If you live in Southern California, it’s so cool to hear red tailed hawks overhead in the summer. That exact screech hundreds of feet above you. The kestrels are just as charming… but they all seem to be shy with eating as they look so surprised if you see them eating a squirrel lol

If I remember correctly the founding fathers mainly Benjamin Franklin wanted the bird to be the turkey for their resilience. But that didn’t exactly fly with the rest of them tell they settled on the bald eagle.
I just think it’s because they sound almost exactly like seagulls lol if I were to hear that sound on its own, I wouldn’t immediately associate it with a bald eagle, I would think we’re on the beach somewhere.

Idk if they “needed” to change the voice, more wanted to for what they were doing with it. Brother bear used the actual bald eagle noises, and it makes it sound more majestic than straight up powerful, it’s pretty good
I can mimic both bird's calls. I've been told that I wasn't mimicking a bald eagle when doing so, because people are used to hearing the red tailed hawk. (I can also do a very convincing screeching tire's sound.)

I hear red kites and some other closely related species every day which is a lot smaller than a bald eagle but a lot closer to that resembling scream. I always wondered why they gave it to the bald eagle - We have some fishing eagles in europe too, though a lot smaller and they make more of that chirp too.
