I think the main complaint against BDSP (other than it looking and playing like complete garbage) was that it was TOO faithful to diamond and pearl, and disregarded platinum (the agreed upon superior version of the game). Plus, i think if u liked palworld, you should try out legends arceus, that is if you end up getting a switch. The point abt you not wanting to buy a switch to play the known to be bad pokemon games, i totally agree with you on that. Thats kinda why i bought a 3ds and im replaying every pokemon generation (up until gen 7 ofc)
Yeah, I'm aware of that. Spent a lot of my childhood playing them. My main gripe with it is the wasted potential to be something better that it absolutely had. The video I linked gives examples. I didn't get into it here because it would have tripled the length of the video, and therefore triple the time it'd take for me to get it finished.
This video has gotten a fair number of views, but those views have so far not translated to new subscribers. I believe the reason for this is because I failed to give any details on how my Monster Tamer game would be different from Pokémon. That is exactly what I'm going to discuss in next video about the topic. Thank you for your support; and if you haven't already, subscribe to stay tuned for that.
As far as getting sued by nintendo you can just read the patents they filed for pokemon gameplay and so long as you deviate from what is directly stated in the patents, such as the "catching monsters in a field with a ball" or whatever their new patent is, they can't sue you. So instead of using a ball you can use anything else so long as it isn't spherical.
If you wanted my input as why I came off odd from this video: ( I want to clarify beforehand that this isn't meant to be a dig at you, and is more aimed at feedback I guess) I generally am pretty displeased with the mon games for a good while, and have had no real interest in touching things after SV. Like SS I grabbed neither of its DLC, but I walked away with greater frustration to where I am not interested in getting a new game unless I see actual change, and I mean beyond just what looks cool when trailers roll around. So I get the sentiment! That being said, taking two moments of a 5 minute video to mock( not sure if this is the right word, its not as extreme as that) people who still wanted to give GF a chance and were disappointed Is a bit silly, but I think the bigger thing is that a large part of the sales for the 'mon games as of late has been the success of the switch and the many people who got into Pokemon through emulation now picking up a mainline game. Not to suggest it's just now happening, but I think a lot of people are starting to cascade into that. That aside, it's also majorly just young children as is the series target audience. I don't think its a bad thing to be upset about, I think it's just the way you said it that made me not really interested in your project. I might stick around to see what you do, but I've seen a lot of "This is like something else that I grew discontent with, so I made this out of spite" creations either not cross the finish line or end up feeling like a product of spite and not love. This vid is nowhere near as extreme but it reminds me of Arin Hanson's real old OOT review / sequelitis later episodes. Cheers, wish you the best of luck as game dev is HARD and releasing something takes a lot of fortitude, and RPGs are especially no different.
@@moonlitwyvern6840 Yup, I've noticed the dislikes. And yes, part of it was my sass. Not something I intend on being a constant throughout the series. Thank you for the constructiveness. Nintendo/Game Freak care about money above all else. When they make a bad game, see the controversy, but also see it become the 2nd best selling games in the entire series, they learn that the games will sell regardless of quality and can get away with ignoring their fans. That ends up being exactly what they do. For example, they have continued to double down on the Forced EXP share for 5 years now. Whether it's the forced EXP Share, Dexxit, Linear map design, poor competitive balance, or whatever else can be pointed out, I argue that by continuing to purchase modern Pokémon games, you are enabling their behavior; and it frustrates me to see that as angry people are about the franchise, most don't actually care enough to take the collective action necessary to put on some real pressure to force real results. So, I let myself go and had a little fun this one time. After a years worth of experience learning the Godot Engine, there are several ideas for projects I want to explore. The current phase of this channel is to announce all of those ideas, see which ones get support, and which ones don't. The workflow of each will be figured out afterwards. So yeah I can understand your concern about "seeing spite projects never cross the finish line". One person can only do so much, and I might have to end up picking and choosing what projects to pursue by the end of it. We'll see when the time comes. Wish you the best of luck as well.
@@Claudehopper Yeah, I understand that. I personally have always been the person to put their money where their mouth is, and I stand firm on plenty of boycotts / dropping patronage of certain things. I ultimately get that contradictory behavior is frustrating, my point was more or less is that I don't think the spike of players after USUM was about fans who continued to still play but were turned off but the console its on as well as a new generation of gamers having the perfect chance to play some fresh new games in something they likely were already playing (very legally) Don't forget to have fun, spite is a good motivator but it's a powerful fuel that burns real fast. I've been part of too many teams to see that happen immediately haha
11/11/24 The current decision is that I will begin development of the Monster Tamer game, but I will not be making a dev log series for it.
3:22 yes !! i think it'll be pretty cool and exciting to see what you'll make :) !!
Make a game
whats the game in the background called? think ive missed it
It’s a game called "Coromon". Worth a try in my opinion
Count me along for the ride 👍💪
Gotta take risks! I have a dnd based game of Pokemon i created and don't know what to do with it.
just subscribed, make a fan game bro!

Hate to be that guy, but it's not like D/P were the best games either. Given, Bdsp has many deep problems that exceed the game they were based on
