  • On a previous episode, we got this 1974 Toyota Celica up and running of the first time in over 25 years! It ran but made a horrible squealing noise. The water pump was seized in the 18rg engine. In today's video, we install a new water pump, thermostat, and flush the block and then start the car up. Make sure your subscribed so you don't miss more Celica content👍🙏🤟

I had this exact car back in the 90's same color and everything. I remember it being super simple to work on and I loved tooling around in the engine bay. I "over-maintenanced" it just because I liked messing with it.

    My first car in 1983 when I was 16 was a 1974 Celica...Killer little car...wish I kept it.

Oh the joys of being a mechanic, still these rear wheel drives are easier than front wheel ones, specially worst are V6 front wheel drive is a nightmare to work on.

Biggest problem with these, but also one of coolest features is the hood flipping forward. It’s the price of love ig

We had a white 74 when we lived in Tacoma washington in the early 90s just like that. It had a JDM engine in it and ran perfect. Sold it for $1000.

Dang that would be cool to still have! Did it have the 18RG engine? Dual overhead cam?

Hate bolts that stay dry & bake in, but it's so satisfying once you do crack em loose.
Very nice, people underestimate dirty & rusty clapped out cars potential.

I busted mine but a rachet wrench is absolutely superb for Toyota water pumps well worth it. They do this a lot lol. That said though 7 bolts design on a 7mge keeps that sucker on tight with quarter turn feel torque.
I got to get me some gasket paper that is mint af.
Ah yea gotta be careful with Yota / Japanese bolts on thermostat it doesn't hold much torque at all to seal. Quarter turn or so once it feels tight, with a good clean thread.
