I just made this on a G-Shock GD100 using 550 Paracord. It came out good, not great but good. It was a very tight squeeze when it came to going under the watch. I couldn't get two of the strands through the spring bars, so I had to literally bypass. It was ok, not a big deal. I also added a Compass with a survival clip.
And how do you change the watch battery? I'm doing it in two sections; it'll give me access to the watch back and also keep the watch slim on my wrist.
Good point. My watch is already thicker than I'd like, so I decided to do it in two sections. Came out pretty well, though I can't post photos in comments. Also, I don't cross over any cord in between knots. If doing a double wide solomon, every other knot I throw out two cords and tie one square knot. It looks great when you use smaller cord and have more knots. The little diamonds left between knots worked out great with the old watch clasp from my broken strap. Cheers!

You can remove the pins and the cord will stay in place.

I'd probably leave bit more extra cord, but melting and flattening is usually sufficient...
