Scything an area of mixed new grass and matted dead grass

I had skipped mowing this area last season in order to not disturb nesting grassland birds. Whenever I would get to an section where the dead grass was more upright, and would interfere with a full scythe stroke, I would switch and take take several short ones, working with the lay of the dead grass. In sections where the dead grass is flattened to the ground, I just let the blade slide over it, and just cut the green grass above it. Interesting. Would love to get a better birds eye view of the total process, starting with scything and ending with getting them in square bales.
Also, I did see interesting hand balers in other videos, but could not find a place that sells them.

With a hay rake and three-prong fork, this hay mounds well. No need to bale. Fork it into a loft or stack on a pallet with a cover.
