  • UPDATE: TUDOR REPLACED MY WATCH! See follow up video: • Tudor made things righ...
My experience buying a Tudor from an Authorized Dealer was overall extremely poor. In this video I explain why. Timeline consists of me buying the watch in May 2021, sending it back to Tudor Service Center in July 2021 due to a faulty movement, and finally receiving the watch back from Tudor in January 2022. Upon receiving it back I realized there was superficial damage to the bezel. At this point, I have been without my brand new watch for 6 months and can’t stomach sending it back to Tudor yet again, for possibly some new issue to come up.

Exactly. They had a chance to resolve the situation. If I had been given a brand new watch in perfect condition after maybe 2 months even, I would have been content. But to wait 6 months to get a damaged replacement watch. Unacceptable. Tudor is dead to me.

You already waited months and now you are unhappy with the watch so you should just bring it back again, let them replace the bezel and then sell it. As it is now every time you look look at it it will bring up the bad experience and you will never be happy with it.

Sounds like you have more issues with your AD than the watch itself. Absolutely love my BB58 Blue, and my AD has always been very helpful and receptive to general questions/concerns on my purchases. Sorry to hear how this whole experience has put a sour taste in your mouth for the brand, but know there are some good ADs out there!

    • @EDHBlvd
      @EDHBlvd  2 роки тому +2

No it’s both the AD and Tudor. Tudor’s communication (see their letter) is super vague. Tudor’s service time of 6 months was unacceptable for a brand new watch that was defective out of the get go. The brand lost me as a customer.
The problem with the AD is the lack of interest in keeping as a customer. They could have offered me something out of their own pocket to make it sting less (such as a free strap), but they refused. So they lost me as a customer.

As soon as you said Dallas Service center, I understood; I have read so many posts and watched many videos of people having bad experiences with both Tudor and Rolex when their watch was sent to the Dallas service center. Seems to be a quality control issue out of Dallas. There are two other service centers, one in New York and one in California and I have not seen any posts or videos about problems out of those service centers. That does not mean they don't have problems, it just means that they have far fewer problems so the posts and videos are scarce. I can't speak for others, but my experiences with every brand I've dealt with has been good to exceptional. I think your experience really starts with the AD. If your AD is not willing to step in for you and get your issue resolved to your satisfaction, within reason of course, then you can end up having a hard time dealing with the brand/service center. I am lucky. I have three very good ADs in my region that take customer experience and satisfaction seriously whether you spend $1000 or $100.000 on watches. How do you build customer loyalty? customer experience...

Same watch but totally reviewed and has worked since then (1 year) without problem. The warrantee was extended from the moment of repair, they threw in an extra rubber strap and this was all done in three weeks. What with that and Breitling’s online ownership cert, they’ve really upped their game lately.

DON’T LET THEM OFF THE HOOK! Keep your cool, but contact Tudor and report your experience to someone above the initial customer service rep (a customer service manager, or whatever). Make sure they document it. And I know it sucks, but send that watch back until it is done right. You will never feel good about the watch until they fix that bezel. They probably used the same tool they use on the steel watches and likely scratched the case as well. That would explain the new case.

I've had the 925 since August. Haven't had any movement issues however I have feared this being the experience when a service is in need. Especially looking 20 years down the road. Tudor doesn't seem to be the kind of company to listen to the customers opinion on the repair. Especially with the 925. Most won't want their dials or cases touched because they want this watch to age naturally.
Great video, think this kind of info is really important. Sorry for the issues you've had, especially because it's such a looker. I've been looking into the Breitling Chronomat line for my next watch.

Ya it’s really sad as I was a big defender of Tudor, as I love my North Flag (zero issues in 2 years). I also picked up a Heritage Ranger (with ETA movement), and it’s also been perfect. Unfortunately these 3 Tudors will be all I ever own from the brand. It’s clear from the horrendous service and poor AD experience, that Tudor does not care about their customers.

Tough story to hear. I dented the bezel on my GMT around the time you had this issue. My watch got sent to the Rolex repair center in Dallas right as they were starting to re-route Tudors to Tudor repair center in New Jersey because of parts issues. I had a completely different experience (though it was slow). They did a bang up job fixing it and they performed a complete service. They recalibrated it and it came back running far more accurately than before. I have three Tudors in my collection and I’ve had no issues with quality control or customer service in any way. I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you. I bought mine through a Grey dealer and after the first year the movement completely siezed. I couldn't turn the crown and you could tell it was internallt bound up pretty bad. Luckily I contacted the online grey dealer they and they told me they contacted the AD which was in Italy and that they were going to send me the original warranty card. Again I was lucky because I live in Fort Worth so I set up an appointment with the Corporate Rolex service center in downtown Dallas and I went there and dropped it off. 30 days later I had the watch and the notes stated that the movement received a complete overhaul. My watch was pristine when i dropped it off and I received it in the same condition. I did sell it last month but I'm planning on buying the S&G version.

Very depend on the local AD/service centre. I sent my watch to local Seiko SC for 2 years interval service. Although the movement is adjusted to COSC rate, I've got another bonus - deep scratches on the caseback, lugs & bezel, and torn rubber straps. I think they're using mjolnir as a tool.

I’m feel for you. Its strange how these ‘big’ brands only take action once a person posts a video. Why cant the AD take care of it properly when you went to them the first time around. It seems they just want to gaslight the customer and get away with it. I am considering the Black Bay 54 as my first Tudor, but your experience is making me to seriously reconsider. You know I didn’t remember if I got into it in my video but when I first noticed the watch stopping I called and even went into the AD and they basically blew me off. I bought my new BB58 from an AD about 18 months ago. When I got home the thread on the crown was a little rough when trying to wind it in or out. Also the bezel had a tight spot about half way round it's travel. It was returned to Tudor via the AD. It came back with the crown thread repaired but the bezel hadn't been repaired. Returned again and when I got it back the bezel had been repaired but the case had been scratched. All this took almost a year. I returned it and requested a refund as clearly the watch was defective from the start. Just before Christmas I was contacted by the dealer who said Tudor had offered to repair the watch again but I refused. To cut a long story short I did eventually get a refund from the AD who was fantastic throughout the experience. He then made a claim from Tudor. Never again would I buy a Tudor.

Years ago I bought an Omega Speed master which ran fine till I started the chronograph whereupon it would stop after 5 minutes. I took it back to the dealer who asked me to leave it with them for the day. I got a call from them the next day to say that there is a problem with the watch and it needed to be returned to Omega as faulty. Just as my heart was sinking he said he'd ordered another identical watch in from one of their other branches as a replacement for me, which should be with them in a couple of days. I must have gone through 25-30 automatic watches and the only time I had this sort of problem was with a cheap Invicta (I gave it to a friend who has a relative who is a trained watchmaker, so eventually I might find out what the problem was, but I don't really care given the price point). An automatic watch that new which stops... that spells out "t-r-o-u-b-l-e" in watch-a-nese. To add insult to injury, if an AD just tells you to wind the watch more often... well, to put it mildly, it's a big shame on them. My favorite brand right now is Mido, they are quite honestly priced and their quality is way over what you'd expect for the money.

That sucks. My brand new black bay stopped just like this about 5 yrs ago. One of the original in house watches. I didn’t even have the warranty card with me when I bought it. They took my watch and replaced the entire movement, replaced the Crystal since I had already managed to scratch it and polished it before sending it back. I bought a pelagos and the quick set date function stopped. I bought it used with no warranty card and they STILL fixed it and didn’t charge me. I currently have 5 tudors because I love them so much and how they’ve treated me. Decided to start buying from my AD because they’ve been so good. Payed off because they offered me a Sea dweller over Christmas because I’ve bought so many other watches from them. Love my tudors though.

I wouldn't blame Tudor entirely for this, the problem is with the service centers. From what I've seen it's completely different in Europe and in the USA. The issue is the movements in these watches are still pretty new, in-house movements and they indeed have had some issues with them unfortunately and if they can't be sent back to Switzerland for a proper treatment this is what you get. Some service centers are just BAD and it's very hard to control every single one of them...

    • @EDHBlvd
      @EDHBlvd  2 роки тому

I blame Tudor as they shouldn’t have released the watch without adequate parts supply on hand for repairs. I blame Tudor because their poor quality control is allowing many duds out the door. Finally I blame Tudor for having such poor Tudor Authorized Service Centers. If they cared about their brand they would ensure the service centers do top notch work. The result of not doing this, is the very poor experience I went through.

Ohh man, I’m very OCD when it comes to stuff like this, and I would be furious if the watch came back like that, like really the manufacturer basically destroyed the bezel. That would be a thorn in my side if it came back with those defects, let alone like you said on a 4 figure watch. Thank you for the information, Tudor watches definitely never going to go for that brand.

I have been reading the comments here and it is actually not good to see how many people got issues, this should not be happening with a brand like Tudor , specially that is a Rolex brand. I know some says they did not have issues with their watches but you don’t buy a 4000 or 5000 watch worrying about future problems and future disappointments with the service department

I think much of this has to do with the AD or the service center rather than the manufacturer - apart from the movement of course. I've owned a blue steel one and keeps perfect time, and is taking a lot of abuse as a daily beater and apart from the obvious micro scratches it seems bulletproof... Sorry to hear your experience was so bad, but I think it's down to the nature of industrial scale production, especially with precious metals...

I’ve had some similar issues since I’ve started watch collecting, and you’re right, it’s infuriating. It really does crap all over one’s excitement for the hobby, for sure. I will say, that I own the 925 and luckily, I’ve not yet had any issues with it. I’ve also owned a Blue Bay 58 with no issues. But i’ve purchased other luxury watches from AD’s that arrived with cosmetic damage or movement problems, and my experience with seeming like no one gives a shit once you have these issues, is the same as yours. I’m also similar in that I won’t buy from an AD where I’ve had issues, and I won’t buy a watch with the same movement as one that I’ve had problems with in the past. And then I’ll make sure to leave my thoughts about the AD and the watch in reviews online. It’s all part of learning, I guess. And for what it’s worth, I’ve noticed that Tudor has no customer service that I can find on their website, so that’s pretty concerning. Anyway, good luck in your watch collecting journey, man.

Sorry to hear about your experience...... Real crappy on Tudors part.
    A couple of points:
    1. If they changed parts and serial numbers, won't there be a disparity between the serial number on your original Tudor paperwork, and would that not affect future resale?
    2. If they had the watch in their possession for 6 months, that's approximately 10% of the manufacturers warranty used up (assuming a 5 year total warranty). Did they offer to extend the warranty by 6 months, or could you return to the AD and request they honour this?
I'm not sure what the Trading Laws are like where you are at, but fortunately we do have specific laws in the UK that protect consumer purchases.
Hope everything eventually works out for you mate.

      1) the AD said they keep track of the multiple series and suggested I keep the letter from Rolex which shows both serials (the one I showed in video with redactions).

One of the reasons why I bought it from an AD, is that I was scared to buy a luxury watch with an in-house movement via grey market or preowned. I figured the extra few dollars was worth it for the 5-year warranty. Now I am nervous! However, I do put the blame on both the AD and dealer. Dealer should simply go back to Tudor and fight to get you a new watch. Quality control of the repair sounds abysmal. I would also be very upset if I experienced what you experienced. My Seikos have also been great! AD should really step in and simply demand a new bezel for you. I had a very similar experience from Rolex, I bought a new silver/ white OP39 from an AD in NZ. Black dots came out from the pinions and marked the otherwise flawless dial (within 2 months of purchase). I sent it back and the AD initially tried to tell me that it was my fault and I had been wearing it without the crown screwed in (not true I babied it). After several months it was returned with some light scratches on the caseback but a clean dial. There was no paperwork that explained what they did. Within a week new black specks showed up on the dial. It was again sent away for 5 months. Again it came back with black specks on the dial. I sent it in for a third time and when it came back it was fine (though the hands had fine scratches on them). I decided to sell it when someone offered me more than I paid for it. Unfortunately, it was publicly discontinued a few days after I sold it. It is a shame as it otherwise would have been a dream daily. Thanks for sharing your experience with Tudor. I was close to buy one but I don’t think I am interested anymore. I get that some products might fail which is not right considering that still an experience watch , that bothers the most is the service they give, I can Imagine the frustration. I’ll take look at your content since you mention the with cameras 🤩

Yes I agree. I’d the service had been pleasant, such as 6 weeks and gotten my exact watch back with a properly functioning movement, I’d have been happy. Waiting 6 months to get a “new” watch with marred bezel, no thanks. Tudor is dead to me. Lost all trust in the brand after this.

I had the Tudor BB Dark, 925, Bucherer Blue Edition, and the Pelagos LHD. My LHD was an everyday wear. I loved it. I was wanting the FXD MN21 when it came out. I couldn’t even get it. I have buying history at my AD with Rolex as well. I do realize they have other customers. If you can’t get a Tudor of your choice then there is a problem. Sooooo I decided to get rid of ALL my Tudors. That’s what I did. I’m strictly Omega and Rolex now. Get an Omega master chronometer. They are hands down better than any Rolex or Tudor you can buy. They are readily available and you can get a discount.

I own the same 925 and a few other tudors and luckily I’ve had a good experience with all, but I agree with the comment above and agree with you…….I would try an Omega…..very good watches and reliable the SMP 300 professional is a great watch close to the 925 price in multiple options, or a Speedmaster new or used are a great watch will a ton of true heritage and many others I’d check out there website they have a ton of models……because it’s a absolute sham to lose your interest in luxury timepieces since they are such a great and rewarding hobby , don’t let this experience ruin it for you in the future! Your experience and the return of a watch with a damaged part makes me so nervous about sending out any watch for service. Apparent lack of oversight throughout the process is troubling. You can easily observe issues on the outside of the watch. So one can only imagine potential mistakes made on the inside!

I have 3 Tudors . A GMT, a Black bay 58 bronze boutique and a vintage 1980'S oyster date with rolex case and movement. My wife also has a tudor royal date adjust.
No problems at all from here

Yes, I have 4 other Tudors (3 purchased after this situation with the 925). I am a fan of the brand, but this situation was still very poor. Thankfully they ended up replacing the watch and getting my situation resolved. I posted an updated video a while back. Its linked in both description and comments if you are curious. The Black Bay 58 Bronze is my favorite watch in my collection. I picked it up earlier this summer and it is incredible.

Thank you for sharing such a horrible experience. I can see that happened with many AD's when you walk in; they get all over you because they want your money once they make the sell..They don't know you if you have any future problems. Just like a car sell man at a dealership. 🤬😡. Paying $$$$ and receiving mediocre service that's unacceptable 😤. Good luck 👍🏽

Really sorry you had a bad experience with the Tudor, but I don’t think this is an isolated incident, and people have had similar issues with them, and the movements. Some are okay I imagine, but it’s definitely a brand I would avoid. You can get a lovely Fortis Flieger F-39 for less money, with a sellita based moment, that is basically an ETA , that will give you excellent performance and value for money. I’d definitely steer clear of Tudor.

My brother's BB58 had the same problem. The AD sent it in to Tudor and did a movement exchange under warranty and now it's fine. As long as it's under warranty, keep going back if you have to and ask them for a new watch if there is so many problems.

Yeah it can be good or bad. I had experience in Singapore sending in a Tudor and they fixed it up really good and fast because I went directly to Rolex Service Centre. On another occasion, the AD finally got my waitlist and when I went to pick up my black bay 58, there was a huge scratch on the side of the case, and the AD told me I can either take it or leave it. They will probably sell it to the next person who is willing to polish it.

Damn. This is like the 5th story I've seen in the last two months just like this. New watch is defective, sent it to Tudor, "fixed" and sent back a million years later, watch has even more problems, tudor says "awe that sux wanna give it back to me for another million years?"
I've never been a fan of Rolex or Tudor, but I admired and respected what I *thought* they were and what they represent. Now I know that that admiration was misplaced.
Better luck, man. Hopefully this whole thing doesn't throw you off of watch collecting completely because there are do many genuinely great experiences to be had.

I told them I thought it was running slow, they said they would have it back to me Thursday the next week and six months later I got it back. They said it was originally off 4 seconds….. I didn’t think they even sent a watch away for that lol

Well, on the bright side, at least you got the watch back. I sent Rolex my very rare 34mm Explorer (1950's/early 60's), and never saw it again. They apparently lost it in the post! Obviously, they must have sent it via some cowboy courier!

Don't know, but they did offer a replacement. But it was no compensation for the loss of a watch that i now see changing hands for serious $$$ due to it being a limited run, specifically for UK market (in the words of Rolex). Also, I actually had to go collect it from Rolex HQ in Geneva personally. Then, after specifying that the replacement (i think it was Explorer II) had to have the same jubilee strap, the MD gave it to me with an Oyster strap, so i told him to change it, and that took them a few days just to do that. Needless to say i took the watch home and sold it to a friend without even trying it on. Cobblers to Rolex!@@EDHBlvd

Uptick watches had a bad experience with the Black Bay ceramic. My AD said no soup for you when I asked for a Pelagos, and now I'm glad. These Swiss watch companies are incredibly arrogant so I'm not surprised that the young (and even more senior) are wearing Apple and other smart watches; no preferred customer nonsense, no attitude when you have a warranty claim.
