So, I have finished my didactic courses before getting my BSN! I was supposed to go into my clinical residency / nursing preceptorship but 'Ron changed the plans I thought I had. In this video, I share how I landed my first job in the nursing field, BEFORE GRADUATING! This job isn't too unfamiliar to people in the nursing field, because the nurse extern position has been around for quite some time, especially in areas where nurse residency programs are unavailable. Nurse externships are perfect for students who want to get their foot in the door for a nursing job early on, especially before graduating and having to start the search for a job🤍!
My original plan was to just be in the public health realm but God had other plans! I am so glad I changed my mind. I'm getting so much hands-on experience as a nurse extern and I am in my favorite specialty, second to psych mental health nursing! I can make more videos in the future about nurse externships and clarify nurse preceptorships vs. nurse residency and everything else that seems appealing yet confusing in the nursing field.
