The thing about Medieval Times is that it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's pure theatrical entertainment with food.

For a country born out of the rejection of the idea of royalty and nobility, we do have a certain fascination with the whole idea of it with things like this as well as the numerous renaissance fairs that run around the country during the summer months.

I respect and find the British monarchy fascinating, but in terms of governance, as an American, I’d rather see us keep working at forming “a more perfect Union”. I love my country, and democracy is the only form if government I want for it. Having said that, in my opinion, we have plenty of room for improvement, but I don’t think our country is at all unique in that respect.

I went to the one in Dallas, TX with my ex-wife. Spent about an hour at the bar beforehand, so we were good and ready for the meal and show. The place was sold out that night, and it got LOUD and raucous. Absolutely one of the best times I've ever had in my life. The performers, the stunning horses, the atmosphere, just amazing.
We stayed after and drank beers with the knights and talked for about another hour. I still have my crown and the beer mug I bought that night, I would definitely go back again.

Fun fact, the Maryland State Sport is jousting. And for those who remark on how medieval looking the Maryland flag is... well... it is. It's a blending of the two founding family's crests.
The Black and Gold checker pattern is the Crest of the House of Calvert, the Barons of Baltimore. The Red and Silver cross is the Crest of the House of Arundel; Anne Arundel was George Calvert's (the founder of Maryland) 2nd wife after he converted to Catholicism.

A friend of mine worked as a herald trumpeter at a Medieval Times (the one in NJ) and he said the knights train like professional athletes - like a cross between equestrians, swordsmen and WWE wrestlers. Love this place!
In college, a group of us went and when one of my buddies hit on our server (or wench) she responded - in total character - "My lord, I do not believe our classes shall mix!" He said it was the most elegant rejection he had ever gotten.

You should attend the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire next time you're over our way. You walk around the grounds with all sorts of costumed actors singing and acting out activities of that time. They even hired Richie Blackmore from Deep Purple to play renaissance music. The trouble was that Richie like to take naps and you'd find him under trees taking a snooze when he was suppose to be playing music.

Salut Marie, How fare ye' 👸🌸 ⚔️ 🐎
What a Spectacular Show of Gallantry from the Knights & their steeds that lived up to expectations as it went charging along. The Queen looked so splendid , I liked that everybody felt part of a team cheering on there banners, if we were all there together & loud enough he would have won, who wouldn't fight for your fair heart.
The Horses were Beautiful, it's amazing what skills there taught, the lady rider & white stallion in the light was so magical. The Epic climax of jousting & sword clashing was well coordinated & as exciting as any movie I've seen, I also liked that they included a falconer for good measure , it looks like starting out working at medieval times would be a great opportunity to have.
I'm pleased you got to live out a fantasy, imagining being a queen for a day , I don't know what you made of the food😋 , they kept it quite simple,🍗 I was thinking it would be more of a banquet, maybe that's extra cost, there was also great music as always but I couldn't quite tell if it was you or them. Thanks again it's definitely one of your highlights & hope you get to explore more of it at castles over here to & everyone knows now just what to buy for you at Christmas, fantasy/anime figurines.

Boston had a dinner theater called the Medieval Manor that closed in 2015, sadly. It didn't have the pageantry of horses. It was an interactive night filled with music, comedy and interaction between the cast and customers. If you needed to travel the road to Canterberry (go to the bathroom), you had to ask for permission. You got coins to purchase drinks, (one is for wine, two is for beer) our server (oaf) kept telling my sister that. After about the third time telling her he added "I am an oaf, and I know that." It is a shame it didn't continue, just like losing Durgan Park. A quality restaurant that closed in 2019. It was open for nearly 200 years.

The Americas have histories reaching back thousands of years, there were large thriving civilizations in the years associated with "medieval times" in Europe. Europeans conquered the Americas right around the end of medieval times, so naturally we get a very Euro-specific history of the world that practically ignores the histories of other cultures.
(I'm not passing judgement, history is history, cultures are cultures, it is what it is.)

Outside we have plenty of access to detailed information on countless pre-Columbus tribes and cultures in myriad mediums mainly because their descendants are with us now and because lots of Europeans are interested in studying things. There's not really any ignoring. I guess we're supposed to have a restaurant simulating Myan rituals of gutting and decapitating someone and throwing the carcass down the pyramid to be eaten by the masses. It could be called 'Cannibal Times'. Good thing they didn't do the conquering, when you think about it.

Hi Marie!!! I am so sorry I did not see this when you posted it, as I have had so much happening! This was just beautiful, and no wonder this amazing evening was one of your most memorable!! Medieval Times appears to be a wonderful event to behold (It says Dallas, Texas is a stop, so I must go and see it once!). The entrance and lobby areas are exciting with all the statues, souvenirs, figurines (green dress - dragon lady), and that arena shaded in blue was spectacular looking. Your dinner on metal dinnerware looked very appetizing, and I also liked "The Energy" as you described (I could feel the excitement build!). Your knight was fun (black/white/red) and you even got a lovely white flower from him - YAY - 🤗💟💛! The flag-carrying kids were fun, and I loved the Queen's entrance, dismount, and greeting! Those amazing four white stallions put on an amazing synchronized show - what gorgeous animals they are! 😍‼ The falconer and his bird impressed everyone, and the parade of the helmet-wearing jousters (interesting one with antlers on top!) was cool (the horses were stepping together too 🧡. The jousting lances and the queen adorning each with a ribbon were fun to watch as they paraded past her. (Your "Work Mode' focus and concentration is fun to see from a viewer's perspective 😍) The lady and her stallion were indeed ELEGANT, with those cool gaits and stepping the horse can perform - WOW !! The safety net is a relief to see go up, and was that a chocolate eclair you were served???! The combination of fighting displayed by the trained knights was so interesting: Joustin, Ball and Chain, Shield Fighting, Swords both on and off the horses - such an intriguing and spell-binding show 😮👑😇! liked the winner's outfit in blue and with fleur de lis on the cape and that white horse turning right in front of you looked right directly at you at 13:28 of the video 💕! Marie, your camera work in this setting was truly top notch, and I truly thank you for taking us on your most delightful and memorable Medieval Evening - WOW ❗ Sorry again for being late! And I am glad to see the subscribers above 6 K now too 😉! I am looking forward to your next uplifting USA episode, Marie, and I hope you're doing well 🥰🙏😊❤!

I've never been to a Rennaissance Fair, but this looks like it was fun. Hope you have another opportunity to see more of the U.S. in the future. Take Care & Best Wishes, Always.

ha! too funny. We were just at this location like two weeks ago, my kids enjoyed it. Same host of the day as well, we had the blue knight. I was really thrilled to watch the hawk flying around. The chicken was really good.. my only issue was I couldn't understand what any of the actors were saying half the time but watchign them was enough of the entertainment.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, I used to go to the Medieval Times in Orlando FL, also there was a place called Arabian Nights in the same area. They were kinda similar always had good times at both places, but they closed down Arabian Nights years ago sadly. Stay safe and God bless you 🙏🇺🇸

The first and only time I had gone to Medieval Times was when I was around 13 or 14 and we had been at the beach for about two or three days, I had got sunburned so bad that I had some first and second degree burns, especially on my shoulders. We stopped at this place on the way home and I was in so much pain, especially due to the shirt I was wearing and constantly holding up off my shoulders, I barely enjoyed it. The only thing I can say is, I was probably the least excited person there, but I did give a monotone cheer each time our specific knight was victorious. I don’t intend to go back, but it was definitely an experience. Then I saw the Cable Guy, and that movie changed how I see that place from then on, I wish they’d let people go out there and fight haha, but I’d say that’s a big lawsuit waiting to happen if they tried.

Very well shot and edited. I live here. It’s quite grand. But I always just feel so sad for the beautiful horses. I hear they are kept/trained well, at least here in Maryland which has a rich horse culture, but still I hate seeing beautiful animals being contained for our amusement. But gorgeous video.

You should go to a "Renaissance Faire" you would like the "Knights" Jousting. We go to one in Wisc. the hits from the lances are real. The "Knights" wear functional Armor. It is also a "show" but still as real as possible.
