    Easy to follow video. Funny too! I giggled out loud a few times. I love it when people in videos show a little humor and are candid. Thank you!

    Wow love how you made this as you made a channel for the elastic first one I seen like this, normally I see the elastic on outside I will be making these thanks. Wonder can you lamaite your fabric?

      I'm not sure whether you could laminate fabric in a document laminator. I think the plastic might be too rigid. I've used a brush on coating called Odicoat, or you could coat it in beeswax first. There's a demo for that over on The Crafts Channel, c x

      @@SewistChannel Odicoat should not be used when there is food.

      @@clairemineault5733 I did try to research whether it was food safe and couldn't get any definite data. I wouldn't use it with hot food or as a sandwich wrap, but as a bowl cover where it doesn't actually touch the food it surely can't be any more dangerous than cling film? c x

    Is the odicoat machine washable? Does it wash out of fabric? Do you cost both sides?

    • @SewistChannel
      @SewistChannel  Рік тому +1

      I've washed my bowl covers in the washing machine but I never tend to wash at more than 40 degrees. They stayed coated. I only coated one side, the outside, because I'm a cheapskate. I cannot find any info on whether it is deemed foodsafe so you might be best to just coat the outside, this will keep the food fresh without it resting on it, c x

    What about using Rip stop on the inside next to the food?

    Thank you! Could you put beeswax on the fabric first and sew this! Or is that too messy?

    • @SewistChannel
      @SewistChannel  3 роки тому +1

      I think it would be ok if you don't add the resin that some people do. Beeswax shouldn't gum your machine up but a sticky resin might! c x

    Could you share a link for the protective product you spoke of?.... (trouble understanding the accent... ;) ...sorry!)...

      It's called Odicoat. Try looking here - www.odifusa.com/catalogue/fabric-adhesives/odicoat-gel-coating
