I hope the both of you are ok. Physically and emotionally. It was a tough episode, no matter how many times you watch it's still soo sad 😢😢 Carl saying his goodbyes and telling Rick how much he loves him is omg, Carl/Judith moments were amazing, telling his sister she is strong and she will adapt to the world better than him, giving her Rick's hat is awesome and sad 😥😥 And loved when Carl said to Michonne. "You are my best friend" aww. Morgan going crazy. I guess he has to clear, him killing that savior is still gross and disgusting. And poor Henry I feel bad all he wants revenge on his brother. Him killing Gavin is still shocking.
This episode was tough to watch for me. As I mentioned in another video, I started watching the show way back when it premiered in 2010 when I was 14, so seeing Carl die felt like losing a part of my formative years in a weird way. I agree that him getting bitten the way he did was stupid - in my opinion I would have had him bit defending Judith or something - but his death was beautifully performed and directed, and it definitely has a massive impact on the series going forward (no spoilers of course). As well as that, this episode introduced me to the music of Bright Eyes and Conor Oberst, music that had a profound impact on me - both as a musician myself, and a person - as their music was pivotal to me when I was experiencing extreme mental health issues of which I'm still slowly recovering from, so the episode also had that impact to me. Also, this episode aired on my 22nd birthday so I spent my birthday crying a lot 😂
While it would have been interesting to see it go down with him protecting Judith, the way it ended up was more impactful. Cause Carl sees something no one else does, that future with everyone living and working together. Hell anyone would protect Judith, but to help a stranger, to honor him mom, to honor the strangers mom whom he never met, and to bring everyone to safety like he did in Alexandria, that's something only Carl could do at this point. And like you said , this death is incredibly impactful going forward due to "his vision" of the future and the wisdom he imparted on Rick and Michonne.
@@brownieboi1691 Yes. Carl's death was heroic, just in a different way then we think of the word "heroic". Plus the dialogue with Rick and Michonne and him as he is slowly turning was beautiful.
Carl's vision of the world was truly beautiful and he died trying to make it happen :) I love that last bit with Negan working in the garden and greeting Judith thats such a cool and nice moment :D 18:30 thats the same scene they showed multiple times already since the start of the season :)
Carl is my absolute favorite so I remember watching this episode and breaking down... Love you guys and keep up the great work! Also, moving forward, how do you think everyone will react to his death?
After hearing song at the bottom of everything by bright eyes .I added it to my favourite playlist of strange unique music videos. What great acting by entire TWD. cast & excellent script
Love you guys! Definately a hard episode to watch. Chandler did some amazing work in this one. It was hard for all of the cast to shoot. They were very considerate of the emotion and had minimal crew there while shooting. That's just one more thing to add to the love I have for the show. It's a family. Great reaction! I will try my hardest to catch the live stream. Have a blessed day🥰
I’d had a really bad day the night this episode premiered and no word of a lie watching this episode was the first time I’ve ever ended up blacking out drunk 😂 all the emotions going through my head along with the Vodka didn’t mix well 😂😭 rest in peace Coral x
Father and mother losing their child is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay sadder and tougher to handle more than the other way around....no matter how many times I see the episode I still get devastated...
Hey guys. First, we have a flashforward of Rick sitting in that tree, then we have a vision Rick is having inspired by Carl of a peaceful future. That even includes Negan as part of the family.
Before watching: Oh jeez... Here we go... I'm sure you're not ready cuz I'm not either... 7:54 Pitch Meetings are TIGHT! After watching: Wow everything is so much better in hindsight. These visions and flash-forwards all connect beautifully! I'm surprised y'all didn't shed a single tear... Maybe cuz video quality didn't let me see them or idk. I saw it with my dad and we both related a lot to that final father-son goodbye... An ocean of tears :')
I don't know if you guys remember bit when we first started season 8 i hinted that i really wasnt ready for what you were goimg to see and this was it, it get me everytime 🥺
Exactly!! Having to wait between the episode where Carl revealed he was bit to this episode felt like forever. And there were even petitions with 10's of thousands of signatures sent to AMC and TWD to have Gimple fired and to somehow keep Carl alive and on the show. Everything from coming back the next episode to reveal it was a dream , or to somehow say that Carl unexpectedly showed that he was immune to the bite or to even say that it wasn't actually a walker bite but maybe a bite of some other sorts lol I held out hope too. I just couldn't believe or accept that he would die. So, when he did.....omg I just balled. I kept seeing that little boy that we saw at the very beginning and that he grew up in front of us literally and now he's gone. It broke my heart and hearing Judith cry like she did was it for me .....I was ruined . And after this episode I had a hard time watching for a while. I kept on with it but I was sad for a good while. Still am at times today when I think about Carl and how he should still be here. His death wasn't in vain though. It truly wasn't . Thanks Lacey and Steve for another amazing reaction. I'm sorry this one was so damn tough to watch and deal with. It's a game changer for sure. Y'all please stay safe ❤️
I actually stopped watching TWD way back when season 7 ended. So I just bawled my eyes out watching this episode for the first time alongside you guys 😭😭 Everything in season 8 I've watched with you guys, and this one definitely hit hard. 😓
Steve and Lacey, Carl really was a son to all of us who followed the show. His loss weighed heavy for us. I saw by the look on yall's faces that it hit you that way too. I can't help but think of your own loss, and that was undoubtedly brought to mind. Just want to say I feel that and I'm sorry. Not an easy episode, and all the more true for you guys. Love ya.
There are many things that made Carl’s death so insulting one of them was how grimy they did Chandler Riggs They barely gave him any story despite being a main character alive in the comics and a respected major character in the comics (especially during the Negan storyline) and dubbed as The John Connor of The Walking Dead Andrew Lincoln years ago said that if Rick were to be killed off the way he’d want it is for it to be Carl that put him down He can never get that wish of what he felt was best for the character Then by Season 8 they performed a whole character switch as if Season 7 Carl didn’t want All the smoke Like he wasn’t the one who was like y’all got me fucked up and popped off the battle at Alexandria Now don’t get me wrong Carl was also a sympathetic person he was always trying to help people even if it meant going against his father so the Siddiq storyline doesn’t bother me as it’s in character of him But to change him from Mr Knuck If You Buck at the end of Season 7 to We Are The World during Season 8 without any form of transition or development is absolutely ludicrous and absolutely poor storytelling It made no sense And to kill him off the way they did it was disrespectful I get they wanted to do the Anyone can get bit at anytime all it takes is a second shit but it was still trash if you were going to kill don’t give him that basic ass death. Now onto the controversy of this whole fuckery Now most fans were upset by the killing of Carl Now Chandler was now 18 years old He has just graduated from high school so most fans assumed that he wanted to leave especially since we knew he was headed for college (he was also doing producing music for fun) with the idocity of Carl’s death instead of sending him away for a possible return despite were hurt fans respected Chandlers decision They did a whole big thing on The Talking Dead on his final episode and everything he’s on there talking about him going to college and everything Makes sense He grew up on the show Maybe he wanted his future to be something different Skip to the next day Chandlers pissed off father spills the tea that Chandler didn’t quit he was FIRED Scott Gimple had told Chandler before the new Season that he wanted him for at least 3 more years He agreed to stay on the show chose to attend college in Georgia and even brought a house between the show and and his school so he could be able to do both Scott Gimple knew this and said nothing Chandler had no warning about his death In fact the reason he found out only two episodes before was because Gimple came to the set and told him while they were filming the unknown bite scene and needed him to give off the right expressions for when they showed the flashback reveal So imagine finding out you’re being killed off as you’re filming the scene Imagine after being told you’re being kept made your college decision and noise based on it so you can continue your job only to be fired From my understanding Chandler decided to take a year off before starting college afterwards (I don’t know if he ever went) When fans found out they were pissed Casual viewers probably still don’t know this information So not only did they unnecessarily kill off Carl for (spoilers) it wasn’t even Chandlers decision He wanted to stay on the show planned his whole around it so he was able to do so only to get screwed over A major theory about why was because had now turned 18 and with that and being a main cast member his contract was to be done with a pay increase as he was no longer a minor They simply didn’t want to pay him especially what he deserved so they got rid of him Because they didn’t pay up And honestly you can tell his departure left a mark on not only the show but definitely the actors. Scott Gimple almost go a diss track from my ass because of this fuckery lol.
I watch this with my kid. She loves it and has seen everything I have (Glenn included). She hasn't been able to rewatch this because of Carl's death. This one and another because it's too hard for her, and I'm right there with her.
You know, Negan's man who was responsible for the Kingdom was probably the most understanding and reasonable of them. He gave them plenty of chances before that melon incident and he got pissed at the goon who shot the child so he probably also hated hurting children. Sure, he was "Negan" but he wasn't drunk on power and he didn't enjoy abusing people or looking for an excuse to do so
So way back when you started this journey and were so skeptical about even liking the show, did you even imagine you would become so emotionally invested?
Without comic spoiler of course, anyone that read them get the idea that the future visions were Rick’s, not because of how this episode was edited but because of a confrontation in the books? As cryptic as I can be.
Well, hi guys. Glad you two are doing better......prayers are amazing! Yeah, it was one of TWD's saddest moments. That kid had been with us since he was 10 years old. He supposedly had signed for 3 more seasons and Gimple decided to kill him off and why? It brought nothing positive to the show just totally changed the entire structure of the show....change the blueprint of the comics, change the entire storyline! He's going to be okay I know. He did some episodes on "A Million Little Things" and did a good job on there and hope to see him on other shows in the future! A sad episode, but stick with it. You may catch up because we have no idea about production of Season 11 because it usually would start in a few weeks now.....everything is put on hold due to Covid 19. Love the reactions, be well, be safe!😊
We herein Officially Induct Carl Grimms into the Badass' Hall of Fame! Let us list his badass moments: 1) He delivered his own Sister. 2) He put down his own Mother. 3) He named his own Sister. 4) He stood up to Negan himself. 5) He attempted to kill Negan. 6) He stood up to Negan a 2nd time. 7) He saved a Doctor. 8) He stood up to Negan... Again. 9) He sacrificed himself for the Community. 10) He put himself down. And finally he wrote a Letter to Negan begging for Peace. Rest in Peace you BADASS.
I know killing Carl off seems drastic, but Season 8 sets up Seasons 9 and 10 so well. Without spoiling anything, seasons 9 and 10 have revived the series for some people. They have been excellent!
I wouldn't be able to talk after watching this either -- this was just my 2nd time watching this episode, it was just too much for me to rewatch it until now. It really makes you think of your own family and the people that mean the most to you... then it hits you just how cruel the world is that our beloved characters live in. I can totally get how it feels like if the zombies are chewing you up, then the rest of the world is. But then I think of someone like Carl, who to me just represents pure light, a flame that will continue to burn bright despite his loss -- all you need to do is look at the episode title, that says it all. I find what Siddiq said extremely poignant too, and it sums up things pretty good for me. In this world the characters inhabit, I feel like Carl's bigger message is to hold onto the good inside yourself, don't let the world snuff it out -- because there has to be something after. Glen/Herschel/Dale/Beth/Lori/Sasha and so many others would've loved that 💗
well i heard that hes issue with classes was actually solved and he could continue doing it and he was shocked when he found out that hes char was written off/going to get killed
real reason is obvious, they wanted to replace carl with Judith cause u know Hollywood started to become more and more pandering to online weirdo crowds, at least they didn't crap on the character like they usually like to do

"super easy, barely an inconvenience"
Wow, wow, wow. Pitch Meeting references are Tight!
This episode destroys me EVERY TIME.
RIP Carl Grimes.
Perfect performances all around - from everyone.
See you in the next one. 😊🌺🏝️❤️
RIP Carl! Still can’t believe they did that! Great reaction!
Gimple did him dirty.
It seems we share the same birthday :)
@@Piggeh603 It also gave Carl time to say goodbye to everyone he loves. Rather then dying a brutal and quick death.
@@Piggeh603 Yes and him bringing Siddiq in means the group gained a doctor.
This was the episode I’ve been waiting for y’all to react to since the beginning lol. But you guys definitely handled it better than I expected
Carl is my absolute favorite so I remember watching this episode and breaking down...
Love you guys and keep up the great work!
Also, moving forward, how do you think everyone will react to his death?
Everything I did...I did it for the family...
After hearing song at the bottom of everything by bright eyes .I added it to my favourite playlist of strange unique music videos. What great acting by entire
TWD. cast & excellent script
Same with the song!
RIP Carl...
Have a blessed day🥰
I still think how the series would have been if Carl lived. RIP Carl Grimes
There is no such thing as plot armor in the walking dead!! This episode made me realize that.
I don't know if you guys remember bit when we first started season 8 i hinted that i really wasnt ready for what you were goimg to see and this was it, it get me everytime 🥺
Just made my morning ...I love the walking dead and these reactions...keep em coming please
I think you guys can start to see the beauty in his death now. It's not only realistic, but it's meaningful.
Still can’t Believe they did that!
Yeah. This was a tough one to get thru. I think we were all holding out hope until that shot.
RIP Carol. Amazing send off to him.
You mean Coooral!
Steve and Lacey,
Carl really was a son to all of us who followed the show. His loss weighed heavy for us. I saw by the look on yall's faces that it hit you that way too. I can't help but think of your own loss, and that was undoubtedly brought to mind. Just want to say I feel that and I'm sorry. Not an easy episode, and all the more true for you guys. Love ya.
RIP Carl. This episode never gets easier to watch (it's almost worse watching others react to it).
Each and every time I watch this episode, it is gut wrenching.
Sure, he was "Negan" but he wasn't drunk on power and he didn't enjoy abusing people or looking for an excuse to do so
That was Gavin, and yes I agree. You could tell he was just reluctantly doing his job to survive.
I haven't seen this episode since it aired. Now I remembered why I didn't watch it again. I'm like Lacey. Just tears.
So way back when you started this journey and were so skeptical about even liking the show, did you even imagine you would become so emotionally invested?
I definitely get it. After this episode I was drained emotionally. Couldn't really think. I still cry seeing this episode.
This is the death of the show. Carl being wrongfully killed off was a dumb decision. Without Rick having his son its not the same
Without comic spoiler of course, anyone that read them get the idea that the future visions were Rick’s, not because of how this episode was edited but because of a confrontation in the books? As cryptic as I can be.
Can't think of a man in modern popular fiction that met his end better than Carl
I totally put off watching this again but I braved it & still cried. Still my top 3 most heartbreaking moments is losing Carl 😔
RIP CARL!!!!
Rip Carl grimes
R.I.P Carl😢
Morgan has the most savior kills. Lol
RIP CARL :(
This episode 🥺🥺 I cried like a baby. I thought Carl would be the last man standing. I blame Carole Baskin 😫😫
Lol 🤣😂
i cried back when this aired, i'm crying now. just a broken heap. only TWD can do this to me. he should've lived. big mistake in my eyes, still.
Carol aka look at the flowers & Morgan aka I don't die
R.I.P. Carl
I could imagine this was a tough one for you guys.
Lacey I had the same reaction that u did when Morgan pulled out that guy's guts.
I know killing Carl off seems drastic, but Season 8 sets up Seasons 9 and 10 so well. Without spoiling anything, seasons 9 and 10 have revived the series for some people. They have been excellent!
The shoe sucks without Rick and Carl simple as that they’re is no revival
TheDieHardWWEAddict It doesn’t. Also, I don’t think you know what sucks and doesn’t suck when you have “WWE” in your profile name...
"Youre my best friend Michonne" "youre mine too" 😢😢😢
Everytime I would compose myself during the other action, I would be right back crying with Carl a few moments later. This episode!!
this is the closest I've gotten ever to crying at a piece of film.
I want you guys to do daily reactions to The Walking Dead, it's a good time do it too since were all stuck at home
Glen/Herschel/Dale/Beth/Lori/Sasha and so many others would've loved that 💗
Whats goin on there? lol Thats exactly what I was asking the whole season. Damn! Im still hurt over Carl
Damn it I cried again
Music in this show is underrated
Watching this makes me cry :(
Season 8 is probably the most underrated season of TWD.
Season 8 was the end of ricks story I feel like
To this day I really hate their decision of killing off Carl, but darn it they did a good job with the emotions during that sendoff episode.
Carl's character is still alive in the graphic novel. It was because Chandler Riggs wanted to go to college that he was killed off the show
well i heard that hes issue with classes was actually solved and he could continue doing it and he was shocked when he found out that hes char was written off/going to get killed
real reason is obvious, they wanted to replace carl with Judith cause u know Hollywood started to become more and more pandering to online weirdo crowds, at least they didn't crap on the character like they usually like to do
I cry everytime😔😔💔💔
My eyes are "sweating"! 😞😩
I think I blocked this episode out a little bit. I remember it being a tough episode, but I forgot how tough it really was. I, like so many people, was blindsided by Carl's death.
God damnit making me feel this again...
I miss carl so much.. rip baby..
I see your a fan of Pitch Meetings, that's tight, wow wow wow wow, lol Ryan George is hilarious.
Look I am not going to sit here and lie I have already said how I feel about Carl so you know this was a great episode for me however I understand that you guys and most of the fans are upset about this and you have the right to be just as much as I am to be happy we all like different things live movies, tv shows, books, games and characters and we are all aloud to like and dislike things that others feel otherwise I hope I got my point across if I haven’t that’s fine I some times ramble on
