Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2-"Father And Son" Scene

- Finally got to see Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, and being that there are going to be people who are now searching for the scene with classic "Father And Son" by the legendary Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, from his classic album Tea For The Tillerman, here is the scene in which the song is played.
You fuckers wanna quit spoiling Infinity War already?! Because I’m gonna disable comments if you don’t, I swear to God I will.
bluelimosine infinity war has been out to the point where spoilers can be discussed
bluelimosine yeah bro... it’s been out for like a month and a half if you haven’t seen it yet then that’s your bad
I’m not the one spoiling shit, Chris Nathaniel.
They should make a song called "Thanos and Dust" for Infinity Warfare
bluelimosine if a movie has been out for nearly 2 months it’s ok to discuss it
Avengers may be a team, but the guardians are family.
Fabian Chumko Well the Avengers fight one time and they don’t talk to each other for years
Yes❤️
So deep think
Damn right
TRUE!!! It's amazing how they managed to create this beautiful connection in just a movie. In GOTG 2 they already are a family, closer tied than the Avengers. That's why I consider the first movie a masterpiece.
''It's beautiful!''
''It is. And so are you.... On the inside.''
Drax is basically the older brother who teases you and loves you nonetheless.
But it fits. They are two different species, and he grew up with a different beautystandard. Also when he said his father told him about impregnating his mother and Quill being grossed out by it, but it's actually the beginning of new life, why wouldn't it be beautifull? Just because modern humans don't like to talk about sex doesn't mean other cultures share the same view. This shows they are still all aliens, all different, but still family.
Drax is like the groups dad lol
@@MoviePolitik nah Peter and Gamora are the mom and pops, Sandy's older brother analysis is quite spot on.
Groot thinks so.
I don’t think Drax even knows what teasing is. He just has no filter when he speaks his mind and takes everything literally. This was him realIzing that words can have two meanings.
"He didn't let us down after all, Captain."
"No, he did not. He did not." :')
*pumps chest twice*
"Fare thee well, old friend."
*pumps chest twice*
docdave15 Yondu Udonta I will see you in the stars ( pumps chest 2 times)
LAAAAAWWWWWW!!!
I totally didn't see that until now... *breaks down and cries*
Sean Gunn's yell gets me every time. This is easily one of the saddest/most cathartic moment in any Marvel movie. The amount of heart in the GOTG movies is the reason a relatively obscure comic team has been such a hit in theaters. Humor and heart go a long way.
Nathan Chiles Is there a gif of that scene somewhere? Does anyone have that gif? I’ve been looking forever but found nothing
@@Demaad I haven't found one either. Its sooo good. Yells in movies normally come off as cheesy, this didn't. Gunn played it so well. And "Father and Son" was the perfect accompaniment.
It’s so real, though. Kraglin has always kind of been a joke character and clearly loved Yondu as some kind of mentor figure so to see him finally get his due would make any real person do that. It’s raw and real.
I have watched this scene countless times and that yell and his watery eyes make me cry every single time
The entire funeral scene is so emotional but his yell really makes me tear up.
Saddest scene of any marvel movie
john callahan definitely the most moving x
john callahan right up there with quicksilver and Logan
Jenocy Aguado logan isnt a marvel movie. Quicksilver was a character no one cared for because he was brand new and the movie wouldnt have been affected at all without him. He played no major roll
Cyrus-7 yeah I know that but Logan was one of the saddest movies I've ever seen and should have been part of the marvel family
Cyrus-7 really no one was affected by the death of the only reason hawkeye and the kid is alive
3:55 Want to know one thing I've noticed? Rocket is the ONLY guardian who cries. Sure, all the others tear up, but Rocket is the only one where tears actually stream. Hell, he cries in BOTH movies! He tries to be the most unfeeling and cruel, but he's actually the most emotional unstable of the group.
Makes sense, all things considered.
Hey what's up , danger Endgame spoiler: he tells Thor specifically how painful it was and he calls them the only family he had.
Two words man: tough life.
I understand him.
Actually, Peter cries while he’s giving his eulogy. You can see the tears streaming down his face when he’s saying “I had a pretty cool dad.”
Yeah if u watched the movie Yondu confronted him and said the same thing
"He didn't push them away... even though he yelled at them.. and was mean... and stole batteries he didn't need." What a heart-wrenching line, especially followed by Peter's realization that Rocket is talking about himself, and answering "Of course not."
He's also talking about yondu because Star-Lord was considered a battery by Ego.
@@dragoninthewest1 Oh my god.
They really are the same person
peters realization that rocket is talking about himself breaks ny heart Everytime
Probably best part of the scene
This movie was surprisingly emotional. There were so many good scenes and stories throughout this film. I really hope Marvel makes more like it.
Kaipyro67ALT yeah iron man will die in infinite war 😂
Oppsss, not yet!
Erza Nugroho how wrong you were
And now they messed up and fired James Gunn.

Extreme Cheeky wtf

Kartissa agreed
gets me every time
When Kraglin see the other ravager ships and the emotion he displays, that is just amazing
David Meh Is there a gif of that scene somewhere? Does anyone have that gif? I’ve been looking forever but found nothing

I suggest you download the video and create your own gif from an app as sadly not alot of the gifs we want are never created.

David Meh same bruh
The exile lifted. The wandering brother welcomed home in a dazzling blaze of light. For the love of his son, he endured his banishment, but kept the code. And so we light the starways in his honor.
"He didn't let us down after all, captain..."
"No, he did not, son... he did NOT."
You can really FEEL the pain
This scene was fantastic, but there's a moment that really flies under the radar: When Gamora hands Baby Groot to Drax, look at Drax's face. You actually see, for the briefest of moments, flashes of the father he once was.
You can tell he has held a baby before, he knows what he's doing.
Well spotted. I always liked the way Groot reached out for Drax, after being often annoyed and occasionally intimidated by him earlier in the film - in spite of it all, when he wants to sleep he feels safest with Drax.
Bro I never even noticed that that’s so sad
Couple years ago, i knew nothing of the guardians. Now, I love them so much.
PowerPro I was first introduced after UMVC3. And I'm glad I did because it got me into these movies. People say this sucked in comparison to the first but I don't care.
I grew up mostly on DC comics but seeing these Marvel movies?
I'm now a devoted fan!
The team is introduced with the captains (including the crystal guy and Yondu) in Yondu's funeral.
Ditto. I had never heard of them. Now they are the best thing/team in the Marvel Universe. In my opinion.

At the moment 2:32
Rocket said ''stole the battery''. Yes he stole the battery but Yondu stole the battery too.
In the movie, Ego called Star Lord ''Battery''.
And many years ago Yondu stole the star lord from Ego.
So this rocket line is more emotional than everybody think.
Sorry for my bad English.
The ohama great observation man
Hmm. Make sense!
The ohama Oh, so the battery was a metaphor in his case. He didn't need to steal Peter, but he chose to.
mindblown!! thanks omaha
You’re English is perfect.
Who knew "and he stole batteries he didn't need" would be a line that sets off the waterworks?
orangeapples As well as make us laugh. "He was a thief who was betrayed too... Why did I not notice!? X'D "
there’s a bit of rocket in all of us, i think. we’ve all done brainless, hurtful things to push people away but at the end of the day, we just want to be loved.
Waterworks? What are you talking about? Did someone cry? Wasn’t me. Why did someone say I cried? Lies!! I didn’t cry at all. My contact lenses are just irritating me.
Well yeah it's him apologizing quietly without trying to draw too much attention to it.
How do you make a movie featuring rubber-skinned aliens, a talking tree, a wisecracking anthro-racoon... into something poignant and beautiful?
James Gunn: "THIS is how."
RIP Mary Poppins
Y'ALL
Sean Gunn (James Gunn's brother) is the guy that makes me cry everytime
(For those who dont know, that is Kraglin, the guy who cries and beats his chest)
Ryoka1 his reaction to them turning up and giving yondu a ravager funeral was what got me too
I was just thinking the same thing. That reaction shot might be the best piece of acting in an extremely very well-acted movie.
its so strangely emotional....the pride he shows for his fallen mentor and the emotion he captures in just those few seconds is outstanding
It looks so genuine when an actor uses the "ugly face" to cry. Even more bonus points when snot is running down their nose.
Thats how X23 got me to cry when Logan died.
Fuk. I need tissues now.
i agree it may be the best piece of acting iv seen in the MCU not that any of the acting is bad in marvel films this piece just feels emotional and real, the sadness you can see kraglin feels at yondus death thinking yondu will never hear the horns of freedom and the colors of Ogord will never flash over his grave then when the ships appear to honor him in the ravager way sending him to the ravager afterlife, when kraglin sees the colours flash and realizes that yondu is getting a ravager funeral that he will enter the ravager afterlife the tears the scream the salute it was perfect
This ending....I choked up it was unexpectedly emotional for me....
loved it
Same here. Made me miss my dad. Cause he wasn't my real dad. But I knew he had us.
RIP, Yondu! :( 😭

RIP,
This scene hit me like no other on MCU.
This scene is just a masterpiece.
The song
Gun's Yelling
Rockets tears
Everything
Jesus seeing Rocket so upset over the death of his friend is truly heartbreaking 😢 Well played James Gunn
And he only got to really know Yondu towards the end of his life.
His race are called Centaurians. But damn. I wish we'd seen more of Yondu through Infinity War and Vol.3
There's also the fact that Rocket's revelation was delivered to him *by* Yondu, who spelled it out that he understands Rocket better than Rocket realizes because Yondu recognizes everything Rocket's been through because he went through the same damn thing. In Yondu's words, "I know who you are, boy - BECAUSE YOU'RE ME."
And with that in mind, seeing all of Yondu's old friends come back to see him off despite the things that drove them apart helps Rocket to see the truth. He's sad to lose his friend, overjoyed to see that friend honored by his old comrades, and overwhelmed by the revelation that yeah, despite arguments and anger, there are people who genuinely care about him.
@@MindNumbingIncIn the more classic guardians comics yondu is Centaurian. They retconned it in the movies and now he's Kree.
@@godofawesum223 nah
how does james gunn end a movie? on a long close up of a wisecracking cgi racoon as he comes to grips that he is loved and won't be abandoned or hurt by his friends like the people who experimented on him. and his bitter cynical worldview bricked walls come tumbling down. and its not given so much as a joke or wink and somehow manages to work perfectly as an endcap to the films entire theme of finding an unlikely.
that's how james gunn ends his movie.
And now he's gone

The day I saw this film around the time it opened.

I felt already sad enough because of Yondu’s sacrifice, but hearing Cat Stevens made me burst into tears...

That Friday I went to watch this because I had a commitment to be at Thursday.
I went to this film to hopefully laugh.

Then came the rest of the week.
Man I love this movie. That moment when Kragnel cries out gets me every time.
Matthew Bane kraglin
Same here. I was starting to get choked up at the start of it all. But seeing his reaction to the other Ravagers paying their respects? I lost it right there.
Matthew Bane Yondu was Kraglin's father too, so for Kraglin to finally see his Father get the respect he deserved was huge.
The music, the fireworks and what Rocket and Gamora say are what get me

People love Kraglin in this scene because it speaks to his loyalty. Even when things got really bad and the crew were being killed, he stayed loyal. Everyone wants that person in their life.
1:39 seeing Kraglin break down kills me everytime I see it. Phenominal work from all actors and actresses involved!

Kraglin & Quill : 😭😭😭
Iron Man - Raza and the Ten Rings. Terrorists.
The Incredible Hulk - The doctors mentioned in the opening clippet. Background characters.
Iron Man 2 - Vanko's father. Traitor to the country.
Thor - Loki. Not dead.
Captain America: The First Avenger - Bucky Barnes. Came back.
The Avengers - Coulson. Appeared in a couple scenes and came back to life.
Iron Man 3 - Pepper Potts. Fake-out death.
Thor: The Dark World - Frigga. Pretty said but undeveloped.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - There was probably a janitor on board the Helicarriers that blew up.
Guardians of the Galaxy - Quill's mom. Knew her for one scene. Kinda sad.
Avengers: Age of Ultron - Quicksilver. Sad-ish.
Ant-Man: Ant-ony. Generic heroes pet. Didn't care that much.
Captain America: Civil War - Tony Stark's parents. Depressing but background characters.
Doctor Strange - The Ancient One. Not enough background and relationship with the main character explored enough to be really sad.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Yondu Udonta. Complex, likeable and cool character already well-developed and history with the main character died a heroic and personal death felt by the audience and the characters.

James Gunn masterfully used a song to express character and emotion. This scene makes me cry because of how much Yondu cared for and loved Peter even when he got angry with Quill because Yondu practically raised the guy. It reminds me so much of my relationship with my father and no matter what comes in our way his love for his son (and my sister) exceeds so many things.
About 3 months ago, my step-dad tragically passed away. This scene now resonates my loss. I knew him for about 20 years.
Sorry for your loss

And now he has the chance to be a real father, like the one he just lost.
Bartholomew Thundercat III and now I know how Yondu felt.
Gotg 2 may not be my favorite MCU movie but THIS is my all time favorite moment in the MCU... Makes me tear up every time.
That five second moment from Kraglin is the most real and raw expression of emotion I’ve ever seen in a film. That moment alone makes me cry every time I see this movie without fail.
".....and he stole batteries he didn't need" ...damn rocket damn... 😢
Only MCU movie that made me cry manly tears.

Do you mean, cry?
I love this song, is a perfect song for any father's or father figures on their funerals
James Tafoya not gonna lie, this scene is kinda what made me realize that eventually, my dad will die. It tugs so many emotions. >.
The best damn funeral ever, for the best damn guy. *Beats chest twice*
This is the one time I legitimately had to stop myself from crying while watching any movie. I only teared up in episode 7, I was sad at the end of Terminator 2, but this movie hit me hard. I loved Yondu. I thought he was so awesome and Michael Rooker's performance added to that. But when this happend I had to stop my self from crying my eyes out. You will be Missed Yondu. And I hope we see some flashbacks in infinity war.
G-Zilla 1954 “he may have been your father, but he wasn’t your daddy” that got me right in the heart
Not scene but full yondu we can see in infinity war coz of soul stone
What is episode 7?

But there wasnt a sad moment in episode 7?
this is why GOTG vol 2 one of the best superhero movie
I don't normally cry at these kind of things but rocket saying "and he stole batteries he didn't need" made me cry like a baby
That scream is so full of emotion

This was one of the most unexpectedly emotional scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie. So good
There's 4 things in this scene that made me cry when I first saw this scene
1. All of Yondu's ravenger buddies showing up and having a light show.
2. Sean Gunn's performance.
3. The music
4. Rocket shedding a tear at the end. His development in this movie was great and the connection with Yondu that he made is what made this scene so sad, and beautiful to me. Kudos to James Gunn.
I find it amazing that a movie that had me laughing so hard throughout could send me out of the theater choked up over the death of a character I absolutely hated in the first movie. Jeeze the people at Marvel are so good at character development, writing, acting and directing...

Oh god why am I crying so much, it's like the fifth time I've seen this.
I love the parallels of fatherhood being passed from Yondu and Quill to Quill and Groot at the beginning of the scene, also between the friendship of Yondu and his ravagers passing to Rocket and the Guardians. Such a good scene.
Such a beautiful scene. Disney is scum for taking a real GotG 3 away from us.
Ikr
I dno maybe Gunn should have deleted his tweets or just, you know, not have tweeted that horrible shit out in the first place so horrible people couldn't exploit them and leave Disney in an impossible position
Crazy4Comics It's part of his humour, it's what lead to his success today. Have you not noticed all the dirty, adult humour within the movie? People can change too you know, he's not the same as he was having when he tweeted that. Plus those sort of jokes were much more accepted back when he made those tweets, before the world went super PC and you could make a joke that offended people. The people that "exposed" Gunn didn't really like him, and they searched through all parts of his social media to bring him down. He's not the first that it's happened to and he won't be the last, it happens all the time. People expect celebrities to be next to perfection sometimes.
@@marshall8658 I like a bit of adult humour and I love the humour in the GOTG movies & Super but at the end of the day those were terrible "jokes" and not in good taste either. Obviously I know people can change and that James Gunn isn't like that anymore but that's why I said maybe he should've deleted those tweets so they couldn't be used against him when that's not him anymore.
@@HunterOfGremlins98 James Gunn's tweets were pretty weak humor. I shit darker than those jokes in public. Metaphorically. Which means I can discuss darker jokes with friends. But Gunn was already becoming known at the time and should have known to either keep his mouth shut so everyone didn't whine or just quit. I'm sure the guy has the same humor but now he knows not to express himself to the public since being dark and self aware is bad.

Pure emotion from start to finish. Every aspect of this scene works. From how one of the most emotional songs of all time is the soundtrack to this closer (and works well with the movie’s theme), to the Ravengers saluting Yondu even though they humiliated and rebuked him before, to Rocket crying in the very final shot. I totally forgot about this song and then saw it in this movie and just kept listening to Tea for the Tillerman from time to time after this. Beautifully placed in the movie.
One of the most beautiful scenes ever put to film.. Comic movie or not.. To anyone who has lost a parent this scene makes you feel things.. It's a true testament to how talented a writer/director james gunn really is. ❤❤❤

I'm not a big Marvel movie person; but I lost my father this week and I think I needed to see this one more time. This scene overachieves in the way that made the first two GOTG films really special

I find Rocket's andKraglin's reaction to be the centers of the scene because they express importance of Yondu as am individual.
I love this scene because how much Yondu cared for him forever in the end, he uses his heart to fly his arrow...even through space. (Forms arrow at the end, his spirit)
Aww I love Baby Groot sitting on Peter's leg and listen to the music together. Lovely moment. Peter has become to Baby Groot and Rocket what Yondu was to him a father figure
