The map pool change was probably the most impactful thing that happened. Maru might have had an off day or might not be accustomed to the new maps so upsets like this aren't too surprising.
@@fst534 , he has done this in the past, choosing trash builds. His build choices really give it away. If he did his god-mode plays, he would surely destroy this group. But he clearly cannot sustain such high-level play always.. such is the reality of so many top level Terran micro players.
perhaps I do believe solar def maru was an upset i didn't see coming. i also know scarlett's strength is tvz and her weakness is pvz with a neutral in the mirror matchup. def saw her losing to solar well before the 17-1 stat was thrown out there. so sad she was one map away from advancing better luck next time. prob the only current foreigner id root for over my fellow koreans

I was expecing to see the fabled GSL Maru, and i definitely didnt. Yes the Creator, Scarlett and Solar played really well, specially Creator, but Maru just made so many mistakes, it was surprising at top level.

This will be a good GSL. it's funny that most Terran players get destroyed after a new patch or map pool. It almost like they don't know how to play, and they need to find again how to abuse their broken race each time to start winning.

I really don't think it's been a particularly good build when it's been used... ever? Same with hellbat builds - I don't think I've seen a hellbat build work since 2013, but people keep doing them and it confuses me.
Not sure why Maru keeps going Byun style in terms of openings, when imo it isn't that good. Felt like he didn't care much about this gsl season tbh Also shame Scarlet didn't get through, she played pretty well
I just... That was awesome. Probably my most favourite round of the year, Maru definitely first game just ran his standard build, And paid for it, 2nd game, His timing attack just didnt pan out. So good on Scarlett for reading the situation too.
Not only the patch is shit. But they introduced back the old 2x2 and 3x3 maps. As for 3x3 it seems more or less ok, but 2x2 maps are as shit as the patch is.
@@d4slaimless Yea, reading it again now, you were obviously talking about team games lol. A quick tip for you, use the term 2v2 3v3, Blizzard uses this, the x is for map size 140x140. I like 1v1 more, I do enjoy team games a lot, my cousin and me played 2v2 until we were matched with top 16 NA teams, our MMR wasn't that high though I think below 4400, multiple race strategies/plays are just insanely strong haha.

Broodwar is my game, but ive heard alot of rumblings about it outlasting SC2, after seeing that opening match that makes me a bit sad though.because SC2 brings exciting fast paced micro battle climaxes that BW just doesn't.
How many times is Creator gonna make the most bong cloud decisions before the casters realizes that he just isn’t good. He doesn’t “beat” or “win” against anybody, they just lost to him. And nobody loses to Creator more than Creator does. What a mid player
Maru has tried that stim all-in versus zerg so many times and it never works. He tried it last season in the finals against Dark. I wonder why he keeps trying it.
