saying it was well used but perfect condition and I would have backed out.
The reason he waited a week is because he would have created a new PayPal account so had to wait to be able to transfer the money into his bank. He absolutely got to keep the money. PayPal refunded you from their purse and will probably claim it back through insurance. They won't even attempt to recover the money from the scammer, it's just not worth it for that amount of money. Hopefully karma kicks him in the arse real soon. BTW he will never use that PayPal account again, he will create another one for his next victim using another throw away email address.

I've had this buying mobile phones off Ebay The best thing to do is not wait, although PayPal always tell you to communicate with the seller I always get straight onto them at the very first sign of trouble just so they have a heads up. Creatures like this infest the planet, but one way or another Karma always get's them.
I had dealings with this character. He claimed to have a huge selection of Calibra specific parts, at far too cheap prices, eventually my internal 'bullshitter detector' went off, and I decided to block him.
Jamie try speaking to Warren at WG Motorworks, he is a VXR gearbox expert that offers a drive in/drive out service, you may not need a replacement gearbox. He replaced my VXR bearings without removing the box within 2 hours.
If u find a gearbox and can get it delivered to my house I can put it in the van and bring it over as I pop over and see rich all the time.

well a good 5+ years ago i sold a set of wheels to a guy on the island... he then sent me back his old damaged wheels, paypal sided with them 2 times until i called them up and demanded to talk to management and would involve the police as i had marked my wheels and these did not have my mark on them and where clearly a old damaged set, it took them 6 months to resolve it but they did in the end, a few years later i was working on the island and thought id check out where the guy lives :) lets just say it wasn't the nice part of the island north east... i also saw my wheels on his car so i left a lil note and a present for him.

I always think that if people dealt with these strangers (who normally approach via phone, text, social media etc) as they would a total stranger in the street, then they'd less likely to be scammed.
He indeed did most definitely receive the £280. The payment was on hold, he kept you from disputing till after it was on hold where he was able to withdraw the funds.
His scam was completed, paypal refunded you from their own pocket. His account will show minus £280, and depending or most likely was made with fake details otherwise if they're real details paypal will send debt collectors to the address eventually.
It's good you're making people aware of scams like this sometimes people forget how many are out there

Mate, I know exactly how you feel..... I got done for 500 sheets. I put a deposit down on a silver Audi Coupe. L plate, low low mileage. 10,000 he wanted for it. Drove 6 hours to buy it. He claimed it was in show/forecourt fresh.... Turned up to complete the sale and jesus. He knew he was in the shite because he didn't even leave the safety of his house. Poor paintwork, rust, one headlight looked new where the other was very dim. How he claimed it was supposedly show condition is mental..... Chin up, these people will get what's coming to them.......

As said, WG Motorworks in Kent is the way to go with these M32 gearboxes (any anything else VXR related). They build them upto 500bhp so you know they're building them up right.
also, what you should have done is file a fraud report to the police, aswell as via paypal. and thats how the police would then gain the guys details
Ever considered taking your gearbox over on the ferry whilst it's still in the car? Doesn't matter how many gears it jumps out of as you float across 😂 Get replacement fitted, drive back 🤷

It is good to trust some people sometimes. It takes 10 years to realise you are a tiny adult and can trust people in your family/inner circle, 25 further years of getting shit on/bad life experiences and con artist to become a cynic that is also known as a realist. Welcome to your early to mid 30s, people get worse and you get wiser but it will come at a cost and trust is one them.

I had a corsa vxr a couple of years ago and the gearbox went. The cheapest I could find was a refurbished one on eBay at £600. The minute you mentioned that you managed to find one for £280 which included delivery I knew this was never happening.
Gone are the days, when it was readily available to visit a scrap yard with all sorts of cars just sat there, for you grab the parts for cheap. Literally.
Now it’s, order online & get ripped off!
Mate you can buy these new for £600 direct from a supplier, maybe next time call your local motor factors and see what they can do for you 🫡
Takes a while to withdraw money from a new paypal that's why he got you hanging around for a week, The silence meant he now has your original money in his bank account so no need to play you anymore.
Quick answer to your questions Jamie.. number 1.. he’s an enthusiast… probably holds little to no stock & just buys stuff when he gets the order & PAYMENT through.. the reason I say that is because a reputable breaker is never gonna be short of 100 quid to complete a deal.. it’s just out of the question. So when your money didn’t clear straight away he couldn’t send or quickly buy & resell to you. As he has no free cash.
2. He is a total scammer & understands the mechanics of PayPal.. basically they hope the funds clear straight away.. they then withdraw it straight to a bank account & when it’s disputed they KNOW PayPal will solve any possible criminal issues or action by refunding you.. so the end loser is PayPal basically. You’ve been paid.. he’s been paid.. PayPal’s lost & chasing him for the money.. but if he’s a “bouncer” then he will try clear the negative paypal balance by taking another payment from you or someone else.. hence why he didn’t provide any proof of account. So he’s essentially always robbing Peter to play Paul. PayPal allow Ponzi schemes… it’s been happening for years.

Tim Martin would be the best person to go for in terms of getting a second hand gearbox, a and s clutch technology at Halifax if you wanted to get your gearbox repaired with upgraded bearings

If it's too good to be true, it often is. Not to say deals can't be had, but most of the time you'll get hurt

I fell foul also … sent deposit for a trailer.. corresponded with a person who seemed genuine.. drove a good few miles with my granddaughter only to find no such thing … ( DOH) 😣… I reported it as apparently I wasn’t the only one and Barclays were excellent.. . I’ve dealt with a lot of decent folk but got caught out on that occasion… 😮
I had one of these, never had an issue engine wise, but the gearbox….
I had it rebuilt aswell, but decided to go ahead with fitting an LSD at the same time. This just then resulted in going through tyres like they were going out of fashion 😅 VXR = money pits

i find it hard to believe that you cant send your gearbox to england on the ferry to have it reconditioned
That Instagram account looks fake. Registered in Cameroon. Look at the parts, every picture is a different location, totally just stealing other people's pictures
They have another account called "all_vxh_parts_out" which shows duplicate pictures, defo the same scammer

Did this on my end with some 90,s records,, sent them. He got the goods I had to wait4 weeks for payment.... lucky enough I got the cash but I was 100% sure I was scammed by this guy luckily enough I got my money that was a similar amount.... hate stuff like this.

Unfortunately compared to other brands the vxr scene is riddled with scammers , I was in the vxr scene untill recently for 6 years and all I can see is it's not a friendly helpful scene , it's a very clicky bully like scene , so iv gone to the darkside (vag), keep up the good work tho ,

A weak 4-cylinder 1.6 Litre engine (4th cylinder issue) with a turbo stuck on it ..IF you are lucky the car will last 80,000 Miles..

I work in a different industry but buy stock daily, unfortunately come across some people who play games, PayPal offers protection, but these scammers rely on you not chasing up the payment with PayPal. Some people also use it as an interest free loan

The gearbox is a common problem for these vxr’s apparently, I’ve watched a guy on UA-cam before and he had his rebuilt twice in 6 months

With PayPal they can spend the money in their account then when it gets refunded their account goes into negative balance if they dont have anything else in there, so he could’ve just scammed you for a quick 280

Im afraid u cant trust any1 now. So many scammers about i seen it a good few times on various channels that buy cars off there subscribers most off them have multiple issues that are never mentioned by the seller. Shame the worlds come to this.
