Of course watching something for the second time will probably feel different, whether it's more of a "negative" feeling (not the same feeling or a not as good feeling you got when you watched it the first time) or a "positive" one (a better feeling or the same feeling). When I watched Death Note for the second time it felt like I got it more, like I noticed things that I didnt before. This makes sense because the first time I watched it I was much younger. I felt the same! I think it is more because the show makes it so that you don't know what will happen. They make it clear that they won't hesitate to kill of any character, including Light as despite him being the protagonist, they make L also a loved antagonist. They have a lot of suspense that keeps you in your toes, but you already know what will happen the second time around, so that feeling goes away ;-;

I think you captured the meaning of the song really well. Thank you so much! Btw... If you make the Death Note opening song I'll be here, again. Of course, I checked out a lot of your work here, and it's pretty impressive.
Death Note is such a beautiful series that's truly all about perspective. I am just gonna vent out my thoughts here. Spoilers Even though I think what Light was doing was wrong, seeing how passionate he was about it, how he was willing to sacrifice his "mind and soul" because he believed becoming Kira was the right thing to do. Seeing that kind of motivation is kind of inspiring. Although he may have lost in the end, he still won. He managed to convince the world that what he was doing was right. He made them believe in him. As long as there are people out there that believe he was right, Light Yagami's soul will never perish. And that's how he won, by changing the world. He still managed to reduce crime and become a god that many still believe in. In a quote by Soichiro Yagami (Light's father), I noticed a hint of foretelling that allowed me to think deeper on the subject. I think hearing this quote and what I have to say about it will change your perspective on Light and on the Death Note. The quote goes as follows, "The real evil is the power to kill people. Someone who finds himself with that power is cursed. No matter how you use it, anything obtained by killing people can never bring true happiness." While the whole quote struck a chord with me, it was the first 2 lines that brought about this critical thinking. I'll get to the point now. When Light relinquishes the Death Note and loses all memories of being Kira, he is fully dedicated to the police task force and finding Kira. Although this may be because he was suspected for being Kira so, he not only wants to clear his name but figure out if Kira was controlling him and how. Regardless, I believe that in that time, Light was actually dedicated to finding the Death Note and believed Kira was evil. That shows that it might actually be "the power to kill" that's "the real evil". Not only did it give Light the opportunity, means, and motivation (“This world is rotten and those who are making it rot deserve to die. Someone has to do it, so why not me? ...the world can’t go on like this. I wonder, what if someone else had picked up this notebook? Is there anyone out there other than me who’d be willing to eliminate the vermin from the world? If I don’t do it, then who will? ...I’m the only one who can. I’ll do it. Using the death note, I’ll change the world.” - Light Yagami), but from what happened when he lost his memories, we can assume that it was the Death Note that made him like this. The moral pressure he felt from having it pushed him over the edge. If Light wasn't the one that had picked up the Death Note, he never would have become like this. Getting the Death Note, made he believe that this was the right thing to do. This song really tells it all, so next time you are vibing to this song, think about what Light thought when he got the Death Note and relate that back to this song, to this comment.
Wow, you kinda answered the reason why I struggled reconciling the fact that Light was both Evil and Good in my head... I agree with him to a massive extent and I hated that he 'lost'. Hell, I hated that the one who defeated him wasn't L but his damn successor even if Light described Near/Mello as if he was still fighting L but no... I hated the ending because it just felt so... Unsatisfying? It wasn't fun that everything Light did seemed wasted, crime shot right back up after he died. Still, I can see that there isn't a True Light Yagami, just Light who either had the pressures of having the power to fix a broken world and Light who didn't have that power and was 'clueless' or 'innocent'. At least I hope I understood what you're trying to say. Either way, you thought about this anime more than I have.
This is true, the original Light Yagami was not the villain. But at some point in the story he had lost all his original moral values and his sanity and identity had completely morphed and twisted into Kira, leaving no trace of Light Yagami. His real and original self may not have been evil, but he truly had no real morals left to live for when he died.
There was once a dream I had that no one seemed to share, So I threw away trivial things and left them there, These feelings I've kept in my heart, will never be revealed to you.

@@thecabbageman1 this song is all from lights point of view. This two lines also represent what light thinks about his responsibility. And L didn't toss his own life away. He was a rich guy. He could've just enjoyed his life. But he literally sacrificed his life to solve the kira case.He died a heroic death. And its true light died somewhere all alone. But he wasn't alone actually. Lots of people around the world were his supporter and he was considered as a symbol of justice. So, he fulfilled what he considered as his responsibility in this two line
When I'm turned off I study human emotions, their behaviors, and their impulses. I obey like a loyal servant only to kill the king "metaphorically". @@SonicRoarinWaters No, you don't understand. Death Note wants you to choose the Protagonist and the Hero. You can think Light is the Hero or the Protagonist. But you can say the same for L and the others. Are they really on the right? Letting those criminals alive just so they can make the same mistakes again and again and again? They are fighting both for Justice, the Justive of their own perspective. Who decides what is right and wrong?

It was the potato chip fault all along. If he didn't eat the potato chip he wouldn't have gone insane.
thousand likes will be less for this cover.what a talented singer she is!!!
Agreed
Agreed.
I love how the lyrics are so close to the original japanese version!! Well done!!
lobodeobsidiana I was really surprised too. I wish it was a bit faster though.
some time mi lady to translated a song form japaness into English some time word have to be replace
I gave up looking for an English cover for this.... My day has been made! Thank you JayneyCakes for this beautifully done cover!
Ah, Death Note. My favorite anime. lol
The lyrics are really meaningful. Good cover and the voice really relaxing. Honestly, I watched many version of Death Note and I really don't think Raito is wrong :)
It's the best cover I've ever seen! This song is my absolute favorite because of the lyrics, precisely. You did an amazing, precious work with the lyrics in English. I think you captured the meaning of the song really well.
Thank you so much!
Btw... If you make the Death Note opening song I'll be here, again. Of course, I checked out a lot of your work here, and it's pretty impressive.
I FOUND IT AGAIN AFTER 2 YEARS. FINALLY!!!!!
Death Note is such a beautiful series that's truly all about perspective. I am just gonna vent out my thoughts here.
Spoilers
Even though I think what Light was doing was wrong, seeing how passionate he was about it, how he was willing to sacrifice his "mind and soul" because he believed becoming Kira was the right thing to do.
This is amazing. I've been looking for a decent cover and now I have one. Yay! Only question is is how can someone dislike this.
N did
Light was really not a bad guy he just was brave enough to face the dark days before the start of a bright world
This should have been played when the series ended.. The sadness in the piano fits Light's death. Really!
nah im team L, I was just sad cuz the series was over
Alright,it's your opinion.
Matsuda is the best character. Light and L are equal to me.
There was once a dream I had that no one seemed to share,
So I threw away trivial things and left them there,
These feelings I've kept in my heart, will never be revealed to you.
I'm still stuck between reality and the ideal world beyond,
And my feet are bound by shackles, a sacrificial bond,
All this impulse swelling up now can never be suppressed,
My heart's longing is too strong to give in, so I'll never rest ...
"Pretense", "fear", "vanity" and a silly thing like "grief",
Will never affect me, I'm not that weak,
I won't be held captive by loneliness you fear,
See, above all, I'm just a trickster.
Gazing at the buildings up shooting up into the night,
Taking in the stillness of the vast and starry sky,
"Will I be lost just like the rest?" I wonder, somewhere deep inside ...
The entire town overflows with people filled with lust,
I won't let them get to me, and I'm the only one I'll trust,
This road winding, twisting, turning, will lead me to the end,
So I'll reach my hands out wide to accept, whatever comes next ...
Slowly, I close my eyes, and in the sea of consciousness arise,
I can see, everything, and I know when I'll finally claim the future I've made ...
Being blessed with your own life, just to waste it all away,
and dying somewhere all alone, are really one in the same.
So I must move forward, taking the true me in my grasp,
I'll obtain "myself", shining like gem, that no one else has!
Facing the simplicity and piercing straight on through,
Will transform the lie into something new,
I want to believe in something, so I'll continue,
it’s just my faith. The absolute truth.
As the flowing waves of time continue without end,
There's a light that glimmers, just for a bit,
Step by step I'll carve these memories into the world,
And I won't ever stop believing ...
Fantastic rendition. This song speaks to a lot of smart people who feel lost in this world. Thanks for making my day a little bit better with this song, the way you express these lyrics makes me feel like I am not alone.
This is my favorite ending song of death note! I can never find an english version and yours is the first one I've come across and it's absolutely flawless! Gonna go check out your other covers!
Why do I love this song so much? I can't stop listening to it.
I used to listen to this amazing cover very often in 2017. I don't know why but I forgot it, and now when I'm listening this song I go back on time ! Nice Video.
DEATH NOTEEEEE AHHHHHHH AM FANGIRLING 😆😆😆😆
Me to and I'm a dude :D
mio makka LOL XD
LittleJayneyCakes See what you do jayney your so good you make boys even fangirl
Igotbored lol
I'M KIRA :'v
(what? ;u; )
I actually was fangirling at the beginning of the song, which should show how much I liked this song in the anime despite that this is my first time hearing Jayn's cover of Alumina. (To be honest, I didn't know that this cover even existed until a few minutes ago after listening to her cover of Misa No Uta.)
im not that week
see above all im just a joestar
*_* OMG this picture of Light♥♥♥
this is amazing. I regret not finding this sooner!
*R.I.P Light*
Taking a potato chip and eating it left him insane
BRO BUT WHY DID THIS ACTUALLY MAKE ME SAD? I feel bad for Light, fight me.
Because his ideals were right to some degree and he was genuine at first.
Damn, you really killed it! I didn't even think the song would work in english, wow. Thanks for this, it's so good!
...I keep coming back to listen to this..it's taking over. I'll be found dead in a corner with headphones on and this song on a loop.
Kidding, but it is great. You sound fantastic.
You deserve more , one of the best covers i've ever seen.
Instant motivation:
Wish me luck for my finals, people. I listen to this whenever I start to feel down
Good luck
X2
One of the best cover I've ever listened to
No words can ever express how deeply I adore these lyrics.
Thank you so much for this amazing masterpiece. this is my favourite song. I am the one who listen to this song so many times, more than anyone else.
What a unique version, definitely never heard one like this before. You've done an amazing rendition Jayney, thank you & keep up the great work!

Farewell , You Bloody Genius ... Light ... !!!!

BellyGame ikr
YAS Death Note is absolutely amazing O-O I think I'm #obsessed ..... LIGHT IS MY SENPAI (Anyway, this was an amazing cover, like always! This song is amazing doe)
Such a deep meaning it has..
this song works so well with your voice love it :D
that song is excellent, what light thought is all in the lyrics
OMG so much nostalgia it's been so long since I've watched death note XD I LOVE this cover. Your voice is beautiful. I watched way over 100 animes but this is the best song from one, no the best song out of EVERY song I've ever heard. To me it's even better than the AOT opening AND the hetalia closing COMBINED. And if you know anime enough... you know that's much wow. 0.0
This Is the most amazing cover I've ever heard!
Light Yagami is the best anime villain
I mean from the point of view you look at it from, he is not necessarily a villain...
he is a hero
@@computer-mo6js he is a anti hero
He s just a human corrupted by power , a good human, we all born good and pure, ego and power corrupts our brain and soul
No me.
C'est un des meilleurs cover de Death Note que j'ai jamais vu BRAVO❤️❤️👏👏
I liked the unique flow you gave to the rhythm; it is a really interesting and moving rendition of Alumina.
The more i think about it i feel like light wants to live a better way but hes doing it worng
As a fan of Death Note, I have to say this is Beautiful!
death note! I'm screaming
This cover is especially good.
For anyone who desires something closer to the original speed, the closest I've found 1.15 (Custom)
Being blessed with your own life just to toss it all away: L
Dying somewhere all alone : Light
No,man.you didn't understand the meaning
@@aduts1177 what didn't I understand?
@@thecabbageman1 this song is all from lights point of view. This two lines also represent what light thinks about his responsibility. And L didn't toss his own life away. He was a rich guy. He could've just enjoyed his life. But he literally sacrificed his life to solve the kira case.He died a heroic death. And its true light died somewhere all alone. But he wasn't alone actually. Lots of people around the world were his supporter and he was considered as a symbol of justice. So, he fulfilled what he considered as his responsibility in this two line
@@aduts1177 He had all these riches but he got obsessed with kira, that's wasting your life away
@@farheenkhan9428 kind of,but actually he Didn't waste his life
When I'm turned off I study human emotions, their behaviors, and their impulses. I obey like a loyal servant only to kill the king "metaphorically". I'm not your friend, I'm not your enemy, everyone is Competition to me. You'll never know when I'm lying because everything I say is my truth. A truth that you fail to understand. There's nothing you can do or say to hurt me because I don't feel pain behind the scenes. I only feel motivation to stave off.
I sing this to my kid for a night song. He will grow up and find out that her song is really an anime opening. ( it will also explain her name, Kira O'Donnell
XD, That's awesome dude!
It rather is. What's more amusing? My real name is Chara O'Donnell
Seriously? That's awesome!
Kira actually means Killer, you just named your child Murderer
Santos Astronaut Holy shit....i forgot that it's meaning was killer in japanese....
I have to say, I'm surprised. No disrespect intended to you, but I didn't think this would be a song you could pull off. But you made it your own, and did a phenomenal job in the process. I'm glad my friend showed me a few of your Tokyo Ghoul covers.
Light Yagami is the hero we need but not the one we deserve.
R.I.P!
kira is alive and he will rise again
He is the PROTAGONIST NOT THE HERO in fact he's more of a VILLAIN L and Near are actually the heroes of the story despite being the antagonists light is not a good person nor will he ever be the term hero refers to a person who STOPS the killing not causes it light was not a good person and I'm tired of people not understanding that death note is a cautionary tale people who gain power are easily corrupted and light is the perfect example
@@hoaxbuster9080 that is why I love Death Note. Moral grey it makes us choese the hero and the villian.
His life was already ruined when he touched the death note .
SO AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU!
This is so beautiful. You just get better and better.
My favourite song since 2009
Omg 12 old comment how is your live bruh
its justr.....im speechless...........im obsessed with this anime and now this.....wow...
At whatever speed this sounds heavenly, but 1.25... wow!
SIX MINUTES OF JAYN OMFG *cries*
Such a great cover, love the arrangement and vocals. Keep it up!
With out light the world is a dark place.
w o w The song is really amazing and great, thank you so much for making this. it is really good
You keep on amazing me with every cover!
It's been so long since I first heard this cover. I've heard over about 500 anime English covers by this point, and this one is still the best. Still just as incredible as I heard it the first time. TYERecords' cover of Arrival of Tears from 11Eyes is the only one that comes close, and even then, I'd BARELY take this one over that.
Popping in here right after listening/watching your "Mega Stronger Then You" cover, I can't help but relate this version to Undertale.
Soundin' wonderful as always, yay! :D
this is the video brought me to your channel, I didn't regret watching this video at all
This it the best cover ive ever heard
Stuck between reality and the ideal world, thats really the paradox that all who want to fix our world find because we we have to s
You did killer on this song💜 I can't even write out my love for it
This song is so underrated.
I love this!
Wish I could like it more than once
Oh my ...I love this song...thank you so much for doing it
Death Note ended on June 26 2007, so I came here to listen to this beautiful cover for the occasion
I can't believe it's been 7yrs since I heard this...
Why does time fly fast? :(
