      @@RobertsonIsland They werent popular until the economic crash finally made people shift not because they loved the nazi party but because a lot of people were desperate and this lead to the nazi being viewed as someone different. Despite all of thet Hidenburgh still was elected and only through secret threats and pressure from the public did he finally give people power so he is not wrong when he said they took power by oppertunity and with force.

      Worthiness comes and goes depending on the situation. Remember Thor WAS worthy, then he wasn't then he was again. I think Cap before he found out about what Bucky did to Tony's parents and didn't tell him, he lost his worthiness. And it was when Cap left that message and told Tony that not only did he lie but WHY he did it, he regained his "worthiness."

    John Walker is...not a bad person, to me.
    Let me explain myself, first:
    John Walker is a good soldier. His accomplishments confirm it, hands down. He has THREE Medal of Honors, he has a wife that loves him and he loves her, and a solid friend to rely (or relied) upon.
    He also complains to his friends of the things they've done, things no one WANTS to know in Afghanistan, the reasons that earned him those medals.
    As Captain America, the way the government wants him to be, he is nothing but a replacement of Steve Rogers. Steve was one of the best martial artists in the MCU. John Walker strikes me as a good soldier, and soldiers uses guns. John Walker's main asset in a fight thus far has been the shield. Without it he's been repeatedly curb-stomped by everyone. He feels inadequate to the role, and the immense stress and pressure EVERYONE puts on him is affecting him, that's why he takes the serum. It's easier to be strong with the super-soldier serum.
    But what does Eriskine tells us here? The Serum amplifies everything, both good and bad. Steve Rogers was essentialy an exemplary good being with a weak physique. John Walker is a good soldier, not-so-much of a good man as Rogers was.

      @@razorxlvii4852 Just as described by the great scientist Abraham Erskine, good becomes great, bad becomes worse. John Walker is not all bad but he's not great either. He's somewhere in between then I suppose. He's gone through some sh*t and might have undisclosed PTSD. I am presuming aside from his physical capabilities, his PTSD was also amplified by the serum. Making him extremely unstable. That would mean he's a walking and ticking time bomb. Pretty dangerous for someone like that to be walking free eh? Kinda like Bucky when he's still the winter soldier or when he's struggling between that persona and plain old Bucky in civil war, before the wakandans rehabilitated him. I mean as long as he's(John Walker) still in control of himself and there's people out there far greater than his abilities to keep him in check i guess.

    • @0axis771
      @0axis771 3 роки тому +8

      John's greatest weakness is that he rejects himself. He has a lot of self-loathing due to the horrible things he did for his country. Becoming Captain America was what he saw was his big break. He wanted to leave behind his past as a soldier and become Captain America. Becoming Captain America meant he'd finally do something good, but that was his mistake. Because he made the moniker be what defines his beliefs of good, and not himself.

    • @joejoejoe532
      @joejoejoe532 3 роки тому +7

      @@0axis771 I think that's what could make him really compelling going forward as US Agent.
      He ends the series with a sort of mutual understanding with Sam and Bucky, even if they are far from friends, and accepts that the mantle of Cap is one he is not meant for.
      But because the serum amplifies both the great and the dark, the internal conflict in John Walker will progressively intensify: he will constantly be forced to make difficult choices, and every time, there's no telling whether he will make the right one. This pressure will build until he inevitably reaches a nexus point where he must decide for himself what principle he will follow.
      He is the kind of man that is too volatile to ever truly count on, BUT we genuinely want him to be better. We WANT to like and respect him, but he hasn't yet earned it.
      Now with Valentina on one side fueling his worst nature and Sam's Captain America on the other side reminding him of his better nature, John Walker will be the proxy through which the ideals of Cap will continue to be tested by a world that still contains a good deal of cynicism and alienation.

    Thats exactly the point the Red Skull is a reflection of his inner Evil. In a sense it was always his true appearance, even before the serum. That is how he really was. Demonic, evil. The serum simply let his true self out. He was bad, and became worse. He became himself. Even with it not ready. He wants power for himself, he is willing to sacrifice others for himself.
    Whereas a good man, has doubt, has compassion these are human traits, thus his humanity comes to the surface. He becomes more human, a stronger human, because his humanity is firm. He cares for others, he doubts himself, he wants to do better, he is willing to sacrifice himself for others.
    I think thats a good lesson to the power hungry.

    I'm surprised this video doesn't have enough views. This right here is Dr. Eriskine pointing out why Steve is chosen for this project. Not because he is the smartest, handsome, or skillful. But because he has a tremendously good heart. And that is something that is very rare. A lot of "good" people will usually step on others for their own benefit. Because of greed, glory, or just out of desperation. But not him. He puts his life to save all others, no matter the cost. He just wants for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE to be okay. Even if it hurts him. This is why he is Captain America.
