As long as the Directors and the Producers and everyone involved get paid what they were promised, there really wouldn’t be any legal basis for them to sue unless there was a agreement that “the film has to be released”. I get what you mean, it sucks and can be a bummer to the people involved with the project. But in terms of how the business they are in works, what would you have them do instead?
10:32 Who TF on the internet is pleasantly surprised by the Borderlands movie? It looks absolutely horrible, and its been one of the least divisive things on the internet the last few weeks.
Regarding Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - I've enjoyed both Ghostbusters Afterlife and Bill & Ted Face the Music, so I do have hopes for this sequel and will definitely be going to see it on the big screen.
My optimism for Borderlands only went down after watching the trailer. Oh sure, they have the look/aesthetic right, but that's one of the few things it looks like they've actually gotten right. Jack Black seems to be doing a solid Claptrap and I like what I've seen with Tannis, but Krieg is just an odd choice of focal character from the start, they seem to have missed the point of Tiny Tina, Kevin Hart is just playing Kevin Hart, and ironically I don't feel like there was enough of Lillith to get a feel for her portrayal yet. It comes off to me, after the trailer, of a movie that fans will have a lukewarm reception to and non-fans won't understand what's even going on quite possibly. Unless trailer 2 comes out and just shows the first trailer as a poor cut, I don't see it seeing much success at the moment.
Cate Blanchett is an unbelievably overrated actor - anytime she tries to play against type (intense and dignified), she fails miserably. One note show pony. And I say that as an Australian.
20 years ago she may have been able to pull it off, heck 20 years ago Jamie Lee Curtis might have made a good Tanis. But casting them now would be like casting Patrick Stewart to play Peter Parker.
i am a little surprised to not see THE CROW on this list. i feel it's being unfairly hated because of a perception that it dumps on the original. but the trailer looks good. i have been a fan of the franchise since the original movie came out, i saw it opening night. i have read every comic, seen the TV show and every sequel since then. very little of it was all that good (O'barrs comics are great, THE CROW: SALVATION is better than people give it credit for). i think it's high time for something new from the franchise.
_Pleasantly surprised?_ Not sure about that. Some people might have been OK with it, but I found it suitably disappointing, or rather 'more or less just as expected; not good'. Even the one casting choice I thought _might_ have been decent, which was Jamie Lee Curtis as an (older) Tannis fell pretty flat. I think with better direction she could totally have pulled off the character. They could do worse than Jack Black I suppose, but considering it's a VA role, they could have, you know, used one of the actual VAs for them? But of course, it wouldn't be a recognizable name for general audiences, so of course they wouldn't do that. Casting recognizable names is all well and good if they are at least suited for the role, but studios would probably save a lot of money on paycheques if they mostly used well-casted unknowns (or lesser-known) people instead. Celebs might get some buts in seats initially, but if the direction and cast is poorly chosen, and/or the writing is bad, that generally leads to less long term success.
Oh, Burton has not spent 30 years trying to get a sequel made to Beetlejuice. They offered him a sequel immediately after the first film was made, and he said no, but they kept after him, so he wrote a deliberately awful script, called, “ Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian” with the specific intention of getting them to shut down any possibility of a sequel. Which worked. I don’t know when he decided he wanted to do one, but it was a hell of a lot more recent than 30 years ago. Probably within the last 10 years.

Oddly, I'm hoping The Crow reboot is actually good. I'm definitely not trying to say anything bad about the original or Brandon Lee, but what came after it was so bad. The trailer for the new one looks promising (tho a little "brighter" than the original), and I'm hoping Sarsgaard can hold a match to Lee's performance.
I got to see a version of Rebel Ridge last year, and I thought it was pretty solid. I've just been waiting to see when it will be fully announced.
They got Kevin Hart to play the badass Roland in borderlands movie that is enough to tell me fuq that!!
The first omen is a good movie. But if you've seen immaculate then you've seen the first omen. I swear they filmed those movies next door to each other
I like Nell Tiger Free in Too Old to Die Young.
Borderlands being on this list is hilarious. When I watched the trailer I had to check it wasn't April Fools Day because I honestly couldn't believe how crap it looks. It's going to be sent out to die like Madame Web.
OMG Beverly Hills Cop 3 was my favorite out of the trilogy
Nah man, the first two are so much better. 3 has some great moments, but it was lacking something. I'm actually looking forward to the new one though.
The pilot of the TV show is out there, and I'm pretty sure Axel F will be better than that.
