I owned a pair of V2 for a year and sold them for a pair of Phi. Well, the Phi have been replaced by a pair of Final D8000 Pro. I only regret not getting the Final sooner. The Diana are wonky sounding and so sterile compared to them. I can’t imagine TC is that much better and according to reviews; it’s not.
The TC was not good, I prefer the PHI, I do not agree, they sound sterile, at all the equipment will play a big role. What were you running at on out of curiosity?
@@ConvinceMeAudio Thanks for replying. My rig with the V2/Phi was a Matrix Element M DAC/streamer and the XI Audio Broadway balanced. I replaced the Matrix with the matching XI K DAC (R2R) hoping for more improvements. Thankfully that rig makes my Final and Arya SE sing! The Diana; while it has its strengths they sound too flat for my tastes.
@@jpined14 very interesting, I’ve not reviewed those two units yet so I can’t judge but at least the headphones you have now, are making you happier Preference is key
@@ConvinceMeAudio Yeah, I don’t believe I under fed them. I still think they’re the best built headphones around and I also had a complete JPS Labs loom to go along with them. I’ve yet to try the 1266 or Susvara though. I suspect they’d be both the perfect complementary cans for my favorite genres of jazz and electronic. I’m looking forward to the Diana Closed Back and whenever Hifiman makes a higher sensitivity Susvara. Needless to say; thanks for the the great reviews.
@@jpined14 I agree, I don’t think you underfed it, but synergy plays a big role, 1266 and SUS are fantastic companions to each other. Hopefully at a show you get to try them it’s worth a listen

@@Mosamania honestly a solid chain will serve a long way in regards to future purchases of headphones, can’t be understated, not when we get to really high tier audio products
@ConvinceMeAudio Yeah, might just get the best available offering of each type and just stop worrying, I am already 1/4 of the way there. But I realized sometime ago that there is no need to rush these things and just take things as they come.
@@bernamej so the differences Diana, neutral dark, HD 800 S definitely neutral bright HD 800 biggest soundstage of any headphone with caveats Diana, intimate to good needs far harder equipment to drive HD 800 requires tubes. Synergy is problematic. They are both light on base until you drive them properly on high end equipment Both have excellent positioning Diana has better timbre Turn all balances, much better on Diana as well
I believe the comparisons in the review, but they are a step up above the V2 They sound bigger, but I think I prefer tonality of V2 as a preference I genuinely truly love those headphones
@@ConvinceMeAudio The V2 is my daily driver but im wonder if are a clear winner. The V2 appears to me as a real neutral sounding Headphone. High End Headphones often tries to achive something more than compatition. HD800 Soundstage, Focal Utopia Clarity.. but also sacrafice in other regards. But the V2 dosent Sound that special to me, kinda boring in comparison. Nothing stands out. But the overall tone is very rich and alive to me. Its just sounds right without sacraficing. I can hear it all the day and im into the music without fatigue
@@xyzzyx6241 That's how I feel about the HEKSE, it sounds incredible but not "special". It gets everything right (when EQ'd). But it's boring compared to Focals (flawed but full of character)
I got the V2 for $1600, its sound very good with my ares and singxer sa1(some recording need a high gain though) . Imagine how much i would have spend if i got the Phi 🫣🫣
