Agree this lens would be a great starting lens for a beginner in photography and videography. Very versatile and for the price, can't complain much! Great review Aaron 👍
Excellent review as always Aaron. I've always loved my nifty fifty but I feel like it's more than good enough of a lens for me as a hobbyist. Would recommend it to anyone.
Excellent review, it's great to see so many examples. Esspecially from studio shoot too! I'm very impressed how the lens performed there. The images look so sharp and clear 😃
My husband just got a used a7ii from a friend for free so we're looking at lenses for it and I think this will the first one we get. It came with a 28-70 kit lens which is good enough for us but deffo wan't to start exploring some prime lenses for it.
Great review Aaron, I found the comparisons really helpful. The pictures look great but you can definitely see a difference in the sharpness and colors compared to that sigma lens but like you say, for the price you can't really complain! I'm still really happy with my Canon nifty fifty :D
The Canon EF 50/1.8 STM I had was sharper in the center wide-open than the Sony FE 50/1.8 I had, but the Sony had much nicer out-of-focus wide open and better corner sharpness.
It can be reduced but not really completely removed. You will always see a bit of the color fringing I'm afraid particularly with objects and people against the sky and other bright backgrounds.
I haven't on that specific body but have used it on a a7iii, riii and siii and the AF has been great. It's not blazing fast but good enough for slow and normal moving subjects.
Are you a fan of Nifty Fifty lenses? Let us know 👇
My husband has the Canon f1.4 and loves it.
You can never go wrong with either a 50 or a 35
I had to google "nifty" 😅😅
I am a fan of the Sony FE 50mm F1.8.
Had a kit 28-60 and a 24 2.8, but grabbed this today along with the 16-35 PZ. Don't like the reddish look to skin that happens with it. Not at all
Fantastic review my friend. The 50mm lens is indeed like a rite of passage for anyone who gets more serious about photo and video with their camera.
Need to have 50mm lens, love the bokeh and affordable too!
Really in-depth and detailed but still easy enough for a noob to follow along. Great job mate. Loved the video and photo samples!
Much appreciated!
Great lens for portraits, very good review and shots my friends.
Thanks a lot! :)

Great review Aaron 👍
Thanks for stopping by guys :)
Also the price! You cannot beat that for the quality you get!
100%
A great little lens for the price and to save $$$$. Very useful to see all the examples, thanks for including lots.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, Rudy. You are always so creative.
Thanks again!
Excellent review as always Aaron. I've always loved my nifty fifty but I feel like it's more than good enough of a lens for me as a hobbyist. Would recommend it to anyone.
Totally agree
Congrats on your sponsorship aaron & wera 🥳🥳
Aww thank you :)
7:15 wow these shots are amazing 👏👏👏
Thank you :))
Think 50mm is great for photography but found it really hard for videos 🤔 especially considering the downside of the slow af, no is and noisy motor.
Excellent review, it's great to see so many examples. Esspecially from studio shoot too! I'm very impressed how the lens performed there. The images look so sharp and clear 😃
Thank you :))

Oh that's great! This would definitely be a solid cheap prime lens to start with :))

Thanks for watching, glad you're still using that canon nifty 50, we still have ours to this day too!
Thanks for the review and love the eg hatch shirt!
Thanks dude! Nice to meet a fellow EG hatch enthusiast!
The studio shoots are stunning! 😍
Glad you like them!
Nicely done Aaron. One question, the footage sample is ungraded right? It looks slightly washed out so just wonder if you used a flat picture profile?
Yes that's right, ungraded and with a flat PP :)
motor sound reminded me of good old AOL internet
The Nifty fifty is a great go-to lens. very handy as well. nice review as always. cheers
Absolutely, thanks for stopping by :)
I've never been able to get on with 50mms, I've had the canon, fuji and nikon nifty fifty's and I always just end up selling them after a while.
The nifty fifty! is definitely STILL worth the purchase in my opinion! clear. sharp, and bokehhh oooofta. im a sucker for bokeh LOL
Us too!
No matter what camera, everyone should have a 50mm f1.8 lens!
Absolutely!
Wow dear, this was a fantastic review, your photo work is wonderful, hope you can come back to VN one day and I can be a model in your eye 🥰🌹
I hope so too!
price is very attractive!!
look at that bokeh!!! nice!
Great work and excellent videography
The 85mm seems to look a lot sharper. If you primarily shoot portraits do you think it's worth saving the extra 200 bucks and go for that instead?
Yes personally if you know you want to shoot portraits, the 85mm 1.8 is a significant upgrade, but the fifty is the better all rounder.
this lens is a true digrace in the line-up and sony should really make a 50mm F1.8 G (same quality as the brilliant 20mm F1.8 G) to replace it
Good lenses need a pretty view and model, Very good review.,biglike.
Thanks for stopping by :)
Super shots my dude 🔥🔥
Thanks for the visit :)
Amazing review 👍👍 the sony 1.8 looks a lot like the canon one but it seems to be a bit better. My canon one looks a lot softer
Thanks for watching! :)

pretty models hehe good review always!
Thanks! 😀
Very interesting review. Nice lens. Best regards my friends and thank you for sharing. Have a happy week. ThUp.
Thank you! You too!
Awesome review bro
Much appreciated :)
great video review.👍❤18🛎
Thanks for stopping by :)
Say hi to this Girl 😊
Also how much of the chromatic aberration can be removed in post?
It can be reduced but not really completely removed. You will always see a bit of the color fringing I'm afraid particularly with objects and people against the sky and other bright backgrounds.
You used it on a sony a7riv body?hows the AF in Video?
I haven't on that specific body but have used it on a a7iii, riii and siii and the AF has been great. It's not blazing fast but good enough for slow and normal moving subjects.
So good Sony !
How's the auto focus of 50mm f1.8 in video
It's more than good enough for slow and still subjects but won't be great for fast moving subjects.
This or the viltrox 50mm fe?
Personally I would go for the Viltrox. Better image quality and better build quality.
How's the auto focus of 50mm f1.8 in video
With sony Zve10
what is the step up 50mm from this lense ?
I would say maybe the Sigma 50mm 1.8 would be a good step up from this lens but it is quite a lot more expensive!
Fantastic upload Best wish for you my dear friend hope to see you soon
Thanks for visiting :)
👍👍
wow, that's a pretty noisy autofocus! 😲
I'm not a fan of this lens, it doesn't perform very well
What specifically did you not like about it?
