She's amazing! Love how she speaks with a classic SoCal surfer drawl, but there is a high level of intellect that she possesses and communicates. There is so much pride and joy to celebrate with this amazing person! Thanks for the interview, Shawn!

She is amazing and very intelligent. She will be doing a lot of interviews and will undoubtably become aware of and control her vocal fry: ua-cam.com/video/FwUEu3McHg8/v-deo.html

Might sound weird but she really reminds me in interviews of Kurt Cobain. The way she talks and her attitude is really similar.

You are an unbelievable talent. Don't fall into the Surfline and Matt Rode surf exploration hole which is actually surf exploitation. You just helped expose another spot. F....O.....G....O. Your surfing in the video was absolutely incredible! Hopefully Red Bull will afford you a great life in surfing and you won't have to be part of the exploitation problem. You are a soul surfer so be true to yourself. Good luck, you deserve it.

Dude, what is the epitome of "soul" or "pure" surfing ? I believe it is exploring the ocean for a good wave, finding it, and then surfing to the best of one's ability it with no one else out - is that exploitation ? I think it is every real surfers fantasy. Gimme a break, that is what legit surfers have been doing since at least the 1950's if not before that... I am 65 and surfed for 45+ of those years. I never discovered a virgin wave but that was always the dream. She is an amazing surfer and young woman with phenomenal talent. Don't be a freakin' whiner - she surfs contests like a free surfer which is a fantastic aspect to her surfing which should be celebrated. Her surfing on that Maps to Nowhere video was one of the sickest things I have ever seen, I applaud her for that, and you should too.

Agree 100% to assume nobody has ever surfed is bullshit not everybody travels with a camera and for that matter a film crew

I watched some clips not long ago. Caity with a few others surfing a remote sandbar. Her brother was there also. They both really rip. I was surprised at Caity what she did on those waves. Committed manoeuvres. As committed as it gets and those barrels were not so small. All the best to both of those young Simmer siblings. I wish them well and lots of enjoyment from their surfing.

Damm she s surf. Just like slater ...style , glide and rad ...if shes not world champion the wsl juge should retire. Also she definitely compete among guys . That will be the future of surfing and will make surfing more open that it should be a not another co formative sport as it is becoming.
Caitlin plz kicks everybody boys ass ...u r clearly the best ...it has been 25 years that I haven't seen surf a clean surfing apart slater, irons, Rob ect...🤙

There’s a formula, it’s rinse and repeat! It’s singular focus. It’s taking a talent and out working your talent when talent isn’t enough. That’s the formula. It’s total sacrifice. You don’t party, you don’t stay up late, you don’t get distracted by things others want to show you and you learn to say NO. And like Elon Musk’s ex says, that NO is really just more YES for your goal. Focus is divine, distraction is the devil. Stay away from alcohol, weed, and romance until you have so much momentum in your favor that even they can’t slow you down if you occasionally dabble. Easy to say, almost impressed for 99.99999% to do.

@@ItsWesSmithYo idk, I think it was a Ted Talk she did saying she dumped Elon cause he said, “no”, all the time, and then realized that after they divorced his, “no”, was actually a, “yes”, to himself and the great things he was building that she was too selfish to understand at the time. It was kinda a way of her saying that she blew it and he was greater than she understood, because he said, “no”!

Surfing contests are subjective and don't prove a damn thing except you got a sponsor to pay your way for helping sell their products.

Being a "professional surfer" just means you do it for money; it doesn't mean you are the best or the top.
    This whole interview is bs.

You’re a dusty old man, Laurence. Who gave you a library card and let you use the internet?
Caity is such an asset to San Diego and to women’s surfing. Go contribute something positive to the world instead of talking trash about an 18 year old who is dominating in her sport.

If you and your friends started surfing in the 50's and you don't get the spiritual aspect of surfing then y'all were probably the dudes that drove around with boards to look cool but hardly ever surfed because you were kooks, LMAO !
