NY.
Enjoy the snow shoveling (? blowing) ! I lived in Watertown as a kid, so can empathize!😅
Yes, I'm buried under 4 ft, Orchard Park is 6 ft
I loved it Marie!!
I was just there this spring! It's one of my favorite historical tourist locations I've ever seen.
We have a Bass Pro Shop in my town overlooking the lake. I would live there if they would let me! Lol
I'm so happy you got to Harper's Ferry and got to walk the AT. Bass Pro stores are awesome. Can't wait for the next video. Thank you. Stay well.
12:33 oh no, a stink bug. Don't kill it while driving, you don't want that smell in your car
It is good to see that you are not terrified of snakes. Just remember when you visit here that some snakes are aggressive and venomous.
These videos are so cool! West Virginia needs to hire you.
Really enjoying these videos
I used to watch your music review channel and then you disappeared from my feed. It's wonderful to see you back again, Marie! I hope you get to see enough of America to discover that 99% of its people are actually very nice.
¡¡Hola Marie!! Muy buen video y muy bonito lugar
Hello Miss Marie !!! I Am surprised you have not Done A Reaction to Roberts & Austins " Nessum Dorma " from Home Free you might want to catch it if you have not seen it !!! 🌞
Like button Illuminated !!!! 😀
I'm glad to see that you enjoyed yourself in my country. And at the same time, I get to enjoy your adorable smile :-)
I'm very surprised they let miss Marie hang out of the airplane like that in the beginning of the videos. Wow I wonder if miss Marie went to every state during her visit? That would take forever. Lol
I couldn't haha
@@FrenchTasticExplorations If wild animals were smarter they would be called careless, but maybe humans could invent technology to alert humans of possible impacts from wild animals, while not making the situation worse . Posts along side a road with sensors that also pass the message from post to post till the message gets to a automobile so a person knows what is happening ahead.
@@gen1c8rs88 Or possibly use caution. 😊😇
I like how so far you have for the most part avoided the touristy crap.
The plywood on the bridge repair is a form to hold the concrete used to repair the bridge.
On your next USA trip you need to visit the west coast. The pacific crest trail is much more untamed than the Appalachian trail
I love Harpers ferry WV. I used to live just 30 miles up the Potomac from there in Martinsburg WV.
Every European visiting first always goes for the burger and fries! It does satisfy!
That’s awesome
Marie, I really enjoyed this video and am glad you had such a time along with great weather to enjoy the Appalachian Mountains and to also make a new friend while out enjoying nature..:) When I first saw the title of your post I was thinking, "Darn, I wish I had known you were coming to Harpers Ferry" I would have enjoyed coming there to say hello in person..:( Sadly, my "Harpers Ferry" is a similar type town, but many miles east of where you were on the Mississippi River between Iowa and Wisconsin... Take care and keep traveling...:)
Nice video Marie. I'm glad you got to see a nice part of our country.
