Fun fact: one of the reasons for the Philippine Eagles extinctions is due to its loyalty with it's partner, they say if said partner dies, the other partner will not even try to find and replace the partner it lost, it will prefers to die alone in old age than find another... Sounds poetic and loyal, but due to this behavior it's hard to regrow the population of these species... I'm from the Phils and yeah I've been to the places where they preserve the eagles, you don't get to see a lot of them.... I've seen one at very old age being very solitary, they said it's partner died 8 years ago, and it changed his attitude drastically.
I never thought eagles could be that attentive and gentle with their young. It’s the little things like the parents picking the meat into smaller pieces and handing it to their baby. It’s adorable and majestic. I hope that their numbers rise.
their numbers will rise when there is no threat to their population. >>> What are the primary threats to its population? Deforestation is the biggest threat to the species’ continued existence. A pair usually chooses to nest in large dipterocarp trees, and needs roughly 4,000 to 11,000 hectares of forest land (with an abundance of prey) to survive. In fact, the sight of this raptor often suggests a healthy, balanced forest ecosystem. As expected, illegal logging, resource depletion, global heating, and other contributors to the ongoing climate crisis are making things worse for the species. Aside from those, other major threats to the Philippine eagle are shooting and trapping; it is said that at least one eagle is killed per year because of shooting. And for a critically endangered species, that’s one too many.
I once saw a Philippine eagle in my neighborhood, captured because it was very weak. It was so big and beautiful and majestic. It was like a legendary Pokemon. It's an awesome memory
@@peeplup i don't think it is allowed to keep them as pets. Any injured or found eagles are relocated to the Philippine Eagle Center for rehabilitation.

Jehu Anacleto I don't agree with that specially with the increasing rate of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines. I'm not saying all Filipinos are but most I believe are irresponsible.
For the most part, it's not true. In traditional Filipino families, it's the mother that is more hands-on involved in raising the kids; the father just works to provide for the family.
Not true. If they are like filipinos, they would've more offspring that they can feed and once the children became an adult, they'll be the one feeding their parents and younger siblings
Pretty good example of how humans should be. They're monogamous, meaning they stick with one partner for life, have only one child every 2 years, raise their child together and provide for it until it's ready to live on it's own. EDIT: Woah! 1k likes?! Thanks guys!
I remembered going to The Philippine Eagle Conservation Center in Davao City for a school field trip when I was a kid.. There was a HUGE Philippine Eagle that was preserved and placed in a glass box and was displayed in all her regal form, looking like it was just there perching on a tree branch. We were made to watch the history of the conservation center, why it was founded in the first place, and the importance of the Philippine Eagle in the ecology and the conservation of the forest.. I remember being so awed even as a mere child. I think it was my catalyst for being such a loud and active environmentalist as I grew up. By the end of the tour, we were shown the story of how that preserved Philippine Eagle got there inside the glass box (aka how it died), and I remembered crying so hard and feeling so hurt, asking why would people do such cruel things as shooting an innocent bird out from the sky, when it was probably just doing its own thing, or on its way to her nest and back to its partner.. It hurts to think that these eagles mate for life and would prefer to die alone than mate again.. The people in the center said that the bird was with egg when it was shot down by local pouchers. I remembered these memory so clearly that its the only thing I rememberee from the entire, supposedly fun, field trip. The story of that eagle was probably the start of my slow degradation and disillusionment in humanity.
That is tragic and ignorant if someone killed one of these eagles. Anyone who misuses guns should lose their license. In this kind of case they should lose it permanently. If it's an endangered species or national animal or ecologically crucial then there should be a cooperative global lockout on their gun registrations. I have been to Davao and I didn't know about this conservation center! That is really cool, thanks. Hopefully faith in humanity will get better somehow, someday real soon lol
Thanks for sharing such experience...I just felt quite dreadful as to know some people are just awfully cruel... extremely horrid, since there's other people who kill animals for sports...
Now I know why the Philippine Eagle represents us Filipinos. Loyalty. Family Oriented. Sentimental. Hardworking. I learned so much today. Thanks NatGeo!
Majestic. More love, advocacy and promotion of the conservation efforts has to happen. Not seen a local celebrity endorsed or promote this great cause…Thank you Phil Eagle Foundation for all that you do!
There are some celebrities who do increase awareness and help conservation efforts like Born to Be Wild, Jessica Soho, Howie Severino, Dingdong Dantes, Kuya Kim and Drew Arellano to name a few. The new generation of so called "celebrities" will hardly touch this because it is not a huge clout and they will just gain bare minimum clicks. Grinding shirtless or in the skimpiest clothes twerking is more of their go-to gains rather than promoting endangered species and saving the last Philippine forests.
The big birds and the little one had noticed the cameraman and made them agitated or perhaps they felt threatened. You can see how their mane like feathers went up as they look intently at the camera.
I had the same experience. Idk why, but it really made me stop and pay respects to its majesty. Truly in awe of their size. I was lucky to have seen them fly like the king of the sky they are.
They sometimes make chicken sounds which confused me once. There was a ph eagle being treated for its parasites sitting inside a cage. I thought it was a chicken till I looked at it again. Majestic birb and it was shipped off to central luzon to be released that was a few years ago. Who knows, it probably had chicks of its own and a mate
It was a jaw-dropping experience when I first saw this eagle in Davao City especially when it spreads its wings infront of you as if it is going to attack you. This eagle is so huge that you'll be afraid and astounded.
Easy to say but the last time I checked, humanity has not stopped needing wood from these forests. It's unfortunate but even us common people add to this problem because, well, we use furniture made from these trees.
I saw this bird one time when I visit Davao Philippines. The bird is so big and beautiful I was so amazed that time and thinking how Philippine eagle can fly with that big size body 😂 just visit Philippine Eagle center located in Davao in southern Philippines

Edit:Yeah xD snakes are better than worms.Thx for likes!!
If Philippines colonized America, bald eagles will be replaced by Philippine eagles
What worms? Its rat, snake and small mammals 😂
Serbia's Minecraft Gameplay America colonized Philippines but we still have this pretty handsome looking eagle
The philippine eagles dont eat worms, not a normal part pf their diet 😎
Even if they don't eat worms according to them, still, "hold my worms" is funny. 😂

The fact that both parents take hands-on approach in raising their young is very Filipino.
A functional one at least.
oa mo
For the most part, it's not true. In traditional Filipino families, it's the mother that is more hands-on involved in raising the kids; the father just works to provide for the family.
Not true. If they are like filipinos, they would've more offspring that they can feed and once the children became an adult, they'll be the one feeding their parents and younger siblings
No.
Philippine Eagles are more responsible as a parent than most humans are.

Because humans are huamns we are unpredictable and dominant species.
Pretty good example of how humans should be. They're monogamous, meaning they stick with one partner for life, have only one child every 2 years, raise their child together and provide for it until it's ready to live on it's own.
EDIT: Woah! 1k likes?! Thanks guys!
it's an ideal family and parenthood.

So beautiful. Protect our Philippine eagles 🙏🏻
Ok I Ain't reading that
Red and cried
They just kill it for their heads and meats.. those poachers didn't know that it was an eagle.. All they see is meat flying..
Bald eagle has no hair style
Philippine eagle has dat godly hair style
But when all is said and all is done

I'm so blessed that I got to witness a Philippine Eagle flying free in the wild while hiking. It was far and high but it was breathtaking. 😍
Come on mankind stop destroying our nature. What an awesome beautiful bird. Eagles are awesome.
Easy to say but the last time I checked, humanity has not stopped needing wood from these forests. It's unfortunate but even us common people add to this problem because, well, we use furniture made from these trees.
I like eagles too.
Favorite bird of all time. Absolutely beautiful creature.
I saw this bird one time when I visit Davao Philippines. The bird is so big and beautiful I was so amazed that time and thinking how Philippine eagle can fly with that big size body 😂 just visit Philippine Eagle center located in Davao in southern Philippines
