Thank you Philipp. I jumped over to your page and watched some of your videos after your kind comments. I'm actually working on doing a spark plug coil pack change video right now (and English version). Your video looked great BTW. I'll make sure to incorporate your suggestion in this next video. If you get a chance to see it when I post it I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks. I have a raft of videos still to publish. But I'll start trying to add in some timelaps clips. I try to be as thorough as possible. This makes for 45min on average videos. I tend to keep the clips short so it's not a 3hour video as I think most people will not tolerate that much. But I will put some more into some of the not yet recorded videos. Thanks for the comments it's always nice to know I helped.
Thanks. I really did try to make a video that can be super helpful and take the myth out of the job.. It's complicated but if you take your time and I believe follow the video it's fun and rewarding.
LOL thanks matt. Audi sent me the recall letting about 3 weeks after I did mine. But to be honest for me the recall didn't really solve the issue. I like that I can now see / maintenance my oil turbo lines. I'll be doing a turbo update at some point and I don't think I'd like the idea of not being able to check the oil filter pre turbo.
@@howididit7196 totally agree with you. If I had the tools, space and knowledge, I may have done it myself too but sadly, I lack all of these. Looking forward to the turbo update 😊
Hello, i am considering buying a car next year. I have to pick between S7 and RS7 because i am interested in both what should i consider as a better choice?
Hello, Great question. It's not straight forward to answer. It's going to depend on your end goals. They both have their own place. If your end goal is power and speed. You can add bolt RS7 parts onto the S7 motor. So right there that starts to level the power playing field. But the better choice is going to depend on what you're looking for. My A8 is faster than most RS7s but I have a tune and bolt ons.
@@howididit7196 This is actually what I wanted to read. My goal isn't 1000whp with stage 4 tunes. I would put bolt ons on S7 and call it a day. And it's more cheaper. I think I'll look for S7 then.
Hi Jbam. Since this isn't a great platform for helping in that manner. . Consider going to Audirevolution.net sign up for the forum and then start a thread there asking for help with this. LOTS of very helpful technical guys there that can help work though the many things it could be. It could be a thousand different things.
hello Friend, i own an audi s6 and i want to do that job to my car. i just have one question. the oil screen that you remove, in the video you install a oil screen blank. where did you get it? Or did you just cut the metal mesh in the center? if no, can you tell me where i can get that blank oil screen? thanks in advance!!
@@howididit7196 thanks a lot, I’ll buy the kit and schedule the job once I got the kit. I’ll use your video to dismount the parts of the car and assembly again. Appreciate your response !!
The front bumper you would to help at the min get the car into service position. Service position is with the front core support still on but pulled back to give you more room. I feel it yields better results to just pull out the core support as it's only about 30 more min or so.
How. Did you get the little plugs off that throttle body? I have a set of black And brown plugs. Black are pinch and pull and the release mechanism is facing towards the ground on the brown ones and i can't seem to figure it out. I don't want to damage them.
If you didn't ready know or do this. You can take the throttle body off with it still plugged in with all the plugs (both) if you do it this way you'll be able to see the connector better and you can even use a pic to push the release tabs if needed.
Hello ,Great video.. I am getting my RS6 in a couple of weeks and this will be the first service I will be performing. I will probably just go for the revised version of the Oil strainer. One question for you. Does the whole front assembly with radiators have to come off or with removing the bumper will their be enough room for removing the intercooler asssembly ? Cheers
Smart move. This clogged screen can really do some damage. As for removing the front assembly. At the very least you're going to want to put he car into service mode. This is where you're pulling the front assembly back slightly. To me, I could have gotten to everything with the car in service mode. But to be honest. If I'm going to be in that area working. It made more sense to spend an extra hour or so to expose the entire work area and be able to not only work with less restriction but that also allows you to inspect other areas. I feel like it's going to end up being the same amount of work time. If you put the car into service mode you'll be spending the same amount of work time by fighting tight spaces as you would if you just removed the entire front end assembly.... But that's just my take on it.
@@howididit7196 appreciate the answer :-) I will see how it goes when starting the job. Your video will be off great help. Thanks again and merry Christmas 🙏🏻

I appreciate this video, there’s so few on UA-cam of this procedure. I gotta say though, those o rings are horrible, and were leaking before you even got in there if you look carefully. Also, did you check your turbo runouts? All of that work only to not check your turbos carefully seems a giant waste.
Thank you for the kind words. I was surprised by the condition of several things. I'll try to get the video of those other things up later. As for the turbos. I did check the shaft play and the turbo best I could and the condition seemed to be fine.
Hello, i just did the job thanks to your video,i have a question i noticed a black bolt on the driver side, maybe the size of a quarter that says open and close, what is that for?
Awesome... So very glad this helped... Give me the time stamp on where you can see this bolt you're referring too and I'll take a look and then reply back
Everything still look good with this relocation kit? I’m actively looking for a 2013 s8 and this is the first thing I am doing. Thanks for the detailed video. Great job!
Yes, I couldn't be happier. The serviceability of the kit has really impressed me. Now every oil change I can get a good view of another spot in the oil system. No issues what so ever. I would not only recommend this kit. I would buy it again and add this to any future 4.0T car I would get in the future. --- Thank you so much for your kind words. It is very much appreciated.
2014 but the procedure is about the same for all 4.0T gen 1 motors. You don't particularly need anything special tool wise. Obviously if you have some specialty tools that you use on other Audis you've worked on they're going to come in handy here. In the video. I do believe I covered what most of the bolt or nut sizes are. But for the most part just your standard 10-18mm sockets Torx 20-35 bits and 6-8 mm allen along with a few pics and screw drivers
Yes I from what I' ve seen in my filters it's obvious to me that filters that can be serviced like the JHM units are a good idea. The removal of the filter just means your going to damage your turbo with oil debris and the revised filters just means your going to have filters that are clogged sooner or later but you won't be able to access the filter like you can with the JHM units.
I do have a video on how to remove the front bumper and yes you'll want to remove the bumper and at the very least put the core support into service mode. I however removed the core support to show a better view of all the work..
Thank you for the kind words. Doing stuff like this video doc wise takes a good amount of time. So it's always great to hear it's helped or at the very least been enjoyable to watch
Thank you. I do appreciate the kind words. I really do try to make the videos helpful. Now with the JHM oil filter screens I've had no issues and no worries. The JHM units have caught debris that would have continued to clog the non serviceable OEM filter units. So not only do they work well but they work I assume as designed. overall I do think the JHM oil line units are a super smart upgrade. I plan at some point to upgrade the turbos. The piece of mind knowing I'm filtering the oil to them is just a good investment in the longevity of everything.
On average depending on your mechanically ability. I'd say this is a weekend project. I was able to do this in less than 6 hours but I'm used to the car and know how to already do many of the needed tasks. IE. take off the front clip, bumper, core support. The other part of the job took the bulk of the time. With the video as a road map it will help take out some of the roadblocks time wise. But I'd say for a first time job with someone not failure. Shoot for 12 to 16 hours due to to complexity. It's totally a DIY it just takes a bit of time. For other things like the removal of the bumper and core support see the other videos I have on that.

Yeah I'll be honest that's not really a thing. Not only that but the fact that these units allow the oil to be filtered help guarantee you'll have better oil flow than when the stock filter get clogged and it 100% gets clogged.
Yeah the entire ordeal was quite intensive. I would however say I don't agree that trapping contamination isn't in your best interests. When you see what you're tapping, it's best to keep in mind it's not just the turbo that is going to have this pass by it, if it was, just trapping the turbo oil that is enough for me to protect my investment.
