Carl saying goodbye to Judith and giving her the hat got me choked up, when he said goodbye to Michonne and Rick sent me over the edge. Definitely going to miss Carl and I’m very curious to see how Rick is going to handle his death

Negan at the end was supposed to be a manifestation of Carl's hopeful vision of peace. Anyway, Carl was one of my favorite characters and though I'll continue to watch, I feel this is such a huge loss and it'll never be entirely right after this.
Don't put away the tissues just yet.....wait until Carol, Maggie and Enid find out about Carl. This episode made the movie "Old Yeller" look like a Seinfeld episode.

The entire situation surrounding Carl’s death is heartbreaking, but Rick’s head dropping when he hears the silencer is one of the saddest moments in The Walking Dead. Absolutely devastating.

This episode has BROKEN me. I truly don't have any words. I'm a big crier. And I have shed MANY TWD tears. I have never cried more during an episode than I did during this one. I'm going to need a few days to recover...I can't imagine burying your own child.

Rick, Morgan, Carol, and Daryl. And Morgan is leaving after this season as well. Maggie was season two, so nearly one of the originals, and it's not looking too good for her to continue into next season either. They done fucked up.

The loss of Carl now changes how the whole story line goes. No longer can they follow his story as it is depicted in the comics. I"m not happy at all how they handle this!
About behind the scenes: Scott Gimple (former executive producer) was on a power trip. We don't have Carl anymore due to his ego. We all know it, that's why Scott was "demoted".
Anyway, this was a roller coaster ride of emotions. Considering the big loss on the show, you both handled it well!

Yes. Scott was "elevated" to Chief Content Officer. However, initial reports claimed it was demotion due to his almost obsession in his previous position. Basically, someone else has his former job that will work on the details (what fans are concerned with). He's now involved in the bigger picture of both Walking and Fear. It all depends on how you look at it. And, quite frankly, it's all a matter of an opinion.

Second, he saved his father and/or Michonne from having to finally end him. In my eyes, what he did was a final act of love towards his father. He had to live his life knowing he'd had to kill his mother and did not want to put that on Rick or Michonne.

I'm glad that The Walking Dead is back and glad to see both of you reacting to it once again. This was a sad episode. For me, it's not so much that I'll miss Carl. He wasn't really one of my favorites. The sad part for me is Rick dealing with the loss of his son. He has spent the entire series devoting his time trying to keep Carl safe. Everything that was left of Rick's world before the apocalypse... his home, his job, his best friend, his wife and now his son are all gone. That is very sad!!

This show needed another reckless child but I think Henry will end up being the one kid who isn't a complete dumby half of the time and is actually engaging to watch. I still don't think he will get anymore real development until season 9. Either way great reaction and great episode I hope the rest of this season is just as great

There are many things that made Carl’s death so insulting one of them was how grimy they did Chandler Riggs They barely gave him any story despite being a main character alive in the comics and a respected major character in the comics (especially during the Negan storyline) and dubbed as The John Connor of The Walking Dead Andrew Lincoln years ago said that if Rick were to be killed off the way he’d want it is for it to be Carl that put him down He can never get that wish of what he felt was best for the character Then by Season 8 they performed a whole character switch as if Season 7 Carl didn’t want All the smoke Like he wasn’t the one who was like y’all got me fucked up and popped off the battle at Alexandria Now don’t get me wrong Carl was also a sympathetic person he was always trying to help people even if it meant going against his father so the Siddiq storyline doesn’t bother me as it’s in character of him But to change him from Mr Knuck If You Buck at the end of Season 7 to We Are The World during Season 8 without any form of transition or development is absolutely ludicrous and absolutely poor storytelling It made no sense And to kill him off the way they did it was disrespectful I get they wanted to do the Anyone can get bit at anytime all it takes is a second shit but it was still trash if you were going to kill don’t give him that basic ass death.
Now onto the controversy of this whole fuckery Now most fans were upset by the killing of Carl Now Chandler was now 18 years old He has just graduated from high school so most fans assumed that he wanted to leave especially since we knew he was headed for college (he was also doing producing music for fun) with the idocity of Carl’s death instead of sending him away for a possible return despite were hurt fans respected Chandlers decision They did a whole big thing on The Talking Dead on his final episode and everything he’s on there talking about him going to college and everything Makes sense He grew up on the show Maybe he wanted his future to be something different Skip to the next day Chandlers pissed off father spills the tea that Chandler didn’t quit he was FIRED Scott Gimple had told Chandler before the new Season that he wanted him for at least 3 more years He agreed to stay on the show chose to attend college in Georgia and even brought a house between the show and and his school so he could be able to do both Scott Gimple knew this and said nothing Chandler had no warning about his death In fact the reason he found out only two episodes before was because Gimple came to the set and told him while they were filming the unknown bite scene and needed him to give off the right expressions for when they showed the flashback reveal So imagine finding out you’re being killed off as you’re filming the scene Imagine after being told you’re being kept made your college decision and noise based on it so you can continue your job only to be fired From my understanding Chandler decided to take a year off before starting college afterwards (I don’t know if he ever went) When fans found out they were pissed Casual viewers probably still don’t know this information So not only did they unnecessarily kill off Carl for (spoilers) it wasn’t even Chandlers decision He wanted to stay on the show planned his whole around it so he was able to do so only to get screwed over A major theory about why was because had now turned 18 and with that and being a main cast member his contract was to be done with a pay increase as he was no longer a minor They simply didn’t want to pay him especially what he deserved so they got rid of him Because they didn’t pay up And honestly you can tell his departure left a mark on not only the show but definitely the actors.

Finally clicked the subscribe button! Rick under the tree....I think that is (yet another) flash forward hinting at things to come at the end of the war, probably the 816 episode. So the injuries we see Rick having will occur sometime between episodes 10 through 16. More than likely closer to the end of the season.

Something weird is going on with this show. The closing scene of this episode Rick is sitting bleeding from the same spot Carl was bitten. Rick also saw that helicopter a few episodes ago and said nothing to anyone. Also nobody else seemed to see it. Could something have happened to Rick and he's dreaming this whole season. The opening scene of this season was old Rick in that dream state. Rick got shot in the gut in the season 7 finale maybe he's all messed up. I don't know. Anyway great reaction I just subbed.
I don't think the show would be that lazy and go "Dallas" (the death and resurrection of Bobby Ewing) on us. I;ve thought that helicopter might be the first sign of the TWD and FtWD link up. ince we've seen copters on "Fear", it may be someone from that show and a possible way for Morgan to show up on that show their next season.

No... Chandler did not choose to leave the show. Stay up to date. He's said it in many interviews. He was actually pretty devastated when they first told him according to his dad.
Negan was there because that's the world that Carl wanted, where everyone gets along and works together. Regarding Rick bleeding... It could be Negan's blood but we won't know for sure probably until the end of the season
Negan will live on in season 9 bc he plays a big part in the next story line witht the whisperes which is a army of mfs who skin walkers and wear their skin to move around easily, they knew that they needed a reason to let negan live without the fans hating them so they kill carl off with his philosophy that there can be a brighter future for everyone instead of just killing them all, so basically carl dies in exchange for negan living

They did not need to add the sound of a kid crying and it did not even match Judith reaching for the hat anyways. They could have had Daryl tell Judith to say "bye,bye" as they leave the tunnel,just a last shot of Judith waving good bye to Carl would have been super powerful.

You know I love how even though Negan has done so many bad things to them Carl still think he can be good an live with them in peace and for all of the Saviors to be happy and live with them in peace as well.
It may have been a stupid horrible decision. But this episode still hits me every time.
The apparent dichotomy of the somber Carl scenes vs the violent Morgan scenes is a misinterpretation. They're more parallel than polar.
We see Carl sharing his message of hope thru his vision, after being "too far gone" in the past, speaking of how Rick "put away his gun" to save him. Henry then crosses over to being Carl in the woods w/ the boy, possibly opening Morgan's eyes before he becomes "too far gone", preventing history from repeating itself.
As for Negan in Carl's vision... it's Carl's vision, nothing more, nothing less. Carl had a different relationship w/ Negan, almost professional, mutual respect. The hope that Rick will work towards peace relys on the hope that Negan will do the same.

Why the hate for Gavin, he is one of the few respectable Saviors out there and he did respect Ezekiel and showed him more courtesy and leniency than most would in those situations, even when things went bad he was level headed and preferred the diplomatic route.

1. This episode was executed perfectly even though I still feel like its shitty that he got killed off/fired. The Judith and Carl scene was the saddest to me.
2. Feel so bad for Rick and Michonne but especially Rick losing his only son.
3. Morgan was the terminator in this episode but it was gross when he tore out that guys intestines.
4. Henry is going to be the little 'future serial killer'. But I am glad he killed Gavin, Gavin irritated me.
5. Good to know that Siddiq used to be a doctor (in his residency), Alexandria could really use one.

Fake Happy There are ways they could work around that though. He could go out to find more people and we only see him a few times. Things could have been filmed closer to where he was going to school, which if I recall correctly, is still in Georgia.
I believe that Carl's vision with Negan and a young girl is not Judith but the future of Judith she have a new daughter. Rick is a grandfather and Negan is the uncle

Great reactions to a great episode. Carl's vision of the future included Negan, but that's never going to happen. Even if Rick came around, Negan would be no more capable of that than the Governor was. I don't know if you watch Talking Dead, but Greg Nicotero said they were going for a Jason Voorhees type vibe in the scene where you were talking about "Terminator Morgan". Can't wait for the next one.

Negan is there because he never dies. Rick ends the war with Negan specially in the comics so that’s what’s gonna happen in the show.
Wrong. He is there because Carl's vision was to have everybody including Negan there. In the comics, Negan is locked in the prison cell for years. Carl has many really awesome conversations with him as well while he's locked up. Even though this was a great send off episode, I still think it was the worst decision they could have ever made. I don't know if I will continue to watch after this season. I'm sure it will no longer be a priority on my Sundays...
