At 14:40 the street is Cortland (just before the Citgo station). My childhood home is 3 streets west of Livernois on the corner of Cortland and Monica. I am very familiar with Livernois especially from the University of Detroit to Michigan Ave.
My old hood. I lived on Stearns across the street from St.Cecilia's church. Went to St. Cecilia's grade school. Moved out to the southwest side in the 70's.
My mother owned a restaurant called "Clayton's Grill" on Puritan just west of Livernois. They got a lot of students from U of D as part of their lunch and breakfast crowds. It was an incredible success, though the area wasn't the greatest. Mike Wallace of "60 Minutes" ate there once when he was on assignment in Detroit.
nice little ride'' seen a lot of hoods i use to hang in last summer '' by grandriver '''''' i would like to see you drive down starting going west on plymouth Rd"""' from oakman''' now that would be a nice ride'' just saying'''
At 13:38 to the left going east on Davison, begins the Davison Freeway, the nation's first urban depressed (underground level) freeway, which became a connector between the Lodge M-10 and the Chrysler I-75. For decades there were two scary narrow exits in the city of Highland Park but those have been removed.
2:32 the big E sign was the office of Belvedere construction that had very famous commercials in the '60s and '70s
Very interesting! Thank you for sharing!
Livernois used to have many Used Car lots from 8 Mile Rd. to Michigan Ave. both sides of the street.
