They were so cool. They’re a type of stink bug which is why they raise their butts up in the air when disturbed. It was neat just observing them.

Great job with all those babies!! And thanks for sharing. We lost an avic avic 6 days after bringing her home. She was our first T. I beat myself up for quite some time, even though things just happen sometimes, even to the most experienced among us. This would have made me feel better at the time, so its truly awesome you made this video.

Thank you. We all go through it. Avics are tricky. They’re docile and cute but they can be tricky to keep. I’m glad the video gave you some comfort. Sometimes life does happen and sometimes you may not ever know what went wrong.

Hi Alex, great to see you back, glad you had a great time away, sorry the hunting was a no show though. Regrets about the P cambridgei and also the other losses, I do know how that feels, I lost 60 T's thanks to a nasty flat mate, long story. Great news about the Lp babies though, every cloud and all that. Keep well my friend 👍🏻

@@TarantulaHaven Yeah I was pretty devastated tbh, lost some really, to me, important T's, but I'm bouncing back. Fingers crossed you get that chance, and, don't beat yourself up too much, some things are unfortunately out of our control, your Ac, temps, we can only do the best we can with what we have. We all know, you know yourself, it wasn't intentional 👍🏻

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I can't imagine how bad you felt, esp since half the sac wasn't yours. It's just a run of bad luck, who could've predicted you'd a broken AC at the same time as the worst/hottest summer on record?! Then the trip too! It's just one of those things.

So awesome to get a new video from my favourite tarantula youtuber even if it is a sad one. I can relate with you to a lesser degree. My work started picking up lately and as such I have been away from home for extended periods of time and on top of that I also moved into a new place so things were a bit hectic and unfortunately my tarantulas got a bit neglected as of late which is no excuse but it does prove that sometimes life just gets a bit much all at once. Long story short I lost my E campustratus which was probably my rarest and friendliest t and it makes a person feel like a bad caregiver even if the circumstances were out of your complete control. But life is hard and sometimes we feel down but there are always positives to balance out the negatives.

    • @TarantulaHaven
      @TarantulaHaven  11 місяців тому

Thank you. Yes. That is exactly how it feels. I know I probably could have done more but in the hustle and bustle of things I really didn’t have the time or the presence of mind to do it. I regret it but I really couldn’t have done things differently. I’ll recover and replace what I have lost but I feel bad that it cost those little ones their life. 😔

I bought a Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird Eater last year as a tiny ass sling.
I have 5 tarantulas & this was the smallest one I ever had.
This tarantula grows like you WOULDN'T FUCKING believe lol!
If you want a tarantula that eats & grows & within a year it's the size of your hand, the Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird Eater is your tarantula!!!
Now I'm gonna say some shit that pisses off people, but hear me out.
Imo, IT IS A CRIME TO RAISE THIS TARANTULA IN A LITTLE ASS CONTAINER LIKE EVERYBODY SEEMS TO DO!!!
In fact all my tarantulas start in rather larger cages.
The Brazilian Salmon Pink Bird Eater ABSOLUTELY LOVES TO DIG!!!
Not giving it room to dig would've robbed this tarantula (& me & my gf) the pleasure of watching it make elaborate tunneling systems!
When the tarantula is hungry it sits at the top of it's burrow hole with it's legs barely sticking out.
We would drop in food & if it's waiting at the hole entrance it'll eat 100% of the time & drag it into the hole.
When it molts it closes off & plugs up the hole & retreats into the elaborate tunnel system to molt.
When it molts it would store the molt in the "garbage" area of the tunnel lol! Then it unplugs the hole & it'll come out, explore, & then sit & wait for food.
As it has been growing it's been re-digging the tunnels & sometimes in 1 night it TOTALLY redoes everything & you go in & see this new system.
IT'S AWESOME TO SEE THIS EVERY DAY & I promise you it's worth placing this tarantula in a big tank rather than these little ass film canisters that so many people use. In the wild tarantulas don't have a film canister either.

@@TarantulaHaven Its a very good note to make. Seems like its a general rule when it happens cross country/globe and with spiders not related, even though its the same species.

T's in the wild are not the same attack response as captive bred, they are a lot more timid, Alex when diddling (fishing) for tarantulas in their Burrows a more Gentle..approach is needed.. a cat's whisker taped to the end of a bit of grass touching the web Ever Ever so gently still won't guarantee a showing. Smashing on its door with a tree branch won't get you nowhere..
Very sorry for your losses but sadly also part of the hobby especially here in Australia.. with such insane temperature changes from one day to the next.. that's pretty much the hobby hear... just trying to keep our T's alive..

Thank you. I try not to but it’s tough. If I lose one it hurts but having so many at one time was a big blow. I think what makes it worse is that some of them were expensive gifts and I can’t help but feel a sense of responsibility to ensure that that animal thrives so I don’t disappoint the person who gave it to me. I know they didn’t give it with strings attached but I still feel guilt for it dying in my care. I’ll be ok. I just have to mull it over and deal with it and think about how I can prevent something like that from happening in the future.

Sheer neglect has caused them Ts too die there in a room that 85 degrees they've died through dehydration that's why they've gotten stuck in there molts and all the slings dried out lack off moisture dehydration is what's caused the death off all those Ts unfortunately something that could off been avoided next time you plan on going away please make sure you've got some body too look after your Ts for you make sure they've all got water they can go months without food but in that kind off heat dehydration kills them very quickly especially slings sorry for your losses 😭
