Yep, that about sums it up, but when you ask a question, they're like "Figure it out yourself." Like I only come to school bc im forced to, the least you can do is help me with my work, lady!
There are varying rules for what constitutes overtime to be paid. At some work places any hours worked over 40 hours per week (or some other set amount of hours) would be paid at an overtime rate. Sometimes it might also be if you worked more than 8 hours in a day. You'd have to ask what the rules are for your work place. You could also divide your earnings by 34.5 to see if it equals your hourly rate. If it's more, then you got paid some overtime.
Question I understand you get overtime after 40 hrs of work in a week, but also when you work more than 8 hrs in a day Example- I work 48 hrs in a week, but I worked 4 days of 12 hrs shift Now how is my overtime calculated ? Do I get 8 hrs of overtime for working more than 40 hrs in a week? Or Do I get overtime by working more than 8 hrs every day? One would be 8 hrs of overtime, while the other would be 16 hrs of overtime
Hi. The rules can vary from workplace to workplace. From what you said, I believe your four 12 hour days would give you 16 hours of overtime since you got 4 hours overtime for 4 different days. Again, you should check on what the rules for overtime are to make sure.
If you want to know the percentage deducted for taxes, divide the following: tax amount deducted ÷ gross income × 100%. Net income is what's left from your pay after taxes and any other deductions have been subtracted.
The company would have an overall smaller wages expense. Anyone that works less than 45 hours wouldn't be paid any overtime so that's essentially cheaper labor for the company. This is assuming that overtime for both over 40 and 45 hours is at the same rate (i.e both either time and one half or double time, etc...).
Can you help me with this ,please . If jones worked for 42 hours and was paid $8 per hour as a basic rate , what would be his total pay for this week ? The answer says His total pay=42 hrs×$8=$336.00+42×$1.25=$388.50 I do understand but my problem is where does the extra 42 and $1.25 come from ??
Hey. That 42 x 1.25 is very odd. Often overtime is time and a half or 1.5 times the normal rate per hour and usually just for the hours over 40 or some other predefined hourly amount. Does the textbook you are using state anything about how overtime is calculated? or does your teacher notes from class?
@@AlRichards314 yes I figured it out it was after a group bonus question it was the second part . Thank you so much ,my teacher doesn't explain so gotta do it own my own but thank you so much ...your explanations really make be understand the concept.

I work 48 hrs in a week, but I worked 4 days of 12 hrs shift

Don’t know who you are but thanks so much
How do you show percentage deducted for taxes , what is net income
If you want to know the percentage deducted for taxes, divide the following: tax amount deducted ÷ gross income × 100%.
Net income is what's left from your pay after taxes and any other deductions have been subtracted.
What about taxes? U for get?
That's another video.
Nobody answers this. Don’t know if you can help but, What does a company benefit by waiting to pay OT after 45 hrs vs 40. Thanks
