    Great video! It truly shows the tough side of piggy pairing. I hope they will settle eventually and live together in peace. I feel bad for Bullseye cause he was there first, but it looks like he will have to end up playing second piggy.

    People who are concerned about the piggies being stressed out should watch her " normal bonding behaviours" video. She knows what she is doing and rest assured these piggies are safe. It's better for her to attempt a bond then to have lone piggies ( with the exception of Calvin, but as I said she knows what she is doing and made the right call in regards to her little senior baby). I don't have piggies but I do have bunnies 🐰, and bonding can be very similar. She will know in a few days whether or not this bond is likely to turn out.

      I appreciate that. It is never fun to watch them be stressed but it happens, the quad was the same, lots of scary things going on and now are happy pigs.

    • @skinnypigs1

      Yes, before was just constant chattering and everytime Nanook was near Bullseye she would jump at him. So I cut out a lot of footage where they were just eating or she was laying down. So they are doing a lot better, still not ideal but will keep working at letting them trust.

    Great video, very educational! As someone who has done multiple bondings with guinea pigs and rabbits this is just how bonding goes! Sometimes you get lucky and someone submits easily but you definitely have two very dominant piggies there. Nanook needs Bulls to submit and Bulls won't back off. Sometimes piggies and buns need to go on multiple 'dates' before they can be at peace together and figure out one another. Keep with it and I'm sure that you will have success! :)

    Abby, that was so stressful for me to watch, I can't imagine how it was for you. I bet your heart was beating a mile a minute.
    Nanook is such a beautiful little lady but it's obvious that she isn't going to back down to anyone.
    I really hope that they can work out their difference and become good friends.
    You can see that Bullseye really wants to have a companion.

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  7 років тому +1

      I did cut out a lot of them just eating, so wasn't always terrible but I put in the intense moments to show viewers a tough bonding time. She definitely will not back down one bit, I really hope soon Bullseye understands that he just needs to show her he will listen. They both hangout side by side in their cage (divide of grids). Eat together, sleep near and sniff noses all the time, so they both do like companionship, I just think right now they are locking heads, but it does look like Bullseye will back down, he doesn't want to fight.

      It is normal for the male to be annoying, that passes with time. As long as they are not fighting, all behaviours are normal.

    okay so here is my story. i adopted 2 piggies and one came pregnant..i had no clue. so i was surprised one morning with babies. well the 2 females i adopted are sisters. they got along great. i eventually had to separate my other adult female from her sister and 2 babies because one of the babies was a boy and he was only about 3 1/2 weeks old but wouldn't stop trying to mount the adult female. so i separated her from the herd overnight until i found a home for the male baby. i tried to reunite the 2 sisters and the baby female..well the two sisters started teeth chattering after i started the reintroduction on nuetral geoubd outside the c&c cage. they ended up chasing eachother and fought. i noticed blood and separated the two with a towel i put on top of them. i removed the moma piggy and sge had two deep puncture wounds on her back. so i made another c&c cage and kept her sister away while she healed. i kept trying to reintroduce them every couple days with no luck. litterally teeth chattered immediately and went for eachother..no backing down. food didnt distract them. as soon as they were within eye sight they would lunge for the other. i am not sure what to do to reunite the sisters. i want to combine the two 2x5 cages into one big one but cant get those two to get along. i have recently adopted a very young pig who gets along with the moma and baby and gets along with my single female but the two sisters keep going into attack mode immediately. my single female does pretty well with new baby piggy but is dominabt in cage..lots of chasing and had to add second litter box and more hides because the adult female wouldnt let little piggy in litter box or hides or to get hay. i recently had to separate new piggy from single female due to uri so had to quarantine her and treat her. had a play date today for the single piggy and little piggy and they were so happy pretty much no dominance. going to keep doing play dates outside of cage so my single piggy can have a friend. my ultimate goal is to have all piggies in one big c&c cage.. if only two sisters would just get along. any help would be greatly appreciated

    I have 13 in the herd. I found it worked faster when I put them all together. I think it brings out their herding instincts and it made the bonding more effevtive. They were busy watch inch each other and therefore did not concentrate one one in particular.

    I've had my guinea pigs for about a year now, and I was told that they were both boys. But I'm starting to think that they are not intact males, because I've seen lots of pictures of male guinea pigs backsides, and my boys do not look like other males. I'm sure they're males, because I looked online and learned how to check, and checked myself. How would I know if they are intact or not? I'm a bit confused.

      If you do take them out make sure it is together, maybe in a blanket so they feel secure, with some veggie treats. You can do that daily, just for short periods of time until they get a bit calmer. It does help for them to get used to you.

    • @BudgetBunny
      @BudgetBunny 7 років тому +3

      This is typical behaviour during a bond as they sort out who is going to be the dominant piggy of the group. You will usually have lots of rumbling, chattering, mounting, nipping, lunging and yawning as they establish their pecking order. It is unnerving and isn't always fun but necessary to get through so they can happily live together. :)

    Maybe try putting something he can hide in when she keeps bullying him? Or try putting something of his that has his smell and also putting something of hers with her smell in together with them. Or maybe just putting something of each of their smells in each other's cages that they can investigate and check out when they want

    Was Bullseye scared/unsure of Butterscotch Ripple at first too? I know she was a lot more timid. He seems so petrified, & Nanook just seems to be eating. I don't see her really doing anything mean. Maybe I'm missing something.

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  7 років тому +1

      She is posturing big time, puffing up and trying to get him to listen to her. He is standing his ground a lot, not being submissive and Nanook is a boss. So they both are clashing because both of them do not want to back down. He was not scared of Butters because she was a shy and timid girl, just ran from him for a few days. Nanook is a very head strong lady and Bullseye does not want to give in and knows she will jump him, so that is why he is nervous but he still will not give up.

    • @angiefrank2393
      @angiefrank2393 7 років тому

      skinnypigs1 Are they both wheeking? I thought it was just Bullseye. I'm so confused over the boss thing. I only have one pig, but am looking for a friend for her. I've put it off because in her last home she didn't get along with the others, & that is why the lady was rehoming her. So by him "backing down" does she want him to be quiet, & not rumble?

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  7 років тому

      Bullseye is doing a high pitch talk. She wants him to back down as in when she steps towards him, she wants him to step back. She wants to be able to make him move out of a spot she wants to go, basically just to listen to her and not try and defend his zone. He is standing his ground when she goes up close to him to challenge, he won't move, so that is him saying no, you move. A boss wants the other pig to get out of the way when they say. It all depends on personalities and how you do introductions.

    • @skinnypigs1
      @skinnypigs1  7 років тому +1

      He has only been with Butterscotch before and she was the boss of him, but he was always lingering on the edge of wanting to be. They never got into a fight though. Butters was a much gentler boss, Nanook is not having anyone stand up to her.

    • @tashapage6228
      @tashapage6228 7 років тому

      Well I'm sure that gives you some hope knowing hes worked things out with bossy lady before lol. I was wondering if you've ever worked with bonding 'teenage' boars before? I had two boars (both intact) successfully paired together. My older piggie was 1 1/2 yrs old and I paired him with a 6 week old baby. Everything went perfect and now that the baby pig is 7 months old he started to pick fights. They fought to the point that I separated them (each boy had a small cut on their mouth). My supplies for a much larger cage (4 x 3 or 5 x 2) Is coming in tomorrow and I will be reintroducing them with together. I know about buddy baths and making sure the new area dosen't have any scents. I do have enough grids to have them simply living side by side but my hope is to rebond them do you have tips or tricks?

The adoption agency I get my pigs from I think is called Small angel rescue or something and they spread the pigs out to foster homes and the foster that gets all the skinnys happends to be close to me. She is a skinny God hah, knows everything. She said huinea pigs think they look like their partner.
