It is absolutely astonishing and mind blowing to read an obscure pianist from the war-torn, poverty-ridden country was blessed with so much gift then recognised in the world stage. Ever since I heard this piece, especially such emotionally revealing 2nd movement I can't stop listening to him. Your post of his recital in 1985 has become my everyday list. Makes me wonder what was in his young and lonely soul.

Though I have other later recordings from Dang Thai Son, but not from 1980. Interesting to hear how he played as a young man. He came out of the blue and won first prize, became the first ever Asian to win the Chopin competition. Excellent upload quality by the way.
