4501 and 630 Doubleheader Steam Trip 2024 - Tennessee Valley Rail

- In 2024 we had the chance to visit the doubleheader stream engine trip put on by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum featuring Southern Railway locomotives 4501 and 630. With 630 in the front and 4501 connected behind that engine, the train made its way from Chattanooga, TN all the way to Summerville, GA and back for a 9 hour excursion. This video is a compilation of some of the videos and photos taken during the trip, from the very first sighting of 4501 at the station to both locomotives approaching the turn table. We hope you will enjoy seeing these two pieces of history in functional use!

Locomotive 4501 was built in 1911 by Baldwin Locomotive Works. It is a 2-8-2 Mikado.
Locomotive 630 was built in 1904 by the American Locomotive Company. It is a 2-8-0 Consolidation.
