Any idea how long will be lifecycle of battery in this setup? Can this battery live longer than for example 5 years without significant degradation even though it's low capacity (only 1kWh) is used by 135 kW electric motor?
Amazing review as always Thomas! In my opinion (being after test-drive with that car) it's a very interesting position on the market. I'm a happy owner of Civic IX gen. and I'm seriously thinking about 11 gen. Love from Poland!
Agreed. I live in the Balkans and i drive a CRV and everybody is asking me what car is this. There are like 20 Honda's in the whole country🤣 Shame for the others with their golfs and passats cuz it's bulletprof reliable sturdy car
The motoring media in the UK is an absolute farce, just a bunch of VAG advertisements. Mind you people are happy to parrot the propaganda too, anything high quality or good value is immediately labelled an "old person's car" and laughed at. In other countries people value these qualities.
@@TheSpoovy It's even worse in germany. People in 70 hp VW Polo are accusing Lexus owners of "being jealous bc they cant afford a VW and have to drive a car for poor welfare parasites"...
Great review as always Thomas! I also had the chance to use the 11th gen Honda Civic for one week and I'm so in love with the clicking sound of the buttons. The only thing I dislike is that in my country, Honda kept the Honda Sensing system but they removed the sensors around the car. lol
Thank you for this review. A lot of information, but nice to watch, sometimes funny bits. The Honda seems to be a great car. I am particularly interested in the workings of the hybrid drivetrain, i think it’s a great concept and I want to try the car out at the Honda dealership.
Hi Thomas, thanks for this review. I am a big fan of Honda's interiors, they look modern, sleek, and they are functional. It really makes me want to get behind the wheel and go for a drive, especially at night when the dashboard and all commands gets illuminated. I do like the front but I am more reserved about the profile and the rear. This wouldn't stop me from buying it though. And I love the Accord too, actually even better (again more for the interior). Oh, Thomas, a last thing: Do you have any plans to review the Citroën C5X? This car is growing a lot on me and your opinion is always valued! Cheers from Canada!
@@autogefuehl Thomas, are you serious? I am surprised you wrote that. First of all, yes, I have seen the 408 review, but the C5X is a car with a different personality and philosophy. Please, if you have time and the chance, review the Citroën. I like the 408, but it's not a C5X. Many thanks!
Yeah most probably but when you actually drive, it doesn't sound annoying like most cars and sounds much bettera and realistic than the previous one, in fact it sounds nice and actually useable. They're using a nice engine tone and good quality speakers here 😌
You missed the Easter egg under the tray in the middle arm rest ;). Excellent review as always, the sound of the doors and hatch impressed me too, very solid. The hybrid drive train is very good (and I'm driving a 3th gen Toyota hybrid drive train with the 2.5 liter). Feels like a car at least 10.000 euro more expensive
The transaxle is quite impressive. It’s an exciting piece of engineering that is more enjoyable on a day to day because of the series hybrid and the ability to sit in overdrive on the interstate with only the engine powering the drive shaft.
Great review. Ordered mine in November same Red metallic colour. Drives brilliantly. The controls are so easy to navigate Estimated delivery is May 2023. I think Honda have a sure fire winner with car 🚗
@@antonskundrotspravieniskis1188 Yes I do still enjoy the car. Nothing gone wrong with the car and there are no annoying interior rattles that you get with some cars
Hello Thomas. Got my Advanced today in Thomas Blue :). Have to agree with you about how easy it was to learn the systems of the car, took me about 15 mins.👍
Just stumbled on this. Nice to see you driving around where I live. Actually not looking for cars, but seeing and hearing this instantly makes me wanna change my Mazda 3 in! 😅
Hi Thomas, it's true that the seat heating button is hidden behind the wheel, but the information on set level is relayed on the top corner of the screen and stays there for a few seconds, so that the driver doesn't need to look down. Same goes for all inputs to the climate system.
Great reviewer - always enjoy them no matter what the car. That’s a nicely styled interior, particularly the dashboard. Simple, clean, stylish - reminds me of the simplicity of the 60’s/70’s. Well done Honda - previous generations of Honda have been super busy so this is refreshing. Also - the engine sound is synthesised but very convincing.
@@antonskundrotspravieniskis1188 I have just driven it for 5 hours on roads of variable quality and the road noise was only a bit greater than in my Audi and Mercedes. On a recently resurfaced motorway the car was very quiet. It's also great fun to drive and very economical on fuel.
A lovely and detailed review of a fascinating hybrid honda. Using the petrol engine to charge the battery at speeds below 110kmph sounds like a mad geniuses plan. I only dont like the bonnet which looks too flat, maybe a slight bulge increase in the middle, would have done wonders.
I agree the Honda drives fantastic with plenty of smooth performance plus great economy Trading my Mercedes C Class diesel for new Civic Advantage. Hopefully arrives at Honda dealership in April 23. Update. The car is now ready for handover in July 2023 🎉🎉
I had two VW Golfs MK6 and MK7 looks like Honda might be my next car because previously VW was user friendly and premium now the Korean and Japanese have left VW behind.
Mate go for a MK8 Golf test drive but fully specc'ed up to R-line fitout with Sound & Vision package and panoramic sunroof (still cheaper than the Honda Civic hybrid by far), with this spec far more luxurious feeling than MK7 and tech far more progressive/futuristic..but still user friendly enough..
Honda did a great job with new Civic. Great looks and superb dash/cabin. Shame about the high price and especially the greedy mark ups on Type-R version by dealers.
I've had mine for a year and hard to find any faults. However, what surprises me is that in that year, I've seen only 1 other Civic EHev on the road (England). Anyone who sees my car says it looks nice and then asks what it is.
Another fantastic review. Love how you sum up a good easy to use interface, it really should be obvious and require little to no learning curve. I also like your sense of humour……amazing for a German! Joke!😂😊😂
I wonder which chassis feels more precise and better planted - the new Civic or BMW F40? I currently drive an F20 and I'm really tempted to test drive this Civic!
One of the best reviews of this car, as usual with this channel 👍👍 but just one little correction, the engine sound in "sport mode" is completely fake, in reality the combustion engine stays almost always at the same rpm, it only picks up at highway speeds but only with one long gear, there should not be a sound change.
The sound in Sport Mode is only enhanced via the sound system, but the RPMs you hear are what the ICE is doing in real time. In other modes will do just the same but without the extra echo/equalizing from the speakers. They tuned the ICE output-generator input with those varying RPMs mimicking a shifter, just to avoid the droning sound of constant engine speed, which some don't like (I would have preferred it). We can say the need for varying RPMs is artificial, but the basic sound is not. The single long gear will engage only at constant speed, not during acceleration (not even at high speed)
I’m fed up with paying so much for my U.K. spec. Oct 2020 BMW M340i what with monthly PCP, £550 per annum (£40K+ car list price) road tax, insurance, £50 per month servicing and then insurance and petrol (basically, £1,000+ per month for a car that usually sits in my garage 5 days a week) so test drove the Civic Advance. I have to say, the Honda felt just as well engineered as the BMW with as good handling and a better ride! Yes my 374bhp BMW is a bit faster but, in all sincerity, after my extended 4 hour test drive of the Civic, the M340i didn’t feel that much faster around town and away from the lights plus it felt like it was trying so much harder; the Civic felt more effortless. Also, the BMW seats felt like cardboard after the lovely soft leather chairs in the Civic! I loved the interior of the Civic and it’s clever design touches; the roller blind in the boot is a masterpiece! I am seriously thinking about trading in my M340i for an Advance in blue premium paint!
Thanks for your review. I took a test drive. The performance, handling en overall package is very nice. What do you think about the overall road sound insulation. I found it to be quit loud. Other cars seem to be more silent like a Mazda 3..
I too, Thomas, was surprised at just how well this civic drives. So much so, I ditched my next SUV in favour of this ( & as a family car too ). I ordered the Advance, sonic grey in October & due April here in the UK. Fingers crossed it’ll be no longer.
I ordered the Sport version in grey here in the Netherlands 4 weeks ago. Estimated delivery time May/June. Currently am driving a 2021 VW Golf Variant.
I don't understand why ppl are surprised how good Honda drives lol. Honda driving dynamics have Always been top tier, Im telling that to ppl last 20 years lol. Any1 who understand cars knew this.
This is funny that German cars at least non-premium went wrong way and Honda shows what is right :). New Honda Civic is quite a banger. Even it is a hybrid you must admire the quality jump of interior, upgrade on all other areas and this great new power unit that surprises everyone with how much efficiency it has while still being so dynamic and having so good basic parametres. Honda is not cheap as a base model, but you can't find a better deal for this money currently it seems :)
I ordered one in the sport trim at the end of September and estimated delivery date was April. A few days ago I got a message saying the car has already arrived and I'm taking delivery of it today!
After almost a year of using it I love the car so much! It's sporty, drives really well, doesn't consume much and very practical. The only negative point that I would say is that the fuel tank is fairly small, about 35l. But for the rest I don't have complaints at all. @@s4nder86
Superb review Thomas, would love to trade my 10th Gen Civic Turbo for this, but not sure when these eHEV's will arrive in New Zealand. My wife drives the new Jazz eHEV and it's fantastic, tons of tech under that conservative skin!
Glad this is coming to Canada in 2023 just as the new Prius arrives. Two apex HEVs, for those with the sense to buy efficient cars but for whatever the reason aren't buying a BEV.
Hello Thomas, thank you for the great review. Just one question. Did you get a chance to test the lights too? Apparently they should have sort of matrix technology, but reading different opinions so I was wondering how do you find them. Thanks
Thomas, might sound like a silly question. Would you compare the riding quality of this Civic to the one in a current BMW 3 series (with the base suspension)?
Lovely car ! I have a 2016 model civic and it’s been a totally reliable and fault free vehicle. It’s a shame the civics don’t have the rear magic seat anymore tho !
14 minutes in you talk about the “sound from the engine”. I’m sure you know by now that the sound is fake and played through the speakers and doesn’t come from the engine. It’s an electric drive train generated by a petrol generator as you mentioned. Otherwise solid review! Thanks Thomas. 👍🏼
Great review, waiting for this civic hatchback advanced trim to go on sale in the states. I already have a request in at dealership for purchase. I have accord 2.0T 10 speed that I love and its a keeper.
LOL re: "Crystal". For once in a long time I see a classic safe and tasty design from Honda. I like. Classy dash too. @Autogefühl thanks for the review.
I gave up my 2017 Honda Civic hatchback because my 1.5 Turbo suffered badly from oil dilution. Otherwise I was very happy. I currently drive a Tesla Model Y and am seriously considering going back to a Civic
Great video! I am curious to know how this cvt will hold up with time. Some of the newest cvts are actually e-cvts and apparently much better and more reliable. I guess time will tell. Danke!
an e-CVT has totally nothing to do with a normal CVT. I think they could have used another name for the transmission without using "CVT". Here a very very intresting video on how this transmission works: ua-cam.com/video/QLUIExAnNcE/v-deo.html
Excellent review, thanks. I have a Sport model on order, due in January/February 2023 (France). No mention though if you can adjust the strength of regen braking: I believe this is possible using paddles behind steering wheel. Can you confirm?
Thanks for the review Thomas! Was really looking forward for your indepth review of this Honda Civic since it is a candidate for me. As far as I understood that fine engine noise is actually fake, it's pumped through the cabin speakers..it's artificial 🙂 doesn't matter though..sounds nice 👍. One aspect I'm really interested in -- from your perspective (I'm due soon to take a test drive myself) is the sound insulation on normal highway speeds good enough? Or you consider it uncomfortable loud? Really looking for you answer. Thanks and keep up the good work! Greetings from Romania!
I've been driving the basic trim (elegance - probably the best in terms of sound/comfort) for a month now and I'd say the insulation up to 120 km/h is great, up to 140 km/h is good (much better than 10th gen, I'd say above avg for non-premium but still not at level of premium cars, audi/bmw etc.), 150 km/h and above is below acceptable in my opinion (that being said this car isn't supposed to be doing those speeds daily and it's definitely better to go with normal premium diesel at this point). If you have any additional questions feel free to ask, happy to share!
Congratulations! Direct to point… I’ll change my corolla Cross hibryd by new civic hibryd a soon as possible! Waiting arribe in Brazil! Thank you to help me in the choose!
hello guys, I have ordered the new Honda Civic Sport from an dealership in Bucharest, Romania, in december 2022, they said it will take 6 months to deliver the car. How much time did it took for your dealer to deliver the car? I have a feeling that my dealer won`t be able to deliver it in 6 months. thank you.
Ordered mine November 7th. Received April 20th. I had been told it could be as late as October. Problems with some colours I think. Hopefully not long for yours. It is worth the wait!

As I said- in Honda system either electric or petrol motor powers wheels. Never both together. Petrol motor only powers wheels in specific conditions as mentioned and it's never in stress or slow speeds (
Cool highly appreciated!
🙌🙌 best greetings!
I have only heard praises for this car! Being what it is (not a luxury car) if you keep that in mind! Its a perfect allrounder!
One of the best reviews from you, thank you.
Highly appreciated! Please recommend our channel 😎
Honda is insanely underrated in europe thanks to the mainstream print media...
Agreed. I live in the Balkans and i drive a CRV and everybody is asking me what car is this. There are like 20 Honda's in the whole country🤣 Shame for the others with their golfs and passats cuz it's bulletprof reliable sturdy car
It's overrated everywhere else.
What's Europe's mainstream print media doing to make Hondas underrated
Great review as always Thomas! I also had the chance to use the 11th gen Honda Civic for one week and I'm so in love with the clicking sound of the buttons. The only thing I dislike is that in my country, Honda kept the Honda Sensing system but they removed the sensors around the car. lol
Thank you for this review. A lot of information, but nice to watch, sometimes funny bits. The Honda seems to be a great car. I am particularly interested in the workings of the hybrid drivetrain, i think it’s a great concept and I want to try the car out at the Honda dealership.
Thanks 🙏
go for it!
Thomas I really appreciate your reviews and the as honest as possible opinions! Keep up the good work!
thanks keep tuning in !
Thanks!
Seen the Peugeot 408?
ua-cam.com/video/idU23O_HDqk/v-deo.html
More or less a c5x
@@autogefuehl Thomas, are you serious? I am surprised you wrote that. First of all, yes, I have seen the 408 review, but the C5X is a car with a different personality and philosophy. Please, if you have time and the chance, review the Citroën. I like the 408, but it's not a C5X. Many thanks!
The build quality is higher than BMW 3-series.
I think the sound it makes in sport mode is a fake sound played thru speakers. Super complete review as always :)
Ya indeed thanks 🙏
Yeah most probably but when you actually drive, it doesn't sound annoying like most cars and sounds much bettera and realistic than the previous one, in fact it sounds nice and actually useable. They're using a nice engine tone and good quality speakers here 😌
The sound is only in sport mode, Eco and normal are silent
You missed the Easter egg under the tray in the middle arm rest ;). Excellent review as always, the sound of the doors and hatch impressed me too, very solid. The hybrid drive train is very good (and I'm driving a 3th gen Toyota hybrid drive train with the 2.5 liter). Feels like a car at least 10.000 euro more expensive
What easter egg?
Thanks 🙏
@@autogefuehl there's drawing of a first gen Civic under there
Ahhh
@@autogefuehl and the date of production of the car you re driving in.
The transaxle is quite impressive. It’s an exciting piece of engineering that is more enjoyable on a day to day because of the series hybrid and the ability to sit in overdrive on the interstate with only the engine powering the drive shaft.
There's something about watching a car review with a German accent. Honey to my ears man 😂
😎🙌
😃
Thanks for the review Thomas. Ordered the top Advance model here in the U.K. just yesterday after a test drive. Thoroughly impressed with this car.
Was the interior noisy because of the panoramic roof? They said that in other car reviews.
It's a lovely car. It's a nice review. Thanks for posting
Great review. Ordered mine in November same Red metallic colour. Drives brilliantly. The controls are so easy to navigate Estimated delivery is May 2023. I think Honda have a sure fire winner with car 🚗
Enjoy!
do you like the car so far?
@@antonskundrotspravieniskis1188 Yes I do still enjoy the car. Nothing gone wrong with the car and there are no annoying interior rattles that you get with some cars
@@richardwells1709 any cabin noise or does it feel premium?
Finally a review that actually gives the proper trunk dimensions, bless you!

This is probably the best hybrid car on the market today. Full stop.

Hello Thomas. Got my Advanced today in Thomas Blue :). Have to agree with you about how easy it was to learn the systems of the car, took me about 15 mins.👍
Cool 😎

Great review and I dig the accent along with the enthusiasm.

Just stumbled on this. Nice to see you driving around where I live. Actually not looking for cars, but seeing and hearing this instantly makes me wanna change my Mazda 3 in! 😅
hehe welcome :)
Excellent review. I have now bought one. Many thanks.
Are you satisfied?
Very much.
how is the noise isolation?
Thank you for a great review Thomas, I love watching your reviews man, great work!!
thanks! Please recommend =)
I agree the Honda drives fantastic with plenty of smooth performance plus great economy Trading my Mercedes C Class diesel for new Civic Advantage. Hopefully arrives at Honda dealership in April 23. Update. The car is now ready for handover in July 2023 🎉🎉
How is the car?
Hopefully no problems so far?
We still have our Honda Fit from 2009.
Zero issues. Top quality!
You should also make consumption videos where you drive these cars as economically as possible in city and highway. That'd be great.
Me like da kr.
Very elegant interior design 2 and real buttons, how nice and useful.
Good job Ho-nu-daa👍
Joke!😂😊😂
🙌😎
Germans have great sense of humor for sure
This is defenitely another car of the year contender. The honda e was good but this is perfect
This is the best video for civic ehev.
I like that coat Thomas is wearing, It's fabulous!
Yes indeed thank you!
What a beautiful place Germany is. Fantastic car too 👌
Very good review Thomas, useful info, thanks. Greetings from Belgium. 👍👍👍
Just a brilliant automotive piece by Honda, very measured product
Interesting!
Great review. Love the fastback style and the old school Audi a3 like interior. This or a Golf? No contest.
Thanks for your review. I took a test drive. The performance, handling en overall package is very nice. What do you think about the overall road sound insulation. I found it to be quit loud. Other cars seem to be more silent like a Mazda 3..
Yes sound insulation is not top notch
I too, Thomas, was surprised at just how well this civic drives. So much so, I ditched my next SUV in favour of this ( & as a family car too ). I ordered the Advance, sonic grey in October & due April here in the UK. Fingers crossed it’ll be no longer.
I ordered the Sport version in grey here in the Netherlands 4 weeks ago. Estimated delivery time May/June. Currently am driving a 2021 VW Golf Variant.
@@larsv6144 Also moving from VW; 2020 Tiguan! Sounds like we ordered about the same time. Won’t surprise me if mine’s pushed back!

Mark, did you recieve your Civic already?
About the seat heating button. You can actually see the level on the screen as you push the button, also in the video. 😉
I'll definitely pic this Civic over a Golf or a Leon or any other car in the same category.
The Cupra formentor may sway you
Thomas you deserve Quote of the year @ 26.00 !!
Top 10 Civic comment. Great review road!!!!
I ordered one in the sport trim at the end of September and estimated delivery date was April. A few days ago I got a message saying the car has already arrived and I'm taking delivery of it today!
Enjoy 😊
How do you like it?
After almost a year of using it I love the car so much! It's sporty, drives really well, doesn't consume much and very practical. The only negative point that I would say is that the fuel tank is fairly small, about 35l. But for the rest I don't have complaints at all. @@s4nder86
Superb review Thomas, would love to trade my 10th Gen Civic Turbo for this, but not sure when these eHEV's will arrive in New Zealand. My wife drives the new Jazz eHEV and it's fantastic, tons of tech under that conservative skin!
Cheers!
Thanks
Indeed , oncoming traffic is not blinded
Thomas, might sound like a silly question. Would you compare the riding quality of this Civic to the one in a current BMW 3 series (with the base suspension)?
Every question is fair to ask!
A competitor with adaptive suspension does better, but vs another base suspension in this segment i dont see any disadvantage
@@autogefuehl Thanks!

Lovely car ! I have a 2016 model civic and it’s been a totally reliable and fault free vehicle. It’s a shame the civics don’t have the rear magic seat anymore tho !
Keep your 2016 for ever
It’s more reliable than the mk 10
14 minutes in you talk about the “sound from the engine”. I’m sure you know by now that the sound is fake and played through the speakers and doesn’t come from the engine. It’s an electric drive train generated by a petrol generator as you mentioned. Otherwise solid review! Thanks Thomas. 👍🏼
I have a 9th gen and im strongly considering upgrading
Great review as always. Thank you!

Great review, waiting for this civic hatchback advanced trim to go on sale in the states. I already have a request in at dealership for purchase. I have accord 2.0T 10 speed that I love and its a keeper.

Great review!
thanks keep tuning in! :)
This is a best buy in the segment for sure! Thanks Thomas! Too bad they didn’t give you a Thomas Blue Civic :))
😁
my only question about the hybrid is why they use the 2l engine instead of the 1.5l. Here we would get taxed higher for the 2l engine.
Danke!
This Civic doesn't have any gearbox. Honda classifies it as an eCVT, but they use only the electric motors to change the speed
an e-CVT has totally nothing to do with a normal CVT. I think they could have used another name for the transmission without using "CVT". Here a very very intresting video on how this transmission works: ua-cam.com/video/QLUIExAnNcE/v-deo.html
What a fantastic review! Thanks Thomas. You should choose blue colour on this Civic ;)
😎🙌
Excellent review, thanks. I have a Sport model on order, due in January/February 2023 (France). No mention though if you can adjust the strength of regen braking: I believe this is possible using paddles behind steering wheel. Can you confirm?
Cheers! I ll re check
Yes, it’s possibly to calibrate the regen braking using the steering paddles
But it resets each time the car is restarted
But not surprisingly when in sports mode.@@Colster1001

Thanks for the review Thomas! Was really looking forward for your indepth review of this Honda Civic since it is a candidate for me. As far as I understood that fine engine noise is actually fake, it's pumped through the cabin speakers..it's artificial 🙂 doesn't matter though..sounds nice 👍. One aspect I'm really interested in -- from your perspective (I'm due soon to take a test drive myself) is the sound insulation on normal highway speeds good enough? Or you consider it uncomfortable loud? Really looking for you answer. Thanks and keep up the good work! Greetings from Romania!
yes indeed in sport mode!
Hm it is ok but nothing special as for insulation, premium cars do better there, but are also way more expensive
thanks for the support ! :)
Know this episode btw?
ua-cam.com/video/jkNtF_Nquyc/v-deo.html
I've been driving the basic trim (elegance - probably the best in terms of sound/comfort) for a month now and I'd say the insulation up to 120 km/h is great, up to 140 km/h is good (much better than 10th gen, I'd say above avg for non-premium but still not at level of premium cars, audi/bmw etc.), 150 km/h and above is below acceptable in my opinion (that being said this car isn't supposed to be doing those speeds daily and it's definitely better to go with normal premium diesel at this point). If you have any additional questions feel free to ask, happy to share!
