nooz ive learned a lot from you and I know most of the people who watch your video don't subscribe but I just did. and you earned it.. also FYI on the new ar637 and 8 n 10 channel it doesn't affect the flight modes where you can turn safe or the as3x on.. so if you have those receivers they have there own flight modes
Thanks you for your kind words and subbing! 👊 yes sir flightmodes on RX are independent from FM on the TX. Hope you enjoy the videos. More great stuff coming down the pipe and soon live every week 👊🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it steve! An oldie but goodie! I have enjoyed seeing people take my video and redo it on thier ch. Hahaha not like it's a patented idea but spreads the word since viewership is diff from ch to ch.
@@NoonzAirborneRC I actually just re maidened 2 jets yesterday. After all these years lol. You’re right. Quite a difference in the whole flight experience. Can now concentrate more on maneuvers and less on handling the jet Thanks John!
I tried this today with a couple of my 70mm EDF's and it works great. The flaps aren't synchronized very well on my 70mm FMS Avanti which causes it turn to the left when they're down. With the flight modes on the flap switch, I was able to trim the left turn out of it in each flap position. I was also able to trim the elevator for the proper glide speed in each flap position in flight. I no longer have to go into the flap menu and use trial and error to get the correct flap>elevator mix. Plus, the elevator trim in flight modes moves at the same speed as the flaps. Those Spektrum engineers are pretty sharp..
mate let me say one thing - great video ! - im kind of new to spektrum (use graupner usually were flight-modes are a big thing) and i watch several videos so far even the once from horizon/spektrum itself to find out how i can use flight-modes on my older DX8 G2 ....noone explained the flight-modes and there functionallity on a spektrum radio as clearly and simple as you did, and all that in under 10 minutes, good job, and thanks...very helpful video, greetings from germany - cheers
I’ve always associated flight modes with dual rates and expo. However, this video has shown me that it’s much better to put the flight modes on the flap switch. Being able to trim my planes for each flap position will be much more useful. Thanks!
@@txkflier Thanks for watching and the comment. It really does help trimming the plane to speed! Sorry about that, I did not go into that...I didn't want to possibly confuse some one then they go to trim and it was backwards (happened to me by fat fingering lol)
@@renelioeanjie1485 ive only done that for my gliders and that is done with mixing ie FUNCTION LIST > MIXING > P-MIX 3: LT > RFL > MIX 3 (Left Trim to Right Flap) and so forth. Spektrum sucks in that aspect. Reason ive been using my radiomaster more....open rx doesnr have those kinds of "restrictions"
I think having a variable flap angle would make it harder to be consistent. I use a takeoff position of 15 degrees and a full flap position between 30 and 40 degrees. You don't really need any more than that.
Question: can I set up my 3 flight modes on a 3 position switch to act as my changeable duel rates and expo ?.....example: F-mode #1 has 60% throw's on ali, elv and rudder.......F mode #2 has 75% throw's on all... F mode #3 has 100% throw's on all......I would also set an expo on each of the 3 F modes .............thanks
On a spektrum radio if the nose is pitching down what direction to you move the trim switch up to make it +ve or down to make it -ve???????? Why the hell don't people state this.
If the nose is going down you want to move the trim switch toward you...the trim should be moved the same direction of the stick in the same direction as you want it to go ...so if you are giving "up" elevator (moving the elevator back toward you to keep level) then move the trim same direction. Thanks for watching hopefully that clears it up for you and MERRY CHRISTMAS
It would be wonderful if somebody would make a video on how to set up a sports glider with an IX 12 and a 8-channel system two flaps two ailerons. Crowbreaking, and full span ailerons........ Every type of wing formation that is possible for a radio controlled glider 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞😜
Yeah, i can do that. i actually have a sport glider to make the videos your requesting too! Stay tuned bc spring is coming, thats glider weather in the desert. Thank for watching!!
Since tou have that very basic TX. You cam still do the same. Although you will ha e to buy the usb cable to do this from a computer. Maybe one day you will ua9grafe your tx. This can be done from any of the dx series (not a dxe or a dxs] IX series and NX series. Thanks for watching!
I have the NX8 but never knew the trims on flight modes could be independent. Now ready to trim on my next flight.
Great video, thanks.
Radios are so advanced now! I had no idea you could do that. Thanks!
Its an awesome feature specially if you cant give each surface its own ch. Give it a try it will be like a new plane! Lol
Excellent tutorial John! I picked up a handy tip or two. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks David! 👊

Great video, wouldn't have thought about this myself 🙂

Also, while you were in the trim menu, I wish you would have shown how the last menu option swaps the trim levers from one side to the other..

I have some EDF jets where the flaps aren’t exactly synchronized. Being able to trim the ailerons at each flap position should be a big help..
Thanks very much . Been wondering how that worked for years

Much Appreciated !

Great tip. Love it!!!! Is there any way to increase or decrease your flaps angle in flight. For example using your L trim or R trim
You sure can you just assign that trim switch to your flap Channel
@@NoonzAirborneRC how do you that. 🙈🙈

You can put flights modes on whatever you want...sometimes I'll put FM on my gear switch on delta wings.

I just set up my first plane with modes. If it works out I've got 70 more to set up 👍👍🤪✌👊
Your gonna love it Roy! Just trim those landing flaps to the speed you like to approach. Rest is easy peasy
Noonzy....is there any way you can tie the rate switch to a flight mode so if you go to landing flaps it automatically switches to high rate ?
Yes you can, after tou have tou FM swirch attached to flaps, just assign to the same switch in DR
Noonzy....you are the best!!! Thank you
He said Delta switch. Ha ha. 😄
Hahahaha you got me....i got nothing 🤣
I laughed at that too Josh. Dang military. Lol
