I'm glad to know that both Paul and Ringo are still alive and kicking and in good health both mentally and physically. I hope they'll stick around for a while. I know I'll be all bummed out and depressed the day all of the Beatles will be gone. I will feel orphaned.
@@briankennedy1192 “radiosuck,” what a clever pun that presumes to be. I’ll bet that was the Talking Heads original title for the song too. But I wouldn’t want to be presumptuous
I just watched a doc on all the beatles number 1 songs and seeing a young Paul in black and white during his youth from over a half century ago. To see this icon at almost 80 years old still involved and active in music and culture is mind boggling. Not only is Paul a great musician, but he is a great human being. To remain relevant for almost 60 years in this fast paced modern society is truly something to behold. He was a main cog in the British Invasion , and has outlasted stadium classic rock, punk, disco, new wave, hair metal/ 80s pop, grunge, nu metal, gangster rap, 90s boy band /Britney spears era, and now the complete change of the way music is distributed to the public is almost too hard to make sense of. His navigation of all of these changes has been breathtaking to witness. He is a true world treasure
So true-I love how he rattles off all manner of musical styles: from Beck to Massive Attack and to the great James Jameson…even producers like Nigel Goodrich and Rick Rubin. So much respect for artists who champion and welcome younger acts with curiosity and openness. I always thought David Bowie was amazing for that reason as well.
@@sleedeal8010 Yes indeed something we agree on macca the great. .....seeing him a few years ago in full flight was jawdropping.....enough to make a grown man cry....
Paul mentioning how it can be stressful or pressuring to be "P Mac" was an eye opening insight. It's easy to forget he is just a guy with a back catalog of genius. I never thought about the pressure he might feel in all situations to be the genius we all know, even though he might be a bit off that day, or feeling his way through an idea. As musicians we can't be "on" all the time. Going into a new creative situation might be just as nerve-racking for Paul as it is for the person working with him. Due to the praise he gets all day, every day. He might feel he has to live up to a legend that was made for him. Even though he never sanctioned that legend.
This is the best of these videos, because EOB with great sincerity tells Paul how important and loved he is. It's what all his fans feel and think too. It's so important he gets to hear this. And by saying it EOB elevates himself, unlike the other videos where they're trying to act cool and better than Paul. Paul you're loved, and are the Shakespeare of songwriting.
Paul's such a super-cool-happy-love-thing he teaches humanity how to be on the top of their game. Find what you love and share it. Show up and be nice. Tune yourself and have fun. Enjoy all you can, keep creating, keep saying yes to yourself and grow. Since 1963 Paul has taught me infinite things about music, life, and optimism. Everything is learned. I can’t thank you enough Paul, for being yourself, and following your bliss. Life is the best that way. T H A N K Y OU !
Hello Ed! Beautiful to hear! I am a musician and luthier from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I play in a Radiohead tribute band. We are very fanatical of their music! Greetings from Argentina !
Ed is the like the social kid in the quiet group at school, like if Radiohead had a project, he’d present the whole thing as the rest of them just awkwardly stood around
You can really see what his friends are talking about when they say "he's like a young man in an old man's body" and after a while you forget he really isn't a young man, not physically...because he's so forever young in personality & genius.
What great, REAL people you all are! Oona is beautiful! "Maybe I'm amazed" at how Paul is still so darn cute at his age. And of course, Ed, you're handsome as ever. I'm glad you both were decidedly un-British at the end. Love is all you need! Thanks for such a lovely video, and happy, happy birthday to you, Ed!
Thanks you both for this lovely opportunity to see and listen to such great guys! I live in Porto Alegre, BRAZIL, a city in which Paul has sung a lot! We all love him! And hey, EOB, when are you coming here ??? 😍😍
Wow!! This is amazing, Ed!! I saw you guys on your first Radiohead tour of Mexico in 1994, when I was 15, and got to talk to Thom backstage afterwards. Such a cool and so down-to-Earth guy, just like you on here!! Thanks for sharing these moments of your life with us. It's very inspiring to watch you and Paul having this call. Happy belated birthday!!!! :)

What a casual, wonderfull conversation between these two great musicians. Paul is as ever fresh and down to earth as ever, and Ed (along with his daughter) is great as well. I have been an a Paul run lately watching many interviews and trying at home (and with my cover band Suitcase of Grace) to play my bass and sing like him as well.
Oh wow, how freaking cool is this!!! Two of my musical heroes just shootin' the shit! So glad I stumbled upon it! And Ed just seems like a super awesome guy! Very real.
Fantastic! Love it when Ed gets out of fanboy mode to nerd out on bass influences. Paul’s just a dude who has tried, with “some” success, to figure out this music thing. BTW, the recent Sean Lennon interview of Paul is super also.

It can't be a Paul McCartney interview without him explaining how Let It Be came in a dream.
Reminds me of my grandparents, who always make sure to repeat the same story every visit. I guess it's just a thing that comes with age.
Or how Yesterday came in his sleep!
