Of course, there will be flooding when the road is above the residential building, but I don't think there will be an erosion.

The coastal highway which cuts across 8 states and affects 75 million Nigerians will boost travel, tourism, business, create new towns, settlement centers, industrial zones, marine businesses etc...during times of economic depression, this is the type of gigantic infrastructural projects that you need to kickstart a depressed economy. Kudos to federal government for good thinking and good planning 👍👍

The road is 10 lane,5 on each side l think not 4.There is underground drainage on the road, which means most of the water will be channel away from the area instead of causing flooding....

There used to be “public” (government-owned) beaches back in the day going back to our parents era - and they were largely a mess.
Bar beach (were Eko Atlantic presently is) was one but it was rowdy with lots of drugs, weed smokers and dealers, prostitutes (in fact people fornicating at night), church and spiritual worshippers, etc. - until erosion practically consumed the entire beach. There were also public beaches in the early days of Lekki (the Sunsplash Concerts used to be held there), but though the government collected gate/entrances fees, the beaches were dirty, unkempt and sometimes even unsafe when Agberos show up.
While it’s good there are still a few public beaches left (eg, Tarkwa Bay), PRIVATE investment in beaches in Lagos cleaned up the beaches, installed generally world-class facilities and made them much safer.

Nice video. According to information on one of the video on coastal highway, the road you are standing on is for going towards Calabar while the original road at the back of Landmark is for coming onwards Victoria Island from Calabar.

Thank you for your time and comment the initial design of the road is to pass in front of landmark and the redesign plan is passing through the back of landmark.

The coastal highway directly connects 8 coastal states from Lagos to Calabar but it also connects at some points (E1, E2, E3, E4, E5) to South East and northern Nigeria, essentially connects the entire country. Both presidents Jonathan and Buhari wanted to execute it but could not source the funds. Kudos to President Tinubu for executing this project 👍👍

The size of the road was reduced to eight lanes at the first section of the project in order to save Landmark properties and other important buildings along that corridor. The road will be expanded to ten lanes with railway space in the middle from Jakande Lekki, Lagos.

Did government say the goal is to have a public beach at the end of the day? We pray that God keeps us alive to enjoy the road. The fact that they just decided to realign the road due to buried cable makes me believe basic due process was ignored.

It does not mean basic due process was ignored. This is a project that has been designed and redesigned since early 2000, so a lot of developments have come up over the years. Also, some of the ICT cables may be recent developments in the last 5 years or so

Anytime you construct a road in existing communities, you run into complications. You have to be flexible to get the project through. No matter what routes are used, old or new, you will encounter businesses and communities...when you move it left, affected people will cry, when you move it right, affected people will cry...those are the real challenges
