😂
The cursed word
Lol you might not be a superstitious person in the rest of your life but let someone utter these words at work and everyone will be knocking on wood or making the sign of the cross and saying a prayer instantly 😁
Agreed
@p.m. p. This is 💯 true. I am not superstitious in life but we r not allowed to say the Q word AT ALL. I literally start praying and knocking on wood if someone accidentally says it. And not just in ER. Anywhere in the hospital
I HAD TO STOP the video. NEVER SAY it is “quiet” or “too quiet” in a hospital. You will cause a cataclysmic sized event like a butterfly effect of some sort.

Patient: How long are you going to make me wait!

Nurse: /stabs patient with pen/ Now you're a high priority. Just don't take that out.

@@notsparks Nurse: Congratulations, you're next!
😂😂😂
Stabbed, it is a medium priority. Pulled out, high priority, and soon thereafter, no priority at all. Which is one way to make ER less crowded and the hospital less quiet.
And yes, I do ask how long roughly the waiting times are if I need to be a walk in. Usually “roughly, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, more” and tell them that I will not hold them to the waiting time. Patients have to be patient, and if I get to see the doctor quickly, nobody else in the waiting area is as injured/sick as I am. That is a worrisome thought. Especially if you see some of the people there …
My unit had JUST settled down after 6 straight hours of chaos, and one of my few alert, oriented, independent patients decided he wanted to walk laps. In passing, he said, "Wow, it's quiet," as I was trying to finally chart for the first time since I clocked in... Halfway through my 12 hour shift. I almost cried...
Back in 2018, I experienced what it’s like to sit in the ER, waiting to be seen….for the same hospital that I was employed. I worked on the telemetry unit, Oncology and occupational health, so I knew lots of fellow employees. I did not tell anyone that I was an employee or that I am a Nurse. I never do because I am no better or deserve privilege over others. Everyone needs to be triaged to determine who needs to be seen immediately. I did notice an ambulance outside but soon left after loading up supplies. No other ambulance or helicopter came in during my entire ER visit. I could hear the security guard’s discussion, the ER waiting room was full. I did wait my turn, as I know how busy the Staff can be and not seen behind closed doors. I’ve been there, I know.
My facial pain was excruciating & difficult to swallow/left side of face swollen (infected molar-was at dental office). I was triaged after waiting 2 hours (BP 218/110, HR 96). I told them that my throat was swelling & having trouble swallowing. The nurse sent me back to wait in the waiting room. I waited another 3 hours to ask how it was looking, not trying to bother just wasn’t sure if I should have a friend drive me to another hospital. I was told I would be called soon. I thanked the nurse-He was nice. I waited in extreme, unbearable pain to my face, neck and throat but knew they were doing their best.
It’s now nearly 7 hours, waiting to be seen, I walked up to 2 Nurses that I do know. They did not recognize me. I asked kindly, any updates as I am in so much pain and thinking I should go to another hospital if they cannot see me. One of the Nurses literally gave me the dirtiest look. I said there is no reason that you look at me like that, I am simply asking a question. It was difficult to even talk. I went on, I cannot handle being in this much pain any longer, as she continued to glare at me. No compassion, whatsoever. I don’t care how busy you are, no one deserves this treatment. The other Nurse stated, wait….I know you. The other nurse looked stupid at this point. I should not have to be recognized to receive compassion. I wonder what kind of report the other triage nurse provided at change of shift…”pain-med seeker”?
I was seen within 20 minutes, receiving IV hydration, IV steroids & pain meds via IV. I was scheduled for outpatient surgery for next day. When I left the ER via Uber at 1:00 AM, that Nurse was standing alone. Now that my pain was under control, I walked up to her, looked her dead in the eye and said….I have been an RN for 24 years and no matter the level of stress load in the unit, I have never treated another human-being like you did to me. Absolutely no respect or compassion. We are instructed in nursing school to leave our baggage at the door and whatever you are going through, I hope you can work it out. But if you continue to treat People like you did me, you may want to consider if Nursing is what you’re called to do.
Then I left to my Uber.

Thank you for letting her know that (the nurse at the end of your ER visit), you may have helped her learn an important lesson and help her future patients. 👍

We took my daughter in for some stitches from a small dog bite. It was 11pm at night and we live in a small town, so we don't have a lot of staff in our ER at night. An emergency came in and our nurse had to go tend to her new patient who was in dire need of her care. She apologized for leaving and flew out the door. A lady out in the hallway rolled her eyes and said, "How long is THIS going to take..." and she said it in earshot of our nurse. I said, "However long it takes to save his life would be my guess. At least, I sure hope so when it's my turn." She glared at me and walked away. Our nurse came back to check in on us over the next two to three hours and then finally came back and apologized again for making us wait. We told her we were happy to wait for the gentleman to get the help he needed. She smiled and appreciated it and she treated my daughter like a rock star for the next two hours while we worked on trying to give a 3 yo stitches on the face. Here's the thing... It wasn't special treatment, she's just that awesome. Nurses make the world go 'round guys. Appreciate them... It's the closest thing to a mother's love you're going to get in this life❤️

As a medical clinic receptionist, someone telling me they need to leave and come back another time bc they came for a walk in on their lunch break... I would never do that and I work here lol
i was gonna say. go to a clinic rather than the ER, then i read your job title. oof 😅
Ditto! I've been in your shoes and have had patients say/do this!
I had a CT Scan done on my head/brain at a local hospital and some strange mass came up on it.
Doctors fumbled around and tried to figure out what it was, but couldn't, so they called a nearby hospital that specializes in brain tumors.
Once they saw the scan they said, "Holey shtick! Get that kid in here first thing tomorrow!"
The next morning we had to go through a metal detector to get into the ER, because it was about 6 and a half months after 9-11-2001.
Once we got through that, we went to register, they had my name on file from the night before (when I had the CT) and they took me back immediately.
You best believe I got some nasty looks from other folks sitting in the waiting room! 😆
If you're wondering, the mass turned out to be cancer in the form of a germ cell tumor (Germinoma) in my brain and spinal cord.
I had surgery for partial resection of the tumor, 2 more surgeries to correct hydrocephalus caused by the tumor, and the fourth surgery to install a ventriculoperitoneal shunt.
I had 6 & 1/2 weeks of radiation treatments, then 6 months later my shunt "sprung a leak" and I had it repaired on New Year's Day of 2003.
I've now been in remission for 20 years! 😊
What is a lunch break?

Playing on your phone while having "20 out of 10 pain" is correct, but don't forget when they are eating junk food and drinking humongous drinks from Circle K. 😂
@@melindaunknown113 that happened to me when my blood pressure shot up from pre-eclampsia. (Screaming, sobbing, agony I could not control, plus vomiting) I wanted to die bc my head hurt so bad. My BP Awas heart attack/seizure level. 181/101. The pain hurt me so damn bad- it made me vomit. They shot me up with 2 different kinds of narcotics, back to back. Morphine, and delotta. (Can't spell the 2nd one). They neverrrrrrr do that. They never do pain meds like that. But they did me!! The membranes in my brain were swelling, bc my blood pressure was so high- and I was on the verge of having a seizure. If I had, had a seizure, with my blood pressure that high (already stroke range, withOUT the brain swelling) I would have had a heart attack and likely died. .... I am LUCKY to be here. The nurse said if I had waited maybe 1 more hour- I'd of died.
Now see, I had already had my baby, via cesarean.... and NORMALLY the body will correct itself, after the baby comes out. But for whatever reason, mine did not. ..... it was so scary!!!!!
That time was the most severe, but I dealt with pre-eclampsia for every single one of my pregnancies..... *sigh* .. it was so bad. Love my kids, but God it was bad. I ended up getting my tubes tied. Too dangerous for me to continue having more kids.
As an autistic with debilitating chronic pain ... Yes. I am on my phone at 20 out of 10. It helps me dissociate away from the pain so I don't off myself to end it. I can even laugh and joke around. It's called 'masking'.
Do not judge the actions of those in pain.
@@olijones6983 And I totally understand that. I have to have to do that as well during severe ibs flare ups (reading books sometimes helps bring the pain levels down to a non-puking levels).
But the ones that typically showed up in the ER where I worked, were the ones that were constantly there for things they could have gone to the dr or med center for. AND they were frequent fliers. They were the ones that were "12 out of 10" pain that they had no other signs of being in pain levels that high. No squirming in chairs, no needing to vomit, etc. The nurses would look at them and be like.....'you have a stuffy nose and a TWELVE out of 10 pain level? Like you have the worst pain of your entire life right now?!' And I kid you not, people would get a drink of their huge slushy or pop cups, or look away from their phones to look the nurse straight in the eyes and say "yeah". 😑
Where as the people who truly are in severe pain (or shoot, just courteous people in general) will give the nurse/dr their full attention when they are speaking to them. And then when they leave, people go back to their phones. And that is one billion percent acceptable. No problems there at all.
As a side note, the nurses could tell for 99% of the time who was in pain but were trying to distract themselves from that pain. People tend to get this dull look in their eyes because they are trying to cope as best they can.
I was taught that crunching on junk for can be a sign that someone is in pain. Crunchy foods can distract from pain. Some people cope with pain by trying to disassociate and distract.
Anyone who uses a number higher than 10 will never be taken seriously.
My sister was an RN. Worked 3 of her years nursing in the ER. She swore by the full moon. It would be quiet enough to hear a pin drop. She always kept a book near by for those times, but once someone came in She said they kept coming. Hours or even days. One such quiet evening someone dropped off a person on the sidewalk outside their doors and left him laying on the concrete. They grabbed a gurney and got him. After that it went full tilt.
The full moon thing is something I have experienced as well
Years ago, I arrived in the ER via an ambulance on a Saturday night. Shortly thereafter, a "psych" patient arrived by an ambulance. They were screaming out all kinds of stuff. The RNs had to call for security. I said to the nurse who came to my bed, " I guess it's a full moon tonight". The nurse replied, " Honey, it's a full moon EVERY night"😅
So this isn't buried in a reply chain, here's the Defense and Veterans Pain Rating Scale (DVPRS) with no stupid faces to figure out:
0 - No pain
1 - Hardly notice pain
2 - Notice pain, does not interfere with activities
3 - Sometimes distracts me
4 - Distracts me, can do usual activities
5 - Interrupts some activities
6 - Hard to ignore, avoid usual activities
7 - Focus of attention, prevents doing daily activities
8 - Awful, hard to do anything
9 - Can't bear the pain, unable to do anything
10 - As bad as it could be, nothing else matters
Edited to add: Rank what the pain is actually doing to you, not compared to some hypothetical "worst" pain you can imagine.
For people with chronic conditions, don't minimize your ranking based on what you have learned to force yourself to push through regardless of how much worse it's going to make you feel later. (You've totally become acclimated to pushing past your limits because healthy people really have no concept of chronic conditions and how you rob Peter to pay Paul.)
If you're the relative/partner/friend of the person in pain and you know them well enough to know that they are minimizing their pain ranking, now is the time to speak up. "She says it's a 3 but she hasn't gone up the stairs at home for a week." "He says his shoulder is a little sore but every time he tries to lift a gallon of milk I can hear him groan."
I fucking HATE those stupid faces. Those faces mean Jack shit. THIS. Give people THIS. Concrete, objective reference points.
Where would you put “So bad I can barely think straight but I have an anxiety disorder so I’m just going to push through and hope I don’t pass out” cause whenever I say 7-8 feeling like that I get weird looks.
That's very helpful for me! I usually have difficulty describing my pain with numbers. I've always thought I was supposed to put it on a scale compared to previous pains.
@@Ahahahahstayingalive that's a 7-8, I find "7, but I have a high pain tolerance, so I handle it well" helps, but you can always say with the discription "7- it pulls my focus and makes it very difficult to do anything else. Occasionally spikes into an 8 where I can't do anything except pace and rub at it until it clears up"
Still doesn't always work, though. I was an 8 when I went in for my gallbladder, but I'm like 99% sure they didn't believe me because I was so lucid, until I finally hit 9 and couldn't stop screaming.
@@chibinecco1981 oh my god that 7 but spike to 8 was a perfect description for me! Usually when I get to 9-10 I don’t even want to breathe because it makes it worse and I can’t walk properly and I struggle to talk and people are like “you were fine earlier”

I never get help at the ER. Enough pain will make me calm and clear.
Once I called the nurse over and went “hi excuse me. My pain just changed. It’s now centred in one point and the worst pain I’ve ever experienced”
Just calmly stating facts.
The nurse was not feeling me and had turned to leave when I passed out on the floor.
I was bleeding internally and they had me rushed in to surgery just minutes later.
I don’t blame her though because it’s a freakish feature in my nature(perhaps caused by my adhd making me respond this way to adrenaline/danger 🤷🏻♀️)

When someone says the Q word.....I'm ready to throw down
How to piss off a nurse be young and seemingly healthy and be in pain.
Yes!!!!! I have spent my entire life being told I'm not in pain and nothing is wrong with me.
I have a high pain tolerance so even though it is consuming every thought and feels unbearable, I push through and smile and converse with people.
Drs and nurses act like if I can do that, it's not unbearable.....but I push out babies without so much as an 'ouch'....soooo.... I can take pain.
I've been forced to work through all of my pain throughout life (I have a fabulous work ethic & refuse to leave because I hurt) but became disabled about 5 years ago and even though I have proof, these Drs laugh at me when I'm discussing my pain and experience. It's degrading and embarrassing. Hurts my feelings. And I don't get the good care because of it.
To be fair, when you are having a gallbladder flare up and your pain is 11/10 then you have every right to be inpatient. Then leave 5 days later with no gallbladder 😂
I have the utmost respect for nurses. I have seldom meant more kind hardworking people. My family and I have been the recipients of their care many times in the last few years and I am forever grateful.
Bless all you RN's and LPN's. People can work your last nerve in any situation. Admittedly have been guilty of the higher number than 10. Justifiably before I knew better I'd say I have cramps. Three laparotomies later endometriosis left me with a sliver of an ovary. Couldn't even see my organs due to adhesions including my bowels. I started saying "It's 300, and I've been banging my head on the wall for a bit. It's back". Sorry Nurses. 😃
I have the problem of being in a high amount of chronic pain for decades so my heart rate/etc doesn't start raising until I'm hitting a high 7. Luckily I was able to prove to my Dr I can deliberately lower my heart rate/etc (learned how in pain management) and trust what I tell them. I live almost every minute of my life in the 4-6 range and I often cry on a good day in despair bc I know the pain always comes back. I almost wish I didn't have good days sometimes bc it's soul crushing when it comes back. I've literally been knocked out by pain before + screamed for hours while being delirious. Plus due to f-ing junkies getting pain medication is so freaking difficult and you're treated like a drug seeker instead of a human in agony.
I did too, i was 12 or 13 being like "11 haha 🤪 just kidding idk probably a 3?" And they would be like "haha 🙂" as their souls withered away. Poor nurses, im sorry
@@lel7841 I'm so very sorry. Living with chronic pain is horrific. Absolutely believe you've learned to lower your heart rate. You're right about the "opiod epedemic" leaving people with debilitating, and chronic pain having to go the gamut. I especially feel bad for the elderly in pain. Thankfully I had a hysterectomy so no more pain. However I understand the drug seeking BS in a way. I had a heart rate of 240. I was seizing in a way. Sweating. My mom called the ambulance. I know EMT's have a tough job. Understand they have to ask questions. What drugs did I do? Am I in withdrawal? How much did I drink? Stop shaking we can't get the IV in. I take BP meds. I don't drink. I don't do street drugs. Same questions in the ER. Wound up in the hospital eight days. I have a tumor on my adrenaline gland. Threw off my entire metabolic panel. Almost no magnesium or potassium. Metanephrines all whacked. ONE RN said "No wonder you couldn't stop shaking." Feeling that awful, and frightened then allowing myself to feel like some withdrawing fiend because I knew they thought that. When those bloods and urine came back, and all kinds of people coming in hanging bags to go into my IV line I didn't feel vindicated. I couldn't advocate for myself in that state. Again I get they have to ask. You see on them records BP meds. Can you at least fake you believe someone? Endocrinology issue I had no idea I had. Rare pheo (tumor) on my adrenaline gland. I'm not a fiend! Apologies for such a long post. Please know someone understands. Nobody should have to be in pain. Let alone made to feel like a drug seeker. It's not the RN's faults. I respect paramedics, and they probably had a rough shift. Thank God I wasn't in pain. Putting prayers up for you that you get relief. Very proud you advocate for yourself.
I was in such pain I couldn't even describe it. Turns out I had renal colic ( & a kidney infection ), during a heat stroke 🤒
No chairs were available, so I resorted to sitting down on the floor ( impossible to stand up ). The ER was crowded.
When I passed out, one of the nurses called her colleagues and they finally brought me to a doctor on a stretcher, as my mom told me later.
The heat stroke messed everything up!
Do people really act that way? No wonder nurses are always extra nice to me, I must be an absolute dream patient just for being quiet and able to follow simple directions.
Dear people, snapping your fingers is a great way to get an unexpected trip to trauma.

many people don’t know how long it’s going to be until their appointment or what all they are going to need to do during their appointment. patients are normally expected to come in earlier than their appointment time, and many of them don’t even get seen anywhere close to their actual appointment time depending on the case load, doctors, office, etc. while many of them can be patient and wait, many of them have other things going on in their lives and can’t wait at the doctors office all day long. asking how much longer it might be until they are seen could easily be to notify other people who are waiting on them, or just so they can figure out how to plan out or move around the rest of their day.
many patients are not notified or aware that they might need to give urine. also if they’ve been waiting awhile and aren’t sure of when they’re actually going to be seen, you can’t expect people to just pee on command or at least the amount of urine that’s needed for some tests.
The receptionist forgot to tell the doctor I was there. Didn’t resolve that until two hours later, on my second time pestering her. WTF. Yes, ask!

Like I'm a dentist and I can't handle any of this stuff mentioned in the video even though I don't deal with half of it
XD
Anyone who snaps at me better be ready to have their fingers broken.
As a nurse, this is so true.
Actually cold water does trigger the need to pee, so just give them really cold water 😂 I usually can pee enough for a UA, even if I peed fairly recently. Especially if I get a quick sip of cold water and a couple minutes to let it travel through 😂😂
How do you do that without smashing their faces in a used bedpan?
Taps mic.... *No true emergency ever has to wait*
The 20/10 is spot on, especially when the “😢” start after you were just chilling…
Not a nurse, but I've had a lot of male clients hit on me, so I wear a fake wedding ring to work now. 😅
If they get triggered they shouldn't be in the field. People are paying to be seen, they have the right to ask questions.
Yeah that would apply to almost all departments in hospital except for ER as there are other life's on line putting some one else on hold to save a life is not the wrong thing, but again that's for Emergency department
Asking questions yes....being a snide entitled pig no.
The lunch break is my biggest pet peeve and ignorance.
You always make me smile and laugh. Thank you for helping me understand what the hospital staff deal with everyday. 🌱🙏❤️
How to trigger a 20 year old medical admin: Are you a nurse? You should be a nurse.
'I literally just peed- can I get a drink of water', plus the 20 out of 10 pain, complaining after 30 minutes... that's many, many times.
Why is the "just peed" enraging? Were they told that a sample would be required?
I have had that happen enough I started asking they check if I will need a urine sample before asking to use the restroom
@@SimonLausch sometimes the doctor fax’s the sheet straight to the lab and you don’t get to see it so you don’t know
You do know that people go on their phone to distract from the pain 😃
🤣😳 all the innuendo.
I always ask permission to pee when I'm at a doctor!
😂😂😂
I was eating dinner when this popped up... "It's a family emergency..." UA-cam will never know...
Nurses do really go thru that-😭
Makes you just want to scream "That's it! Everyone out!"
"𝙳𝚞 𝚖𝚊!! " 💀🤭
"Peacock... Cause mama's need co-"
i literally died lmao, this is why i went to your comedian show
In fairness, I think when people ask nurses why they aren't doctors, what people are trying to say is that the nurse is more competent and has a much better bedside manner than a doctor.
I had a doc appt & I knew I'd need a sample ... but before I left I just HAD TO GO SOOO BAD! I apologized to the nurse & she just laughed & said it was okay & got me a cup of water.
Things nurses love: hearing your weird medical stories. The melon sized polyp I had brings everyone into my room to say hi and ask questions.
Respect and appreciate all who work in this field ❤
Wouldn’t think you know Vietnamese, and also that “cặc” is on point 😂
I think the triggers for nurses are the same for medical receptionists lol
Bro my parents do that every time they always be speaking Vietnamese so loud
I get it in an ER/ED. But if I made an appointment at an office, my time is just as valuable as anyone else's.
The last one😂
‘Why aren’t you a doctor?’ Pleasant moments such as these
I was an ER patient and checked myself out when I heard the nurses laughing and talking, just ignoring me. The ER Dr and senior nurses were out, so I never got triage. I came in a holiday eve with chest pains. Well, just waited til the urgent care opened.
OMG when Steveioe swore in Viet…. That literally full cracked me up 😂😂😂 so freaking hilarious 🤣
I waited 8 hours while having a miscarriage in an ER lobby. The triage nurse said if it was going to happen, it was going to happen. She was so cold. Didn't even look at me when she said it. I was a crying mess in so much pain. I left and went to an urgent care office. I was suspended from work the next day for calling out sick.
Life can really suck sometimes.
HAHAHA. Yass these lines!! Love it, these lines are hilarious lmaooo. Keep the funny content coming. 😂😂
The accuracy 😂😂😂
I waited almost 12 hrs in the er for a room. They changed shifts and forgot about me. Stopped giving me nausea meds and I started throwing up again.
My sister dogged them and finally someone managed to bring me up and the nurses there were so amazing. They gave me anything and everything to help.
I can feel the eye twitching
The last one "hello?" Nurse goes on rage 😂
My apologies to my wonderful doctors and nurses. I'm sorry for disappearing upon waking up after surgery. I'm terrified of hospitals. They are the only thing that makes me hyperventilate and have panic attacks.
I just had to send this to every RN I know!!! Thanks for the laughs!
Omg! I legit had pancreatitis cause my gallbladder was shot and waited for like 4 hours. I just laid on one of the couches and tried to deal until they could get me back there. It was soooo sad. A woman came in having a stroke and some other important issues and I hurt, but I wasn’t angry. Idk why people think they’re the center of the solar system when they go to hospital.
I love the family emergency LOL
Another easy way is to way overstimulate us. I work with kids, and was in a room to give Tylenol to a kid who was a few days post op: TV blaring, both pumps screaming at me, a crying baby, two younger siblings fighting over a singing toy, cell phone ringing, mom and dad both asking rapid fire questions, patient playing a video game, a noise machine, and someone’s playlist streaming on an iPad. I walked back to the nurses station and my friend saw the look on my face, asked if I was ok, told her everything that was going on in that room and my brain was way too overstimulated for this early in the morning. Yes, we’re nurses and can deal with a lot of things and noises happening all at once, but even we have our limits 😂
His pain? I would say 100 on him being A PAIN!!!!!!😂 😂😂
I work in the ER. And you just hit every one of my buttons right now.
bro got deadly rizz😂😂
The peacock line killed me
omg 😂 the way he passed off the weekend with the bois as an emergency
“Chuẩn bị đi chơi thứ 6 nha, thằng c*c” 😂😂😂 I was shocked, dude!
Omg the Netflix & Chill equivalents were gold 😆
