We’re all addicted to something. I’m addicted to riding dirt bikes. I can’t live without it. I’ll get all depressed and whatnot. How about you? Music, guessing by the username? Haha
In Buddhist philosophy, our addictions/attachments are thought of as temporary remedies to the suffering inherent to existence. They arent inherently good or bad, they're just short-acting solutions to a suffering that's fundamentally caused by a lack of understanding. It's a far more enlightened and humane way of framing addiction/attachment compared to what's typical of Christian society.
well he definitely promotes social media. he said we have to do it even if it seems low-grade/lame in its current form. he said we have to force ourselves to communicate that way even if we don’t want to.
I wonder what Terrence would say about a particular social media game called VRChat. Virtual reality medium in which countless people are having conversations and even deeply meaningful interactions with one another at any given time. I believe I heard him mention the idea of virtual reality before and it is here now. The madness and general behavior presented in our mass consciousness in such an environment is fascinating to say the least and I thoroughly enjoy it most of the time. Seen some things, man haha people are crazy and I love them for it. Peace profound 🌹💜
Terence was all for VR and AI and anything related to these two. He loved technology that pulled us closer to create anything remotely resembling a visual language.
Now that you mentioned it, I realized something! The freedom of expression and vast amount of information conveyed to an observer, by sight alone in an instant is represented well by the unique opportunity to select virtually ANY avatar for one's self. I would absolutely consider this a form of visual language! Thank you for the insight, probably not as spectacular or cool as psychotropic/hallucinogenic visions but still.
Eh some people like drinking, some people cant handle it, non of it is good for you physically. Mind you, kniw one wants to be around hippies all the time anyway.
I miss him. He was right the television was just the beginning.
Interesting take, that addiction is inevitable and not inherently bad, we just have to choose our addictions wisely

If it wasn't for social media I wouldn't know about him.
That’s not his point 😅
Clever point.
Social media per se is not the problem, it’s the addiction. Just look around you at how many people live their life glued to their ‘smart’ phone.
Everything has pros and cons for sure.
You’re addicted to Terrance
I had a trip few days ago so pure n beautiful!
"End of footnote" lol what a savage

He had a way with words.

Kudos to whoever created this image.
Thank you infinite flow and Terence💜
If he only knew of the emergence of social media. Sheesh. It’s much more addictive with the invention of smart phones.
What a fabulous talk. Terence really did shine the torchlight into the future
