Two Cautions: This design makes great looking professional watch straps whether you use standard strap buckles or plastic paracord buckles but there are two issues to safeguard against. Watch straps invariably get dirty and perhaps a bit sweaty and need to be washed, All commercial paracord shrinks when it gets wet. The shrinkage in length is almost always between 15 - 20% if the cord is straight and not been knotted. If the cord has been knotted / woven, then the shrinkage of the weaved product is typically 6% of its unshrunk length (full military spec paracord does not shrink but costs a lot more and the color selections are limited). If you wish to avoid the problem pre-shrink the paracord by immersing it in boiling water for 30 secs. You can use a curling iron or flat iron to flatten the cords right after you take them out of the boiling water so you only add a few minutes to the project. After you cord dries it will have shrunk 15-20% but it will never shrink again no matter how often you wash it. Caution #2 is color dye run, Be careful where you purchase your paracord from. None of them are supposed to run / have water soluble color but some do. Every color that I purchased from a company called Canada Paracord ran - types 550, 95, and microcord!! The multi-corded cord ruins itself because 2 its 2 or 3 colors all run together. And they run in cold water or hot. I have purchased tons of paracord from Paracord Galaxy in Utah and its all wonderful. None of it has ever run but like all other commercia nylonl cord it will shrink. I have also purchased quality paracord from Bored Paracord and it also does not run. I am not able to comment on the other major paracord sources so you will need to check out what you are using.
Thanks again Tim for the design and great video. Cheers, Murray
"Commercial" or not, those are the two best sources for paracord online. I've not seen any that offer better selection, price, and service than either Paracord Galaxy or Bored Paracord.
@@TerminusVox My not was definitely NOT meant to be commercial. I have no affiliation with the two mentioned companies. I shared the discoveries from my experience so everyone else could avoid some of the negative consequences. At this time I would also like to add one more note regarding shrinkage. The 15%-20% shrinkage is linear shrinkage which occurs on new cord, straight and unknotted. If the cord has already been woven / knotted into a design and then shrunk in boiling water, the shrinkage of the length of the knotted design is approx 6%. That is because of the way the 7 inner strands of paracord 550 twist and the constraints from the knotting especially if the knots are pulled very tight. Cheers, Murray
Thanks, Murray M! Great money & time saving advice. As a jewelry artist I never want any work that I've created to break or become defective in any way. For example, some natural gems can fade/change over time under extreme conditions. Many dyed stones (lower quality processes, etc) can bleed onto the wearer's skin & clothing. It pays to do research on any material being used, in order to provide lasting quality and keep clients happy. Thanks again!
I can't believe this has so little views with such a high production quality
It’s because people nowadays are really low on patience. And there no doubt that’s what this man does is quite amazing.
🙏🙏🙏
Unfortunately paracord is kind of a niche thing u guess. Also it is relatively cheap, or least where I buy my cords 😅. Unkike some other great artisans hobbies. For me it helps me relax and find myself again. I can spend hours while the worls just passes by around me
Awesome thing, I've been looking for something like this. Never thought of gutting the cord to make it appear flat. Great ideas.
Keep on going
That Hamilton "coop" is my grail watch. It looks awesome. I loved the movie "Interstellar". When my daughter graduates I want to get her the murf, and the coop for myself.
Looks nice AF.
Started doing one of these a while ago but never finished it. Now I'm gonna do it.
Love the way it looks in that Casio ,,, that’s a fantastic piece of work
I just finished mine, did it in black, and it works great with my 20mm Maratac watch. Wish I did mine a little longer but I love it. Might have to make another and maybe mix in some other colors.
❤️🥰 you removed the inner strands.... WOW. epic. And the flat iron. Cool. Thank you. Back to the parachord board 😆
Nice! I've made a couple in black. The method you show of back-stitching the ends is much nicer looking than what I accomplished.
Just made one for my Vostok Amphibia, and had a lot of fun! It could look better, but I am proud of how I integrated my keeper by weaving the loop into the back of the band and melting into place.
This was so helpful!! Thank you. It was much easier than I thought too!
I've did a lot of paracord work, but the hair straightener was a new one. We learn every day...Good Vid, Thanks.
Looks great, now to decide which watch I want to make one for.
Was planning to do a mated snake knot strap for my watch, now I am going with this. Awesome video.
I love the look. You did a great job with your video. Very easy to follow. Thank you. 👍🏻
Nice. I am planning to do the same for my Fossil vintage watch.
Been looking for a while for a watchstrap i could paracord. Definitely trying this one. Thank you
This is an awesome project! A paracord watch band that's flat. I'll choose orange, my favorite color.
Excellent tutorial!! Well done. I will be making one myself.
Your teaching are awesome! Thank you!
Amazing work. Love this. Will make it soon
Thank you! Gonna give this a shot!
Not only does this compliment ur channel, it's a awesome idea. Gd deal👍😉🥃cheers!
Ohhhh god!! Jesus!!! Love it! Thank you I adore your videos!!🙌🔥
Definitely trying this out! Thanks!
So nice! Can't wait to give this a try.
This was great thanks. Also if you don't want to wet the Paracord you can use parchment paper to not burn the cord
Chill and Hubba Bubba..... It came out sick ,thank you. You rock!!!!
Amazing! I want to try this for my watch collection ♥️ great job!
Cuff watch bands are a must
Thank you so much for making this video. As a non-weaving watch collector, it's a bit intimidating, but you explained it really clearly !
That's a really nice Casio and I LOVE your smooth background music, Cheers mate !
Looks absolutely beautiful
Thank you I did same way. It works perfect
Awesome job! It looks great.
Casio know they make some nice watches. Love the strap
Easy. I love the away of the project
Very nice, thank you for posting.
Hola Tim, que buena tecnica. Gracias por compartir :)
Definitely going to try this with my Samsung galaxy watch!
WOW!! Just a beauty!!
For me - excellent! I hardly remember, in 80's, I had such similar strap for POLJOT watch...
Excelente idea. Gracias por enseñarla 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
perfect thank you so much for this tutorial i am going to do this keep doing what you are doing man keep up the good work i love your videos
I made it! I have a Timex Expedition 100m watch and the band broke after two years. I liked this band bc it looks sleek and it's flat. I made it in an army green color! I had to put the video on slow speed to follow along. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Thank you so much for the tutorial!
I've got an Expedition too, the T44921 steel model with HUGE numerals.
After 3yrs of wear the fat tan leather strap on it is one of the best cheap leather straps I've every owned. Was yours a different strap to mine ?
I hope you have taken precautions against the shrinking of the paracord. It will shrink when getting too wet. Unless you used the military grade one.
I would like to make exact same colour as in the vid. Thank you...very nice and educational. Please do some more on other materials too.
Looks good! Video is really nicely done too.
My Casio F91-W strap broke and I've used this method to replace the strap. I had to modify the metal strap points (they weren't spring loaded) and found stitching the braiding ends with olive green thread much better than the gluing method. But a brilliant tutorial, giving new life to a cherished watch.
I am about to do the same for my F91W since its strap just broke. Did you use a 20mm buckle, or the original blue that came with the watch?
Beautiful. Thanks
I did this for my smart watch ♥️🤟🏻
THANKS for sharing this !
This was so helpful thank you!
GREAT IDEA!!!! Thanks for sharing this, it was very informative especially for us Paracord hobbiests!!!!!
CRAZY NICE BRAUTIFUL STRAP...
Very nice! BRAVO!!!👍👏
Awesome man.. can't wait to try it with black . N a mechanical skeleton watch
Wonderful job I like it.
I wonder how I've never seen this before. I have two watch straps that I designed for my watch. Ones a king Cobra knot and the others a custom one I made up. I made it almost identical to a normal bracelet but made it so I could put a watch on, so it's not adjustable like yours. But it's my own custom design on a unique type of Paracord project so I'm happy with it.
Lovely Watch Strap
Awesome idea thanks
Great stuff!
That was beautiful!
Love that one!
From doing much tree work I absolutely have to "watch" this... 🍅🍅🍅🍅

Wondrful! I need that for my Panerai Watch. Watching from California 😍
Great choice! And congrats on owning a Panerai, I've always wanted one. May I ask which ref # you have?
Well done..I have a Seiko 5 that needs a strap.Will use black
Ironing it!

Awesome work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
excellent service 10/10 👍🏼
Very nice, I have to try this!
My Hamilton Field Khaki desperately needs this. Strap is worn and falling apart, but I want to re-use the buckle from it, and keep the green fabric aesthetic.
Great idea
It amazing 😳 wow nice tutorial ❣️
your video is enlightening to me cös i always wanted to do this but for the cord diameter (duh..!)
thanky migo
Beautiful
Despite being a very affordable watch, that Casio looks stunning! Thanks for a great video!
Thanks and you're welcome! Also, I know right? Not too shabby at all for the price. I think I paid about $32 CAD for it at the time, it may have gone up a little since.
I've found it on ebay for 20eur,a bargain for a great looking watch. I have a diverse collection of very affordable watches and i get a lot of joy wearing them and i am not worried about the price:) cheers!
Damn man! this looks so good!
Respect well done
I want one This really nice
Great video~~!
Thanks for this design.nice
Great job
Nice and neat.
Thank you!
yep, need one of these. this would be a great alternative to a nato on certain days
this is awesome
It was perfect, thanx
Great work, Tim! Love the way it looks gutted and ironed flat. Very professional. I had to watch to see if it was the same as the 6 strand braid I've done with leather & suede lace... It is! Watched the whole way through & so glad I did. Well done! The buckle hitch & pointed strap end are awesome ideas to use in my jewelry work. THANK YOU! ❤️

I wanna purchase this strap with watch plz provide me ....
Hi macha.. I like you nice video...
Can you tell me how much the thickness of the strap is only done well? Is it possible to go straight through the lugs without removing the spring bars?
