if you bought the kit it includes a power adaptor you connect the light strip to. if you need a reference to see the power adaptor you can visit the link below. monsterilluminessence.com/product/led-strip-mood-light-kit-16-4ft/ I'm not sure if these will connect to a wi-fi signal.
as far as I could tell from the info sheets you use the remote.These don't have wifi so the monster app can't be used with it. But you can always contact the brand and ask just to make sure.

You can try contacting monster directly to ask for a suggestion. monsterilluminessence.com/contact/ The info sheet also stated that you could pair the lights with a phone or another device. You can try to download the Monster Smart App to see if that works. here's a link sharing the connect info for the wifi signal monsterilluminessence.com/faq/ It will only connect to a 2.5 GHZ WiFI signal. There are a few remotes on Ebay as well. That's the only advice I can give.
Have you tried changing the batteries? I found the remote to be a bit tricky too. Also I'm not sure if you need to be a certain distance away from the lights for the remote to work.
