Thank for the video It gave me the idea to make one for ice fishing only mod I made to it besides not mounting it on the boat was I cut the 1 1/4" piece in half and put a tee in there and made some legs for it to sit over the ice hole
Thank you for the easy to follow video. I will begin my build this week as I install my new unit! I will say this is considerably less expenisive than the poles they sell in Basspro for $600!
I made one like yours but with 1” and 1/2” pvc and a c ball ram mount. It’s pretty wimpy. I’m going to do yours next time . Thanks for the time and effort to show us how to do it.
Thanks, nice build. I think I will see about getting stainless ubolts and putting plastic tubing on the ubolt instead of the chunk of rubber to clean it some more. It's always good to have options for changing things that fit your application. I need one for the rear starboard side, and this looks awesome. 👌
PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) is white, while ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is usually black or grey. ABS piping is typically stronger than PVC and is more resistant to thermal shock from extreme cold, but it may warp if left exposed to direct sunlight. This makes ABS well-suited for underground pipe applications. Cons are warping in the sun, it is heavier, and more expensive than a rattle can of your favorite color…
I mount mine on the Lund sporttrak mount with a d size screw down ram ball. I think with a bass boat you would have to mount the ball on a rail or screw it to the gunnel. Another option would be one of the bicycle clamp type mount that hangs out over the gunnel. For the transducer cord I have used Velcro wraps and now I am currently using custom built bungee cord to allow for less twisting restriction.
Just completed this build yesterday, Thank you for taking the time to detail out the steps for this.
No problem, glad it worked well for you

Thanks, and yes absolutely, constant improvement is DIY at its best. Let me know how the mods work for you!
How does it hold up in motion like trolling soeeds
Are the 3" bolts quarter inch or 5/16"..I assume they are 5/16 or I would need 1/4" lock nuts.
Yes you are right, I made an error on the sizing of those. Either way works
This is a great design..I have made two so far.
@@bobtomlinson8247 Happy to hear they are working well for you!
Dont they make black pvc?

does this mount on a typical bass boat ,not aluminum. plus how do you run the cables down to the transducer ?

whats it look like on boat
You can buy a new pole with everything you need for $200 and thats just what the ram mount costs
Where??
