What’s your favorite Group C car of all time?
Mazda 787b
Jag because the livery is beautiful
Sauber C11
Sauber c9
962 baby
My favorites are Peugeot 905 and Nissan R92CP. It's interesting to note that except for the Porsche 962, all of these cars are in Gran Turismo 4.
Definitely! The Peugeot had an awful shifting lag, though.
And except Peugeot 905, all cars are here in GT7.
@@Krankdatbich, yeah. GT7 needs more Group C machines!
@nathanielcruz6675 Apart from the horrible sound in GT4. Thank goodness there is a fan-made Spec 2 version, which improves a lot of things in the game, including the sound of the cars.
Gran Turismo 6 on Spec 2 mod also enhanced the car sound a lot more.
In real life? It's the 905 and it's not even close. The fact that it didn't destroyed every car here in the corners shows how unrealistic these mods are, and the 787B is much slower than everything except perhaps the 962C given that's the mid 80's version.
To put into perspective. In 1989, the Sauber C9 did a 3:15.040 to take pole, pretty impressive, while the Jaguar XJR-9 did a 3:18.350, some 3 seconds faster than in 1988. In 1992, the 905B did a 3:21.209, just 6 seconds slower than the C9 despite having to deal with the 2 chicanes.
It's the 905 and it's not even close.
Yeah, the 905 in its final version was a monster. Basically killed Group C
Yeah ur right.
the C11 was faster in corners than the C9?
What about c11
787b would be the slowest
It's exciting to see them reach their top speed on Mulsanne. I'm curious to know how fast the Nissan R90CK that Mark Blundell took pole position in 1990 would be without chicanes.
Damn the 787B is VERY unrealistic in AC, in real life it was nowhere compared to the competition, it only won in 91 out of sheer luck
It's real luck was not being nerfed when the rest of the old Group C cars did get nerfed.
That's not true at all, on race pace at Le Mans they were some of the fastest cars on the track, outpaced only by the Saubers. What they lacked was qualifying pace, but yet, unlike every other team and car, the set-up the Mazdas ran during qualifying was very similar to the set-up they ran during the race, which meant they didn't suffer that same significant reduction in pace during the race that the other teams and cars suffered.
It goes without saying, that although Mazda never won a Championship with either the 767, 767b, 787, nor 787b, the cars, across all the seasons they competed in across all Championships they competed in, always finished the seasons in the top half of the grids. Even for individual races, they finished almost all of the races they competed in in the top half of the grid aswell, consistently finishing between 7th and 15th, out of grids that consistently had 30 to 40 cars competing, sometimes more. They were faster and more reliable than most cars on the grid, they just weren't the fastest nor most reliable. Poor team management also had an impact on their on track performance.
It wasn't luck, it was the performance of the drivers, the real monsters
@@Lnklime its was luck, in 91 season porsche, jaguar and mercedes had a lot reliability problem And during the Le Mans 91 race, there was a huge battle between the Porsches, the Jaguars and the Mercedes, Mazda has won thanks to this reliability and lightness.
@CDM_Short That is a factor that cannot be denied but it also does not leave aside the fact of the good driving and team work to take that mediocre car to the finish
My favourites of these are of course Asuna Yuuki's Peugeot 905 and Porsche 962.
Some cars are lacking , Nissan R92CP , Toyota Minolta , Aston Martin AMR1 and Nissan R89C .
A total of 0 le mans wins between those, they're on a different level
@@epicmotorsport856 Doesn't mean they aren't iconic. The power of Gran Turismo
@@epicmotorsport856 yes but the test is which is the fastest Group C car in 1 lap
and winning lemans is more then just speed. Its reliability, drivers and luck
so for a 1 lap test, it would be nice to see the other iconic group C cars aswell.
The cars he named defenitely have a chance to win a sprint race.
And the cars he named are available for AC. Especially the Minolta is an absolute beast.
@@max.racing Toyota Minolta is actually the fastest group C car ever realized .
@@epicmotorsport856Nissan was VERY successful! LeMans isn't the only race ya know.
I think I got a suggestion, how about Porsche group c and gt1 (962 and Dauer 962) vs Toyota group c and gt1 (ts010 and ts020)?
I mean both manufacturers have group c and gt1 cars
Why not just use rhe porsche 911 gt1 instead of the dauer 962, would make more sense imo
Eagle Mk.3 vs TS010
I mean the gt1 is slower than the Dauer
@@Ilovecars-wd6xu sure but those are the official gt1 cars of each brand, the dauer 962 is a repurposed group c car, you also wouldnt put the 919 evo up against the ts050 just because its faster than the normal 919
Ladies and gentlemen - IT'S JAGUAR TIME!
I have an idea:
Unrestricted F1: close cockpit vs open cockpit
Red Bull 2010 (Red Bull X1)
PEAK!!! motorsport right here!
the era of beautiful cars.
Commentator time! (I haven't done this for a long time)
GROUP C IS ON THE GO FOR THIS RACE AT LE MANS!
Peugeot is having a nice lead but Jaguar is stealing the position from Mazda! Jaguar almost went over the line behind Peugeot
That Jaguar snap was incredible a nice slip with Porsche and a bit of a lose end from Mercedes.
Porsche is falling behind with Mercedes is threatening it and the Jaguar and Mazda is still fighting.
1:04 Here come the long straight for the speed! Some Group C car is having a disadvantage.
1:25 Mercedes is catching up Porsche and then he went for it! and also Mazda is under threat with a faster Mercedes!
1:40 Jaguar! is taking away the pole position from Peugeot and Porsche! challange the Mazda with an overtake
1:55 Woah!! Mercedes!
2:04 They all make it to Mulsanne corner Jaguar is pulling away but Peugeot is taking back from the German! French fans are happy to see that overtake
2:32 Look at that battle between the German and Japanese car manufactures!
2:42 Here comes the Peugeot! and no! Jaguar closed their doors!
2:59 And again!! Peugeot!
3:20 Mazda took the podium away from Mercedes and now Peugeot is under threat.
3:37 here at the chicane before the finish line
Jaguar takes the checkquered flag!
What a joy to watch
That sauber is a ballistic missile down the straight but that Peugeot 905 had rapid acceleration
Didn’t know that Peugeot one can pull off a good start
Newbie here. What game/sim platform is this? Looks fantastic. Thanks.
Assetto corsa
It would have been nice to have seen the WM P88 and Toyota TS010 in the comparison.
Good dynamic video, I understand that it is a game trying to simulate but very far from reality, first pinto the Mazda was a mediocre ciche in terms of pace It was even slower than the Porsche 962c that version is the 87, the jaguar not even close to beat the Mercedes, I have researched much of the groups c as in their qualifying laps and the Mercedes were on average 3 seconds faster than the jaguar, yes the Peugeot 905 was a complete beast in other circuits it took almost 7 seconds to the c9, but understanding that in the video was not the chicane you can understand the parity, but in the end the answer to the realistic video of which is the fastest group c, is the Peugeot 905 by far, the Mercedes C9 second, third the Jaguar XJR-9, fourth the Porsche 962C and last the Mazda 787B, that is the correct answer despite the video, that was the reality.
They forgot about the Nissan R90CK that set the le Sarth record in 91. BTW that record remained until a Porsche 919 (second gen turbo) broke it in 2015
I was SO happy to see the Jag win.
Make a vídeo about the Alfa Romeo SE 048SP
I love the Mercedes C9 but I like the C11 a bit more
Easy. It's the 905 evo 2
For a moment I though 962 is a 6 wheeler with that placement of car number on the side lol
This video likes familiar like my favorite vid “What is the fastest GROUP B car of all time”
Will you do a similar thing at like 3 laps of Sebring or Daytona with IMSA GTPs and GTO class cars, same with group 5 at lemans, and the a mix of all of the above classes at some of the iconic tracks, or tracks they never got to run at?
should have done 1989 le mans imo, less safe, more accurate to group C time period, and final version with no chicanes. But idm modern le mans tbh.
That jaguar is fast.
Different engines are the best part of Group C. Turbo Flat 6 , NA V12, Turbo V8, NA 4 Rotor, NA V10s etc. Even though I never lived through the Group C era, I favor this over teams mostly using muffled Turbo V6s in Hypercar.
There's good variety in Hypercar too: Porsche use a 4.6 twin turbo V8, BMW a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8, Caddy a 5.5 naturally aspirated V8 and now Aston are arriving with a 6.5 V12.
@Extra-dg7uv I know that. I said "mostly" Turbo V6s cuz I knew there are some Turbo V8s and more here and there, I just didn't like the fact Turbo V6s are predominant. Especially F1
What about the Nissan R92CP?
Never raced there, but only in JSPC (All-Japan Sports Prototype Championship).
Why does this guy never use the c11, it was several hundred kgs lighter, and several seconds per lap faster, not to mention the fact that it was projected to be faster in a straight line than the c9, had podiums in 1991, against the jag xj14's and Peugeot's while weighing several kgs more due to ballast penalties for falling afoul of the 3.5 litre regs
I wonder the same thing about other cars like the Audi R8, using the restricted 2005 version instead of the much faster 2001-2002 version.
i dont think AC is a very realistic sim for these cars
Mercedes C9 Sauber and Mazda 787b two of them are my only favourite Group C race cars, But the Mercedes C9 Sauber is one of my most favourite group C race car in all time also the C9 Sauber win the Le Mans in 1989 also i draw the Mercedes C9 Sauber. Also i love bloody sound of German V8 engine of the C9 Sauber 🔥
And C11 ?
Entry from toyota maybe? I fon't know if i mix this up but I heard the Eagle mk3 is fast
Lola T92?
Never won Le Mans
Even before watching this, where is c11, its an improved car!
Nissan R92?
C11
placement order in reality:
1st Peugeot 905B
2nd Sauber Mercedes C9
3rd Jaguar XJR-9
4th Porsche 962C
5th Mazda 787B
nice. whatever happened to Jaguar? smh
Pure visceral uncompromised cutting edge fast as possible race cars of their time (in a straight line), much like F1 of 2003-2005, have a set of rules and make cutting edge on the edge race cars as pure and as fast as possible with the technology available and yet somehow Group C along with F1 of the time i specified the cars just looks and sounds correct, goes like unimaginable acceleration and top speed for a circuit racing vehicle of their times, nowadays Motorsports is just a joke, F1, Le Man 'Hypercars', all follow a set of rules and regulations where there isnt imagination, without this raw wow factor, but whatever its hard to explain but these cars are just so right in ao many ways.
No clue how the jag won with faster cars behind it, namely the c11 and the Peugeot 905, a bit ridiculous.
In reality I am pretty sure 905 > C9 > XJR-9 = 962 > 787b
I agree about the 905. That car had much better aerodynamics compared to the previous Group C cars. The Peugeot 905 and Toyota TS010 would possibly be the fastest Group C cars on most circuits.
The C11 was faster than the C9
787B all day with that screaming rotary......this made my day🎉🎉
IRL the Peugeot would be the fastest, and the Mazda the slowest
Wait Peugeot 905? Oh shoot I accidentally asked where is the Peugeot instead of the bone crusher Toyota ts010😂
You should include GTP next time
GTP is slightly different to Group C, they raced in America
