And 3 guys make this sound..to me they’re honestly the greatest band all time hands down
Each member feels like they're doing the work of two people! 😂❤
There is no equal to Rush. None. Some bands come close but none have the magic that this trio had.
Great Reaction!! Rush brings it every time!! Best band we ever had!! RIP Neil, you are sorely missed!!
Those drum kits he played on, though... ❤
Neil truly was a force of nature
RUSH The greatest rock band that ever was or ever will be.
What is your major league malfunction exactly?
Just no.
Top 5 definitely
For me, it will have to be the almighty Led Zeppelin. Playing blues louder than anyone before.
Rush isn't my favorite band, but I still agree with @Kang2112's statement. Rush, what can't they do?
"All this machinery making modern music can still be openhearted" is one of the best lyrics ever written in rock and roll, imho
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
I can't pretend a stranger is a long-awaited friend.
I have heared that song a thousand times and I still get goosebumps
RUSH WORLDS GREATEST 3 PIECE ORCHESTRA
R.I.P. NEIL PEART YOU ARE MISSED. RUSH ON🤗
Apparently, Charlie Watts stayed on the side of the stage, because he wanted to see Neil Peart play.
This was SARSStock 2003, a benefit concert for the SARS epidemic, amongst many other artists Rush were third from the top of the bill, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, hence paint it black
Yes, that was “Paint it Black” at the start of the song. Not sure if you got the background of this performance from the folks requesting it but this was referred to as “SARSstock”, a benefit concert in July 2003 after the SARS epidemic (COVID is basically SARS 2), headlined by The Stones and with lots of other bands. Rush, obviously, and AC/DC, The Guess Who, Blue Rodeo, etc. It was the biggest concert in Canadian history with between 450,000 and 500,000 in attendance!
Great reaction to the energy and joy of the band!
Right before Rush went onstage, Charlie Watts, the drummer of the Rolling Stones, Introduced himself to Neil and said he was a big fan of Neil's work. you can only imagine how Neil felt when he went out to perform... Wow.
Yes Rush was always like this, having great fun and their Masterful Musicianship 🎼
Like many Rush fans I have seen them many times but not Hundreds like some lifelong fans I have only see them in concert 14 times since 1975' in Boston, NYC, CT and Maine 👍
Thankfully for you and other new fans Rush has many Fantastic "Live" Albums/CDs and DVDs for you to see & hear over their concert years 👍🎶✌
What you're experiencing is likely the three best friends who ever made music. They had the ultimate respect and love for each other and because of that, they ALWAYS had fun! Sadly, we can no longer experience it live, but oh, when we could! Neil would never go up front for a bow, but ran off stage, as they show, while Geddy and Alex said goodbye to the crowd. At the very last show they ever did, he came up front for his final goodbyes ever. There is video of it, he surprised Geddy and Alex by tapping them on the shoulders and all three took a bow together before he zipped off as usual. I seriously have so much fun watching you watch them and reliving my love for them. I'm gonna say it again ... XANADU from Exit Stage Left. Best live performance EVER!
Neil's bow out after the Garden pulls my strings. Best drummer ever!
Saw them live on two occasions. Changed my life both times. ❤
Great reaction! I recommend you react to Xanadu Live from Exit Stage Left 1981. It’s over the top!
I dunno, I mean... everybody suggests that reactors go straight to what may be the greatest live musical performance in human history, but... maybe let her check out a bunch of other stuff first, and leave Xanadu for a special occasion? I mean, it's not like there aren't a couple hundred (literally) more cuts available for her to review from Rush first. :)
She hasn't even done Tom Sawyer yet, ferchrissake!
Best percussionist, best lyricist, best guitarist, best bassist...to ever walk the planet. Plus, they multitask. #TheyDoLaundry 😁
😂😂😂
One of my favorite solos by Lifeson. Absolutely amazing.
There is nothing like a Rush concert. Feel bad for people who didn't get a chance to see them. ❤
And then there's me: I've met Geddy Lee twice. Had a photo taken with him and me. Autographs, etc. But I never got to see Rush live. WT-actual-F???
If they had an accurate map of the world maybe they'd have found Australia and Africa on their numerous "world" tours but alas.... still the greatest band ever that I just had no hope of ever seeing live.
@@bostonwhofan I got NEIL PEARTS autograph,& got to see them live 21 times, Life's was good😁
The average rock band, 5-6 people. Rush- we'll do it with 3. And they have a bigger sound than most! A close second , another Canadian 3 piece- TRIUMPH!!
The Who...
Triumph never got the fame and attention they should have, but those that know, know
Awesome reaction! They certainly do not disappoint. Red Barchetta is an amazing song with a captivating story. Good one to check out.
Having seen Rush preforming live over 35 times. I can tell you the energy and guys having fun is/was very real. I never saw a Rush concert where I felt they were just trying to get through it. Personally I believe they learned from opening for KISS . That the band is there to give the people a performance worthy of the time and money the spent.
Welcome to the RUSH rabbit hole!! Enjoy the journey!!
As a Rush fan(atic) of over 40 years, I think Xanadu Live 1981 would be a good next Rush reaction.
Here is a link to a good quality version:
ua-cam.com/video/1csqdoBsZ_E/v-deo.html
I go around looking for a reactions to the 1981 version of Xanadu (Exit Stage Left), just to watch people get blown away but what just these 3 guys can do live. Plus, it’s Geddy’s absolute prime vocally, which adds so much to the strength of their performance. You won’t be disappointed.
Non-stop energy from RUSH and the "redheadedneibor! 🧨🧨⚡⚡🎉🎉
Usually, when I note that I attended the very concert the reactor is watching, I can expect only one or two to write "me too!"
Given how the crowd size was estimated at 450,000 on that hot and sunny day - frying like eggs on the old tarmac that had formerly served Canadian Forces Base Downsview - I imagine that I won't be the only one mentioning that I was there to see/hear it in person.
PS - Fun fact: our recent, global pandemic was caused by the spread of SARS-COVID-2. This concert was held to boost tourism in Toronto, which had been hit by the deadly (but less transmissible) SARS-COVID-1.
More Rush for sure. I’ve been a Rush fan since 1976. You’re got over 40 years of amazing music to catch up on. Limelight, Freewill and Closer To The Heart are some more tunes to check out.
You are exactly right about the joy in this video! For a future reaction, I suggest the live version of 'Freewill' from the Snakes and Arrows tour. Anything live from Rush is basically mind-blowing!
That was one of the best reactions I've ever seen!!!❤🥰😍 More Rush: Tom Sawyer, Freewill, Limelight, Subdivisions, Red Barchetta, YYZ, 2112, Closer To The Heart, Fly By Night
Don't forget La Villa Strangiato!
Thank you so much!
You're very welcome & you're very lovely!😍🥰😍🥰
@@josbogers the classical intro AND the electric.
@@redheadedneighbor this was so good. i tend to think original studio recordings for the best sound esp for the first spin. not always though.
Your permagrin was epic! I've been a fan since '96 and trust me, every time I saw them in concert, you could tell they were having a blast. I'm glad someone has found the joy their music brings!
Hi Red! Love your reactions!!! Your next Rush reaction should be YYZ Live in Rio. It's my all time favorite live performance. The crowd was massive, and so into the band that they were singing along...to an instrumental 😂
Great! I second this suggestion 👍🏻
For another comedic interlude, be sure to see Dinner With Rush: three longtime friends and bandmates, several bottles of wine, what could possibly happen?
😂😂😂
I second this!!
Yes, please... more Rush. I think you'll be Impressed.
"Paint it Black" yes
Nice hair today! Carry on! Glad you've been having so much fun.
Thank you!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
RUSH IS PURE JOY!!
So glad to see another RUSH sister being born!!
Been hooked on them since 1975!!
🤘🎶💜
You have just experienced The Professor Neal Peart. The greatest drummer of all time. RIP Neal.
I've seen them over 20 times. They always seem to have fun and giving it their all. You should check out Rush in Rio. The crowd of 60+k makes it special as well. To hear a crowd sing to an instrumental ((YYZ) is wild. I say anything from Rush in Rio is fine, but Earthshine, Ghost Rider, One Little Victory, and of course YYZ are awesome!
Enjoyed the reaction 😁
Take care ✌️
High School memories listening to this. One of my favorite Rush songs. Great reaction.
The Garden live! Nuff said!
Yes PLEASE more RUSH 😁❤🇨🇦
FREEWILL Live
SUBDIVISIONS Official Video
LIMELIGHT Live
More Rush!!!
Check out "YYZ" live in Rio. An instrumental...the Rio crowd goes nuts and SINGS along!
Great pick. The crowd at that show was really wound up!
Love your enthusiasm to my favorite band of all time, they are so great in concert it's sad it can never be again, but I spent most of my life waiting for "the next tour" eagerly, from my first show when I was 18 as a birthday present from my parents, to the last 2 tours with my own wife and child in my lat 40s to share an experience I'd gotten to enjoy throughout my life (fell in love with Rush in roughly 3rd grade, when Moving Pictures came out and my older friends (lived in a tiny country town) started playing it and I was hooked immediately.
Love your enthusiasm ...you are definitely going down the Rush rabbit hole and oh what a beautiful journey awaits you 😘
The Tea Party, who performed earlier in the day, also did the "Paint It Black" homage
Hey I made it into the video ! At the 5:56 mark, way in the back, almost at the horizon ! ! ! ❤
You did??!!!!! whoa!!!!!
Your reaction was fricken awesome. I heard this song for the first time four decades ago and I must have listened to it literally 200 times a year since, if not more. And I still get goose bumps, a big charge out of it.
Big Joy is right! And it showed in your reaction. Bravo!
Try “The Trees”, “Closer to the Heart”, “Red Barchetta”. All uplifting.
But really? Don’t sell yourself short. They are worth exploring. I look forward to seeing you’ve Time Stand Still reaction. But I swear, theres just album after album of delight.
Rush is my favorite band of all time. I recognized you from The Warning reactions. (My favorite newer band) Rush are the reason I play music. I could only ever hope to be a fraction of a musician of either of these three. YYZ in Rio is probably one of the most epic moments I've ever witnessed from a concert. Brazil brings energy unlike anyone I've ever witnessed.
Alex plays a PRS guitar here which, are my personal favorite. (I prefer him on Gibson guitars though) I grew up 30 mins from the PRS factory. So I have an obligation to love seeing famous bands playing them haha.(Dany Villarreal plays one often too)
On the topic of the ending, I also feel bad for anyone that had to follow Rush AFTER they played. Though I know AC/DC did well. Somehow I wasn't subscribed. I've since corrected that error.😅Take care!
You don't know how wonderful it is to see a lady of your beauty and glowing love for Rush is to see. I lost it when you jumped around fulling understanding what it takes to make music at this level. The joy in your smile and hearing Rush made my day!
Other noted live Rush, Xanadu Live 1981, YYZ Rio, Working Man Cliveland. There are lots more but those are the most popular.
Living in Michigan, you had the opportunity to see Rush often. I've seen them a half dozen times and the crushed every time!
My favorite band since 1979 (I was 12), so I feel emotionally connected to them. lol. They know how much their fans love them, but they're humble. They must love us too- listen to their music they gave us. There are a lot of great videos out there to show how funny & goofy they are. They truly are icons. I agree with the "Xanadu" suggestions from the Exit Stage Left album.
Here is when they got inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (finally). ua-cam.com/video/_KLuYXT6QMU/v-deo.html
Check out Rush YYZ Live in Rio! ...and The Garden live with the Clockwork Angels tour
I'd say wait for the garden until you are an absolute fan, the emotion is a huge part of it
Been enjoying RUSH since the mid 70's...when Working Man was released ('74). I had all of their albums up to and including Grace Under Pressure ('84) and saw them live a few times. So I'm here to watch you enjoy some RUSH. If you'll take another request...try RUSH - 2112 Side One (the animated story-video): all seven parts. Alex and Geddy, the two on strings, have been together since 1968 at age 15 or so. So yeah, they got some stage chemistry and always appear to be enjoying themselves.
I'm not THAT old but it never ceases to amaze me the surprise classic bands sparks in young people. That's right, RedHead: back then you had to START with big energy. No band, I mean, not a single band from then met succsess by being stale and cold up there, not even darker bands like The Cure. I'm so glad young people appreciate the value of *moving* music.
The absolute JOY you felt from that is why I love listening to music, as well as the the reason I love to play for people. 😍🤩🥁🔥🤘🏽
With 20 something albums, there's a lot to choose from. Tom Sawyer, Freewill, Xanadu, Natural Science, Limelight, the entire saga of 2112, Vital Signs and A Farewell to Kings, are all lofty standards that come to mind easily. But there's so many more epic tracks that these geniuses have manifested over the 45 years they've contributed to the archives of music for our civilization. We are so lucky to have had them!
I'm subscribing to your channel because your energy regarding them is absolutely precious. I feel the same way and it's so reassuring to see people of a younger generation than mine be so moved by these guys. Keep on keeping on! And thank you for sharing your love of this incredible band!
Long live the mighty Rush…! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome reaction as usual!! A suggestion would be "Rush - Natural Science (Live at the Molson Amphitheater 1997) [Remastered in HD] (downloaded by Music Master)
You nailed the rift - Paint it Black. Still hurts to see Neil. All Rush fans will miss him until they too die. He was one amazing guy and prolly the best drummer to ever sit behind a kit. RUSH live is beyond words. Check out BRAVADO from Clockwork Angles Tour. To me it's one of their very best.
Even though you have now seen and heard Spirit of Radio live. I'd recommend the Rush animated video version of this song. I believe that it was released in 2020. It's done to the studio version (from 1980) so it can be viewed as a comparison to this one. You really can't go wrong with either version. The vibe of that concert performance was special.
Great reaction, Red! Glad to hear that you and Rush have buried the hatchet 😄.
Aside from so many band's I've seen live, I've thirty-two ticket stubs from Rush's tours and thirty-two most memorable concert experiences.
Ok, this one is MASSIVE. One of their most famous live performances. It’s the song YYZ from RUSH in RIO. They had never toured South America and those hardcore Rock fans had been literally waiting their whole lives to see the band they thought they might never see in their country. It’s bananas and they impressed the band! It’s truly very cool for us lifelong fans to see because we can really relate to the live concert experience. RUSH Night was always very special. I grew up with them from the beginning and they played my city on almost every single tour. That’s how I got to see them live on 18 different tours over the decades. I case you’re wondering, San Antonio, TEXAS a day one RUSH stronghold that the band loved. They said it many times that they liked the city and not just the fans. We were one of the very first places in North America to play them on the radio in the beginning and the band never forgot that day one loyalty. It was a SCENE!
I’ve got stories for days. 😆👍
Like I’ve said before, Rush and The Warning!!!
For energy, YYZ in Rio is great. There's no way to really go wrong with Rush. And, yes, they always have fun
My wife has a similar relationship with Rush. Except that she's not really a "music" person. I listened to Rush long before I met her and she put up with it while we were dating and then after we married. Now, she does love going to movies and also likes the biographies, documentaries, etc. So, I convinced her to come with me to see "Beyond the Lighted Stage". And as prep for that, she had to listen to a mix CD I made her. She ultimately came to really like La Villa Strangiato and like Tom Sawyer, YYZ and this song. Then she agreed to come to a Time Machine tour show in San Antonio...And after that she pretty much had her fill of Rush. Was nice while it lasted!
RHN! So glad you were delighted with the SARS concert-version of Spirit of Radio! Excellent tune! Hey, I heard you commenting on how much fun they are having on stage and how much chemistry they have together. It's reminding me that I recommended a live video of Rush, from 1981, which will make you laugh and gawk at how incredible -- and funny -- they are! Please remember to do the live medley of "By Tor and the Snow Dog/In The End/In The Mood/Grande Finale"! They have so much fun doing that song and they goof around and try to crack the audience up! You will love it! Check it out, sweet lady!
Neil Peart is probably the best drummer that ever lived along with John Bonham.
I've seen them both play and they were each amazing in their own way. Never got to see Buddy Rich, but I'd put him on the list as well. I saw Yoyoka Soma play last year and I'd say she's well on her way. Pretty amazing when you consider she's now about the same age Neil Peart started playing.
Surely among the best rock drummers. "Best drummer" is of course subjective and varies based on personal preferences, genres, technical abilities, and musical contributions. Music is a diverse and subjective art and different drummers resonate with different audiences for various reasons. Some modern day greats are Aron Mellergårdh, Luis Cole, Larnell Lewis...
Rush were one of the best rock trios ever. Every video I've seen does look like they're having a good time. Your reaction was also joyful, great to watch.
A tangent related to "Paint It Black". My favorite cover of it was done by the Lovell sisters of Larkin Poe. It's just the 2 of them sitting in a bedroom and performing it into a cell phone, but they absolutely smash it. If you aren't familiar with Larkin Poe, they are a roots rock band comprised of Rebecca and Megan Lovell, and add a bass and drums when playing live. They are unsigned (they are on their own Tricky Woo Record label), but it hasn't kept them from opening for Bob Seger, Queen, ZZ Top, etc..., performing and recording with Steven Tyler, T None Burnett, Elvis Costello, Melissa Ethridge, etc... They won a Grammy last year for their album "Blood Harmony". And they also are an absolute joy in concert. They make everyone feel at home and welcome. If you want to check them out, anything from their UA-cam cover channel is great, any of them. Of there originals, "Blood Harmony", "Self-Made Man", or their most often reacted to tune "Mad As a Hatter". Of the latter, the version at The Convent Club is the usual one to react to, but I prefer the one with the chamber orchestra Nu Deco Ensemble.
After the grind of Hemispheres that tested the bands musical limits, Permanent Waves was how they chose to relax. Spirit Of Radio is Rush throttling it back. 😊
2112 was my first rush album when it came out
I drum along with this video every few nights :) They are soo much fun.. been a fan for bout 40 years now..
P.S. i only got to see then live twice, i wish it had been 100 times... you will never see sadness or a fight at a Rush show.. we are family.
Joyful. The song and your reaction.
Thanks you so much for yo I r shining smile
How are you, my friend?
Thank you!

beautiful reaction
Alex is so overlooked as a guitarist.
This actually came up for me in my search for Aurora reactions, but I love Rush too, and this is one of my favorite songs by them. Not sure I have a favorite version, but the music video is crazy good, as is the version they did for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, when they were inducted. (This is also a great version too, of course.)
But speaking of Aurora, you should check out her newest song, "A Soul with No King - Remix" - a precursor to her new album out on June 7th!
One of the greatest power trios of all time!!! At their roots, Rush was a Progressive Hard Rock band that hit in all the right areas.
Open mind - insert music - have a blast!
The Rolling Stones lent their big show expertise to help with this festival and were one of the headliners. Charlie Watt introduced himself to Neil just before Rush went on stage and was watching from backstage, along with members of AC/DC and a few other Rush fans. The organizers issued 480,000 tickets but no one is actually certain how many people showed up at the old Downsview Airport that day. In my office, 12 of the 30 employees drove down from Ottawa to Toronto for the day, which was a Wednesday, and didn't get back home until between 3 and 4 am. Only one of them showed up at work on Thursday, because she had to make a presentation that afternoon.
Great reaction to a great band from a great reactor that's called a TRIFECTA #reaction #rush #rushreaction #geddylee #alexlifeson #nealpeart #tomsawyer #redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulcountrygirl AND A NEW ONE #redheadedrushhead ❤❤❤💘💘
Yes, more Rush please.... 2112 animated version.... Long, but so worth it!
Alex was really rocking out that solo! Great fun!
Yes these guys always had that much fun on stage.
Next song
Xanadu from Exit Stage Left
YYZ live in Rio
First time I've seen one of your videos and nothing in the world makes me happier than sharing the joy of Rush. You just gave me the biggest smile I've had in quite some time. Been a fan for 40+ years and was lucky enough to see them 20+ times in concert. My 30 seconds of meeting Geddy and thanking him for the music during his Big Book of Bass signing tour was a moment I had looked forward to since I was a kid. Be sure to watch them perform YYZ live in Rio. You'll never see another audience actually singing along to an instrumental song.
Blessed to have seen these guys over 10 times live and yeah, that energy... so contagious... always a great time at a Rush show!
RIP Neil !!! You and the Band are TRULY MISSED,,,MANY MANY THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rush simply does amazing things!
I believe what you are seeing, Red, was a benefit concert in Toronto called SARSStock form July 2003. It was a GREAT day, great music, Charlie Watt's jaw on the ground, metaphorically, watching Neil and the band perform. Yes Neil Peart, you are sorely missed!
Rush YYZ in Rio . Fans never stop
Alex doin it, Rush, the biggest part of my music life. No wonder you loved it redheadedneighbor, they are it. Thankyou for your love of great music.
Congratulatios, I undertand your joy and happiness, I'm a Rush fan since 1981, from Brasil. Hughs!!!
Wow, watching you literally bounce up and down with excitement! Wonderful: you are just like me.....only not an old man 🤣.
Everything you said was spot on: the skill, the precision, the friendship, the fun. Just cannot be beaten.
It IS special! It's KINDA like going to a GOSPEL church ⛪️
When I would go see them in the past sometimes I would be laughing and crying at the same time. AMAZING 3 PIECE BAND !!!😮😅😂😊
Yeah... and when is it ever a good time to throw in a load of laundry!!!!
That line about words written on the studio walls is undoubtedly a nod to Simon and Garfunkel's Sound of Silence lyric. These guys are masterful!! And yes - - performed with energy for days!!
The reason they played "Paint it Black" was because the Rolling Stones were the main attraction at that concert.
turn it up
Thanks!
React to RUSH'S Documentary - Beyond the Lighted Stage 😮😮😮
I'm so glad you're reacting to them. A band that had barely any radio time except for a couple of songs, but sold out almost everywhere in the world, be it 15 thousand or 80 thousand AND has been nominated a few times in their career but has never won a Grammy! GRRR!🤬 But my heart and soul will always be theirs!🌹
It's a question of your honesty, YOUR HONESTY!
Love that you are into Rush :) - a great band with a unique sound .
You are going to find a LOT of cool RUSH videos. The number 2112 is important for your future. 😁👍
